Beware of Suspicious Emails - University Police
One of our students recently received an e-mail which came from an active Alfred State Webmail account offering them a job and a $2,450 paycheck. The email also requested the student deposit said check into their bank account and invest the money in Bitcoin. This is just a friendly reminder from University Police that emails such as this are almost always fake and should be treated as such. Emails requesting the recipient to purchase Apple gift cards, Google Play cards, cryptocurrency, or similar forms of payment are examples of what you should look for when dealing with these types of schemes. Just remember if it sounds too good to be true it is.
