Homecoming Family Weekend Basket Raffle
Homecoming Family Weekend is fast approaching and it is time to start thinking about our Annual Basket Raffle! Is your department or organization interested in donating a basket for the raffle? We encourage you to come up with a unique and fun theme for your basket! Please reach out to Sandra Burdick at BurdicSL@alfredstate.edu or by calling X4098 to let us know if you are planning on donating a basket. Baskets will need to be wrapped in cellophane and delivered to the Office of Student Engagement in the Student Leadership Center no later than Wednesday, October 11th. Baskets will be displayed and tickets can be purchased in the Student Leadership Center in Room 204 on Friday, October 13th from 10am until 4pm and again at Homecoming on Saturday, October 14th during the tailgate festivities with tickets being drawn at halftime. Tickets will be sold as a sheet of 25 tickets for $10. You may purchase multiple sheets if desired.
Apply to Graduate in December 2023
All students completing degree requirements this semester need to apply to graduate (diplomas are not automatically awarded) by visiting my.AlfredState.edu/registration > Graduation and Commencement > Apply for Graduation. Prospective graduates should contact their academic department to ensure graduation requirements have been met and view their degree progress on DegreeWorks.
The deadline to apply for a December 2023 diploma is October 9, 2023.
- There is NO fee for the graduation application.
- Students with a minor OR students in a 4-year program looking to earn the corresponding 2-year degree (once requirements are met) must apply to graduate by filling out a Paper Degree Application.
- Please DO NOT apply for May 2024 graduation at this time.
- Graduating students who plan to return this spring (in a new program) must apply for readmission through the Admissions Office. Readmission Applicants are unable to register until their application is approved.

Last Day to Drop Without a Fee
Students can process a course change notice without a fee until 11 am on Monday, September 18, 2023.
After this date, a $20 drop fee will be assessed. Students may pay the fee online by visiting my.alfredtate.edu/finances > View/Pay your Bill, or in the Student Records and Financial Services Office located in the Agriculture Science Building.
Course Change Notice and Withdrawal/Leave of Absence forms received after 11 am on September 18 will be dated when received, but not processed until Tuesday, September 19th.
THE DOG WASH IS BACK!!!
The Veterinary Technology Club and the Opt to Adopt Suite is holding their first dog wash since before COVID! We are so excited to have the ability to do this with the public again...so here are the details:
When: Saturday September 23
Where: the HOPR (the garage looking thing on the front of the SLC)
Time: 10:00AM-2:00PM
Appointments are requested, but not required, just realize that those with appointments will be given priority! For an appointment please email: Murraypc@alfredstate.edu
Pricing: Please be aware that this is a basic bath-no detangling/dematting or clipping will be performed. This event is for well behaved dogs only-sorry no cats or dogs with aggression issues. Dogs must be on a leash and should be up to date on vaccinations.
- $10 for just a bath
- $15 wash, nail trim, and ear cleaning
- $ 5 nail trim
- $ 5 ear cleaning
Funds will help us with club events and donations worthy events/programs involving animals

Lot Closures for Pioneer Tailgating. Please relocate vehicles.
Parking lot #20 & 20A will be CLOSED today beginning at 4pm FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 14TH. Students that are being required to move their vehicles may park in any open STUDENT lot between 4pm on 9/14 and the conclusion of the football game. Parking lot 20 & 20A will reopen upon completion of the game. Vehicles that remain in closed parking lots, or re-enter after the closing time, are subject to parking enforcement.
Please continue to monitor your daily announces, as there will be many parking lot closures throughout the academic year.

If you live on campus and were issued a temporary student parking pass please remember to stop by the University Police Department and pick up your permanent hang tag before Monday 9/18.
Hispanic Heritage Month Kick Off
The Cultural Life Center is hosting a Hispanic Heritage Month Kick Off Tabling Event. Drop by our table in the SLC Parkspace on Friday, September 15th from 12-2 pm for information and pin giveaways about Hispanic Heritage Month. Students will have opportunity to participate in a cultural photoshoot, and watch the livestream of the 2023 Hispanic Heritage Month Opening Ceremony.
Pioneer Center Building: Rec Room is OPEN!
Did you know that we have a Rec Room in the Pioneer Building? Come on in and play a game of pool, foosball, darts, and air hockey! Tables and chairs are available for doing homework or to sit with your friends after grabbing a meal a the Feast Beast. Just looking for a place to lounge and hang out? We have lots of soft furniture too! We also host events each week so check out Pioneer Link or Corq to see what's going on. Bring your friends!
Culinary Arts at Garlic Festival
The Culinary Arts programs will have a booth at the Garlic Festival this weekend, Sep.16th and 17th in Cuba, New York.
There will be a student competition, a garlic challenge (open to the public), cookie decorating for children, and more.
Stop by and see our students and faculty in action. We hope to see you there.
Alfred's Got Talent Auditions
Students, do you sing, dance, perform magic tricks or comedy? What about juggling, reciting poetry, or riding a unicycle? We know you have talent and we want to see it! Alfred's Got Talent, Fall 2023 will be taking place on Friday, October 13. If you are interested in showcasing your talent, reach out to Calsey Bump to schedule an audition at bumpce@alfredstate.edu. Audition dates will be Tuesday, September 26 and Wednesday, September 27 by appointment only from 6-8PM. Location to be announced!
