The Oasis

The Oasis will be opening for the Fall 2022 semester on Monday, September 5th and will be following the below schedule throughout the semester.

 

Monday: 5-7pm

Tuesday: 2-4pm

Thursday: 5-7pm

 

Come in and enjoy a peaceful moment at the oasis, pick from several different essential oils, and relax in the massage chairs.

Use of the Oasis space is by appointment (see below for how to schedule an appointment via your Student Health Portal; must schedule appointment at least 24 hours in advance) and will also be open for use on a walk-in/first come, first served basis.

 

Scheduling an Appointment to use a Massage Chair in the Oasis:

  • Log into your Health Portal (after you have registered):
  • Click on Appt. Scheduling Tab à Then Click on Schedule Appt.
  • Read the Terms of Service
  • Select Location à Health and Wellness
  • Chose the Date/Dates You Would like to Schedule the Massage Chair

**You are only able to sign up for ONE appointment per day.

  • Select Reason for Appointment à MASSAGE CHAIR
  • Select Search
  • If No Results Found Comes Up, there are No Available Appointments for the Dates that you Selected, so Extend your Search.
  • If Available Appointments Comes Up, Select One of the Massage Chairs (1,2,3, or 4) Located Below Providers.
  • Once you Select the Massage Chair you would like to Schedule à Click Confirm to Schedule your Appointment in the Oasis.
  • The Time Slot and Massage Chair will then be Reserved for You.

Please keep in mind:

  • Oasis reservations can be made in advance to ensure an open slot.
  • Oasis slots are 40 minutes long – 20 minutes for massage and 20 minutes for cleaning/disinfecting.
  • No food, drinks, or vaping allowed.
  • Students who are not observing the Student Code of Conduct, are disruptive to others, or are not complaint with social distancing regulations, will be asked to leave the space.

Open Room Changes

The Office of Residential Services will be conducting Open Room Changes starting Friday, September 2 thru Wednesday, September 7. 

 

If you are interested in moving into a single room, buying out a double room as a single room, or moving to a different room on campus please speak with your buildings Residence Director during their scheduled office hours (office hours are posted on RD office door or at the building RA Office).

Instrumental Music

Instrumental music’s first rehearsal will be Tuesday September 13th 5:30-7pm in the Orvis Auditorium.  At this rehearsal we will be handing out new music, figuring out seating and instruments and start playing.  The rehearsals for this semester will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays 5:30-7pm.  New members can join at any time.  If you have any questions, contact the new director Christina Rawady at rawadyc@alfredstate.edu or the President Beth Schneider at SchneiEM@alfredstate.edu

Wondering what to submit?  Full wrap cover (front & back) 17.25" wide by 11.25" high or just the front cover 8.75" wide by 11.25" high, 300 dpi, jpeg.  All entries must fit these specifications for consideration.

Student Senate Treasurer Training; Mandatory for Senate Funded Clubs

Student Senate Van Training

Student Senate Van Training for interest drivers is scheduled for:

5:00pm \ SLC 408

 

All interested participants must arrive on time. Late arrivals will be turned away. Participants must bring their driver's license with them and a pen. If you do not have your license with you during the training you will not be able to continue.

Space is limited so failure to RSVP may mean people may be turned away if we're at capacity.

 

Pre-qualification requirements:

1. Drivers must be 21 years of age or older

2. Drivers must have held their driver's license for a full calendar year.

3. Drivers must not have any convictions for moving violations on their driver record in the past 3 years.

4. Drivers must not have any at-fault accidents on their record in the past 3 years.

Need Textbooks Sooner? Add Funds to CSA!

Students who are expecting a refund, but need book money or supplies, can add pending financial aid funds to their CSA (Campus Spending Account). CSA accounts allow students to use pending financial aid funds to purchase books and supplies.

PLEASE COME JOIN ERGO (ASC’S LITERARY & ARTISTIC PUBLICATION)!

ERGO is funded by the Student Senate and is freely distributed each semester.  Students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit their original works of art, poetry, and prose by sending them to ERGO@alfredstate.edu.  Dr. Aniko Constantine (SDC Bldg., Rm. 309), is the Faculty Advisor for ERGO.  If you wish, your submission could be published anonymously or under a pseudonym.

 

The first meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 12, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. in the Student Development Center faculty lounge located on the 2nd floor, Rm. 242.  This meeting is open to any students interested in possibly joining ERGO.  This committee will meet 5 or 6 times during the semester.

 

Take a moment and review one of our previous publications located in several of the buildings around campus.

Alfred State Pioneers open fall semester sports this week. Events start at home Thursday, September 1st at 6 p.m. with women’s soccer. The first Alfred State football game at Pioneer Stadium is Saturday, September 3rd at 1 p.m.

Interested in preparing tax returns?

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is a program offering free tax preparation help to people who make $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their tax returns.  Students will learn more about the program and how to sign up for free online asynchronous training through the IRS program to be able to prepare tax returns.  The program is self-paced and done entirely online free of charge.

College Farm Hunting Permits -University Police

Hunting permits to hunt on the college’s farm will be available beginning Thursday, September 8th at 6:00 a.m.  You may obtain a permit from University Police Dispatch by providing a valid ID.  We have a limited number of fifty permits for deer archery/muzzleloader, fall turkey, and small game.
