ALERT:  Emergency Drill

Wednesday, September 13th, 2023, at 10:10 a.m.

Alfred State will be conducting the drill to test its emergency procedures & systems on the Alfred and Wellsville Campuses

During the drill – actively shelter in place at a location where you can:

  1. Lock or block the door
  2. Darken the room
  3. Silence cell phones
  4. Move to the safest wall (where you are out of sight)
  5. Strategize and coordinate with persons with you about what to do if your door is entered by a threat.  Identify 2-4 “contact” persons who will volunteer to actively assist in getting the threat to the floor where they are unable to continue their actions.

The sirens will be going off on both the Alfred and Wellsville campuses.  Hear an audio sample and learn about them at: http://www.alfredstate.edu/university-police/emergency-preparedness-emergency-procedures/outdoor-warning-siren

RAVE Alert!  Students upon activating their Alfred State email account are automatically registered.  To manage and update notification preferences visit: www.getrave.com/login/alfredstate

Watch the video - RUN.HIDE.FIGHT.  Learn what you should do if there is an active shooter in your vicinity at: http://www.alfredstate.edu/university-police/training

Faculty members - it is recommended to share this video with your class and/or talk about your strategy for sheltering and what you will do if your room is entered.

Women’s Wrestling Team Looking for More Students – Coach Margaret Laine

Women wrestle, and so can you…even if you’ve never wrestled before. Are you courageous? Dedicated? Passionate about empowering women? The women’s wrestling team hopes to find a few more brave ladies to try wrestling, and you might be a great fit. This is your chance to make history and play an NCAA DIII sport, but the kick is, no experience is required. If you already like the gym, enjoy learning about nutrition, and are competitive, come to our interest meeting on Wednesday, 9/13 at 6:00PM, or reach out to Coach Laine ((425) 321-9667, Kermoaml@alfredstate.edu) to see what it’d look like to be a woman wrestler for Alfred State.

Alfred Campus Road and Lot Closures

As work continues to improve infrastructure and build an even more beautiful and inviting campus, beginning Monday, September 11, a portion of Upper College Drive will be closed near the Orvis Gym. Access to lots 18 – 23 and our athletic facilities will be available at the entrance to lot 21 next to the Orvis bus stop for traffic driving up the hill on the loop road from Central Dining Hall. We anticipate this construction work will be completed by mid-November.

Also beginning on Monday, Lower College Drive construction will necessitate the closure of lot 2 next to Townhouse Commons until the end of October. Students parked in lot 2 outside the Residential Services Office need to move to an alternate location by Sunday, September 10. To help you, we are opening lot 4 at 10 Elm for another residential student parking option. Commuter and Residential Student Parking Lot 4 can be accessed off Elm Street.

The online interactive campus map is updated with the construction activity that begins Monday. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding while we work to improve our campus.
