Student Announce April 3, 2025

Alfred State Drama Club presents Alice in Wonderland, based on the classic by Lewis Carroll and adapted by Anne Coulter Martens. Alice was just playing in the grass when suddenly an intriguing white rabbit passes her by. Little does Alice know that when she chases him, she’ll find herself down the rabbit hole and into a strange land, full of wonder and an assortment of mysterious characters! Desperately trying to get home, Alice will meet all the residents of Wonderland with plenty of adventure along the way! Join the Mad Hatter, Mr. White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, and more as we help Alice find her way back home.

This show is appropriate for all audiences and is open to all! Tickets can be purchased at the campus store in advance via CSA, cash, or card but you may also purchase tickets for CASH ONLY at the door. Tickets are $5 for students of any kind and $10 for general admission. Performances will be at 7 pm on April 10th, 11th, & 12th in the Cappadonia Auditorium of the Orvis Activities Center. The Office of Residential Services has opened guest pre-registration for those Alfred State students who live on campus that would like to have off-campus guests during Hot Dog Day Weekend.  Although pre-registration is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged so you can skip the long wait of registering your guest with a staff member.

Students may only have one on-campus or off-campus at a time during Hot Dog weekend. Your guest should also be over the age of 17, otherwise they will not be permitted to stay in the residence hall. 

Pre-registration will run until Friday, April 18th.  Final approvals will be made on Tuesday, April 22nd.

Showcase your organization in the Hot Dog Day parade on Saturday, April 26, 2025. The line-up will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Park Street (by the Saxon Inn). The parade will begin promptly at 12:00 p.m. and proceed down Main St. to Church Street. We request an outline of what you would like to do during the parade. Please understand that the Hot Dog Day committee has the right to deny any request for participation in the parade. All approvals/denials will be done in writing by April 11th.

Would you be interested in some community service for Spring into Action Month? Projects will run at the Community Garden on Friday, April 11, 18, and 25 from 1 pm to 4 pm. The garden is located behind the vet tech complex, and transportation can be provided via the loop bus. Allegany County needs YOUR help for their community health survey and as a student that attends ASC your opinion matters! The survey is quite important as it is only conducted every 6 years now and is used to assess the needs of our community members across the county. The responses that are collected from the survey guide programming and suggests what are necessary interventions, several community organizations, schools, parks, and even churches depend on the data from this survey to support grant writing. Hiring for Student Union Ambassadors!

Student Unions will start hiring for the 2025-2026 school year. We are hiring both work-study and non work-study students. We are excited to announce that applications for Student Senate positions for the 2025-2026 academic year are now open. There are 8 positions available on the board, offering an excellent opportunity for you to engage in university governance and contribute to important campus decisions.

These paid positions, compensated at NYS minimum wage, provide valuable leadership experience and a chance to make a positive impact on our campus community.

The Vet Tech Club is hosting their spring dog wash on Sunday April 13 from 10 am to 2 pm. It will be held in the HOPR of the SLC. This is a basic wash, NO grooming (dematting, detangling, clipping, etc) is available. Open to students and faculty of Alfred State as well as members of the community. Well behaved dogs only! All dogs must be leashed and up to date on vaccinations. 

Basic dog wash $10

Ear cleaning $5

Nail trim $5

Package (wash, ears, nails) $15

Fall 2025 Room Selection for New Students          

Selecting your Room! 

Room selection will begin March 31, 2025 for students whose tuition deposit is received by March 25.  

For those who have not paid their tuition deposit by March 26, room selection will begin on April 14, 2025. 

You will need to have your housing application completed in order to select your room! 

Selecting your room instructions:

1. Log into your my.alfredstate.edu
2. Select the “Housing” icon
3. Return to "Housing Overview" 
4.  Select the green "Browse Rooms"
5. You can search for specific rooms by building/section and/or other residence preferences set up. This may take a couple of attempts pending on your preferences and room availability. "No bed available" will appear if there is not a room available through the preferences you set up. 
6. Click the "bed" icon to select your room of choice. 
7. Dialog window will be prompted with details of the selected room. 
8. Click the "choose this bed" button
9. Review the details of your room reservation. Click on "Assign me now" to confirm your assignment.  Click the "look at other rooms" link to browse other rooms. 

Please note individual room selection will close on August 1, 2025

Monday, March 24 – 90+ Credit Hours Completed

Tuesday, March 25- 60+ credit hours completed

Wednesday, March 26- 30+ credit hours completed

Thursday, March 27- 29 or less credit hours completed

Alfred State College has been awarded funding through NYS for the Aid for Part-Time Study (APTS) grant for the 2024-2025 academic year.  Students may be eligible to receive up to $1,000 for the Spring semester. 

Part-time students may obtain an application online at https://www.alfredstate.edu/financial-aid/forms or by emailing sfs@alfredstate.edu.  

Students who received APTS funding for the Fall 2024 semester DO NOT need to submit another application for spring 2025.

Eligibility criteria include:

Matriculated student consistently enrolled between three (3) and eleven (11) credit hours per semester.

Enrolled in at least one full term course this semester.

New York State resident

Completed 2024-2025 FAFSA application

Meet satisfactory academic progress

Not receiving TAP or Part-Time TAP this semester

Applicants are required to submit a signed 2022 New York State Income Tax return for student (or parent if applicable) along with the signed APTS application.  Applications will not be reviewed until all documentation has been submitted and signed.

Forward the completed application and required tax forms to sfs@alfredstate.edu.  The deadline for the Spring 2025 semester is Friday, April 11, 2025.

Submission of an APTS application does not guarantee receipt of an award.  Students who are not eligible will receive an email through their Alfred State email account indicating the reason for ineligibility.
