Can the Van: A Community-Driven Fundraiser to Support Campus Food Pantries

Wellsville & Fillmore – In a show of community spirit and collective responsibility, Leadership Allegany, in partnership with Alfred State College, Alfred University, & Armstrong, is excited to announce “Can the Van,” a vital fundraising event aimed at gathering non-perishable food items, hygiene products, and monetary donations for Alfred State College & Alfred University campus food pantries. This initiative will take place throughout Allegany County, please see below for the dates, times, and locations.

“Can the Van” is a collaborative effort to address food insecurity in our community by providing essential resources to those in need. The event will feature a dedicated Armstrong van that will collect donations at each location along with ASC support. Our goal is to fill the van with much-needed supplies, demonstrating the power of community support and the impact of collective action.

Each donation will enter you to win select prizes, like grocery store gift cards, camping gear, and more.

How You Can Get Involved:

  1. Donate Non-Perishable Food Items: Items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, and shelf-stable milk are greatly needed.
  2. Contribute Hygiene Products: Essential items like soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and sanitary products will help maintain dignity and well-being.
  3. Make Monetary Donations: Financial contributions allow food pantries to purchase items in bulk and address specific needs.

Wellsville:

September 7, 2024 at Giant : 10:00am-3:00pm

Fillmore:

September 7, 2024 at the Fillmore Shop n’ Save: 10:00am-3:00pm

If you are unavailable to stop by the locations but would still like to donate to our fundraiser, please feel free to drop off items to the Student Leadership Center, room 204 and/or contact Calsey Bump at bumpce@alfredstate.edu for drop-off arrangements.
