Parking Information- IMPORTANT!
Hello Pioneers,
Welcome returning and new Pioneers! We look forward to the semester together.
If you brought a car to campus, make sure you register your vehicle and display your hangtag on your rearview mirror. The process is found here: https://www.alfredstate.edu/university-police/parking-registration. FAQ’s are provided below:
How many student parking spaces are there?
Over the last year, we have worked hard to add student parking spaces by re-striping and the completion of construction projects that had limited access in some lots. We are pleased to report that compared to 2023, we have a total increase of +114 additional student parking spaces across the Alfred and Wellsville campuses, totaling 1893 student spaces (1469 in Alfred, 424 in Wellsville). Please refer to the updated parking map for locations of all existing and new lots available to students.
Do you issue more permits than available spaces?
No. The College annually averages issuing about 1700-1800 student permits – less than total spaces. Most colleges do oversell, since not everyone is parking on campus at the same time.
Why can’t I find a space next to my building?
Despite having more spaces than permits, parking is on a first-come first-serve basis and the most desirable spots may fill up quickly. Early mornings or late evenings are better times to search for spots that you like most. To help, we kindly ask students who are not planning to use their car in the short-term to park in larger lots as a courtesy to peers who rely on daily use of their vehicle . As a helpful tip, student parking lots with available spaces nearly year-round include Lots 19, 20, 22, and 31.
How can I prevent getting a parking ticket?
University Police officers do enforce the parking regulations with the goal of achieving compliance. Because no one likes parking tickets, the easiest way to prevent receiving one is making sure you (1) register your car and (2) know where you should park. The regulations are always available and found online here: https://www.alfredstate.edu/university-police/parking-regulations.
How can I report a parking concern?
Any questions or concerns related to the parking on campus, or rules and regulations, can be directed to the following email: parkingconcerns@alfredstate.edu. This account reaches a parking committee who can consider feedback on how to make sure we’re managing parking the best way. Note: this email account is not to be used for appealing a parking ticket.
Do you monitor real-time parking lot status?
Yes, and we will send you an update during the first week with an update and tips on where available parking spaces are located to help you if you’re having trouble locating the empty spots.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have further questions or we can assist you in some way.
