Alfred State Dance Team SPRING SHOWCASE is March 29th!

Alfred State Dance Team presents our SPRING SHOWCASE on Saturday, March 29th in Orvis Auditorium! Seating begins at 6:00 pm and the Performance starts at 6:15 pm. At our Intermission, refreshments will be provided by ACES including cookies, brownies, and sweet iced tea. Purchase tickets at the door. Cash Only! Ticket prices are $3 for students and $7 for general admission. Welcome SPRING with us! See you there!

Know Your Rights: Navigating Public Spaces and Interactions - March 25th at 5pm

The Center for Civic Leadership and Cultural Life Center invite you to join us, alongside Dr. Angela Graves, for a Know Your Rights workshop.

This session will provide a broad overview of rights and responsibilities in public spaces, with a focus on staying informed in an evolving political environment. Participants will gain practical insights on how to navigate various situations with confidence and awareness. We will open the floor for dialogue and Q&A and also have a form for folks to submit questions ahead of time linked here.

Get Rec'd - The Campus Clash

Join us for an exciting team competition event featuring teams of six, with at least two members of the opposite gender. Enjoy a fun-filled day packed with games, challenges, and activities, along with delicious food and drinks provided for all participants. Take part in the raffle for a chance to win great prizes and compete for monetary rewards for the top-performing teams. Don’t miss out on this action-packed event full of camaraderie and competition!

Please have your team captain register all members for this event by filling out the registration form linked at the top of Pioneer Link. All teams get the choice of picking a team color where they will receive bandanas

First-Year Prom | An Evening in Paris | RSVP!

Celebrate the end of your first year at Alfred State College with your peers at our second annual First-Year Prom! A team of first-year students have been working hard to put this together for their class and are excited to announce that the theme is: An Evening in Paris. Enjoy the evening "under the Eiffel Tower" in the MacKenzie Commons from 8:30PM-1AM. There will be a DJ, decor, dancing, hors d'ourves, and more! 

  • This is for first-year students & one guest per student is allowed (the guest can be an upperclassman). 
  • Non-ASC students are allowed as a guest, but must fill out the guest form on eRezLife.
  • If you need assistance with finding proper attire, please contact our Assistant Director of First-Year Engagement at bumpce@alfredstate.edu.
  • Ticket cost is $10 for a single guest and $15 for a couple. We accept cash or you can stop by the campus store to use CSA.

We have a new hairdresser, Kaylynn Hancock, on campus that will be in the Pioneer Cutz in the Pioneer Center. 

She is starting on Tuesday, March 25.

Help us foster healthier campus communities by taking the SUNY Sexual Violence Prevalence (SVP) Campus Climate Survey.

SUNY’s Campus Climate Survey OPENS this week to survey experiences of and knowledge about sexual and interpersonal violence on campuses. The link will be emailed from Survey@suny.edu, survey remains open until April 18.

This survey is intended to gather information about the incidence of sexual and interpersonal violence and knowledge of related policies and resources available on campus. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete. Your participation is voluntary.

Apply for the 2025-2026 Empire State Service Corps

Have a desire to do good and make a difference?  Get hands-on experience and serve your community through paid public service with the Empire State Service Corps.  These on-campus positions pay $16/hour and require a total of 300 hours over of the course of the year- about 10 hours/week.  Choose one of several areas of interest such as basic needs outreach, sustainability, or peer mental health support.  Priority deadline for applications is April 18.   Learn more and apply at the following link: suny.edu/student-life/engagement/essc/.   Email civicengagement@alfredstate.edu with any questions.

The Last Day to Drop a Full-Term Class is Friday, March 28, 2025 at 4pm

  • Students must work with their academic department to complete a Course Change Notice to drop a class
  • The completed Course Change Notice should be brought to the Student Records and Financial Services Office for processing.  
  • Financial aid will review all course drops to determine any financial aid implications.   
  • A $20 fee is charged for a course drop. This fee can be paid online at my.AlfredState.edu/finances or in person at the Student Records and Financial Services Office.  A late fee will be added if it’s not paid within 30 days.

New Furniture in the Veteran Lounge

The Allegany Dwyer Program, which promotes events for local veterans, has generously purchased new furniture for our Veteran Lounge in EJ Brown.  Alfred State Veterans United Club and the Veteran Advisory Committee would like to welcome our veterans on campus to come by the lounge 11 am on Tuesday,  March 25 enjoy some coffee and help us test out the new seating!

Room selection will begin March 31, 2025 for students whose tuition deposit is received by March 25.  

For those who have not paid their tuition deposit by March 26, room selection will begin on April 14, 2025. 

You will need to have your housing application completed in order to select your room! 

Selecting your room instructions:

  1. Log into your my.alfredstate.edu
  2. Select the “Housing” icon
  3. Return to "Housing Overview" 
  4.  Select the green "Browse Rooms"
  5. You can search for specific rooms by building/section and/or other residence preferences set up. This may take a couple of attempts pending on your preferences and room availability. "No bed available" will appear if there is not a room available through the preferences you set up. 
  6. Click the "bed" icon to select your room of choice. 
  7. Dialog window will be prompted with details of the selected room. 
  8. Click the "choose this bed" button
  9. Review the details of your room reservation. Click on "Assign me now" to confirm your assignment.  Click the "look at other rooms" link to browse other rooms. 

Please note individual room selection will close on August 1, 2025

Thursday, March 27- 29 or less credit hours completed

Grant Money Available for your Spring Bill

Alfred State College has been awarded funding through NYS for the Aid for Part-Time Study (APTS) grant for the 2024-2025 academic year.  Students may be eligible to receive up to $1,000 for the Spring semester. 

Part-time students may obtain an application online at https://www.alfredstate.edu/financial-aid/forms or by emailing sfs@alfredstate.edu.  

Students who received APTS funding for the Fall 2024 semester DO NOT need to submit another application for spring 2025.

Eligibility criteria include:

Matriculated student consistently enrolled between three (3) and eleven (11) credit hours per semester.

Enrolled in at least one full term course this semester.

New York State resident

Completed 2024-2025 FAFSA application

Meet satisfactory academic progress

Not receiving TAP or Part-Time TAP this semester

Applicants are required to submit a signed 2022 New York State Income Tax return for student (or parent if applicable) along with the signed APTS application.  Applications will not be reviewed until all documentation has been submitted and signed.

Forward the completed application and required tax forms to sfs@alfredstate.edu.  The deadline for the Spring 2025 semester is Friday, April 11, 2025.

Submission of an APTS application does not guarantee receipt of an award.  Students who are not eligible will receive an email through their Alfred State email account indicating the reason for ineligibility.

Leadership Suite Applications Are Open

Do you belong to a club or organization actively involved in making a difference in the larger community? Are you solving problems, taking on opportunities, and using your passion and skills to help others? This could take the form of volunteerism, community service trips, public awareness campaigns, fundraising efforts, advocacy, and education.

If so, we invite you to view our Civic Engagement Pioneer page to submit a Leadership Suite proposal. Leadership Suites are designed to celebrate our clubs and organizations leading the way with civic action and help broaden visibility to get others involved in community-minded causes and initiatives locally, regionally, and/or globally.  

Generally, there are 2-5 suites up for review each semester. Suite applications must be submitted by May 4th, 2025, to be considered for Fall 2025.
