The Student Success Center will be hosting the Habits for Good Academic Standing Workshop on Wednesday, September 3rd at 5pm in the Student Development Center, Room 109. Come learn strategies and techniques to improve or maintain your academic standing and feel more confident in your college career.

Community Sunday

All are welcomed to join Community Sunday at the Union University Church on Sunday September 7th. There is a church service at 10:30 and a community celebration and picnic at 12:30 located at the Church Center at Main & Church Street. There will be food, games and activities for all ages and all are welcome!

ERGO - ASC's LITERARY & ARTISTIC PUBLICATION/COVER CONTEST/POETRY READING

SUBMISSIONS WANTED FOR ERGO, ALFRED STATE’S LITERARY MAGAZINE

Take a break, sit quietly, and create a piece of artwork, poem, story, or whatever and send to Ergo, Alfred State’s literary magazine, at Ergo@alfredstate.edu. Become part of the Ergo Committee by attending the 1st meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at noon in the SDC Faculty Lounge (Rm. 242). 

SUBMISSION DEADLINE:  October 31, 2025

ERGO COVER CONTEST DEADLINE:  October 31, 2025

Wondering what to submit?  Full wrap cover (front & back) 17.25" wide by 11.25" high or just the front cover 8.75" wide by 11.25" high, 300 dpi, jpeg.  All entries must fit these specifications for consideration.  Submit to Ergo@alfredstate.edu.

And better yet, there's a prize!  Winner and a runner-up will both get a $100 gift certificate for the ASC Campus Store, and boasting rights for being featured as the author of the cover on the Fall 2025 ERGO publication! 

POETRY READING:  Monday, November 10, 2025, Small Event Space within Student Leadership Center starting at 6 p.m.  Come and enjoy an hour of music, poetry, artwork, and tasty desserts from the Wellsville Baking Production & Management culinary students.

Join Cultural Life Center and ASC Veterans United for a 911 Remembrance

On September 11, from 12-2pm the Cultural Life Center and ASC Veterans United Club will holding a remembrance in honor of 9/11.  Take a moment to reflect and share the impact that 911 had on you, your family, or community.  Flags in honor of 911 first responders will be posted in the SLC green space.

Academic Advising Center's Late Hours

Due to teaching obligations, the Academic Advising Center will be closed from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Tuesdays this semester. However, to make that time up for students we will have extended hours every Wednesday from 8:30am to 6:30pm. If you are having issues with seeing an advisor during regular working hours, this is the time for you to reach out! If you can't get to the AAC in person, please email advising@alfredstate.edu. Get ready for success: myLearning Readiness Course

All Alfred State College students have been automatically enrolled in the 2025-26 myLearning Readiness Course. This non-credit, non-graded course is designed to help you become familiar with the myLearning Learning Management System (LMS).

The course provides information, skills, and strategies to support your success in the online learning environment. You will have the opportunity to practice submitting assignments and posting to discussion boards in a no-pressure, non-graded setting. Open the course and look around. The main goal is to build your confidence and increase your likelihood of academic success. The course is available as a resource for the entire 2025-26 academic year.

This course is not just for online students. Many face-to-face instructors use myLearning for testing, homework, and other assignments. We believe completing the readiness course will benefit all students.

Take advantage of this valuable resource to set yourself up for success.
