Student Announce April 8, 2025

Alfred State Drama Club presents Alice in Wonderland, based on the classic by Lewis Carroll and adapted by Anne Coulter Martens. Alice was just playing in the grass when suddenly an intriguing white rabbit passes her by. Little does Alice know that when she chases him, she’ll find herself down the rabbit hole and into a strange land, full of wonder and an assortment of mysterious characters! Desperately trying to get home, Alice will meet all the residents of Wonderland with plenty of adventure along the way! Join the Mad Hatter, Mr. White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, and more as we help Alice find her way back home.

This show is appropriate for all audiences and is open to all! Tickets can be purchased at the campus store in advance via CSA, cash, or card but you may also purchase tickets for CASH ONLY at the door. Tickets are $5 for students of any kind and $10 for general admission. Performances will be at 7 pm on April 10th, 11th, & 12th in the Cappadonia Auditorium of the Orvis Activities Center. Join in the fun at the stadium on Tuesday, April 8 at 6pm to support our new women's lacrosse team during Division III Week! Whether you're a longtime fan or new to the sport, this is the perfect chance to learn the rules, enjoy free snacks, and celebrate all things D3. Handouts and fun lacrosse facts will be available, so come cheer on the team and be part of something special. See you there!

The residence halls close Saturday, May 10th at 7:30 pm, so all students will need to be out of the residence halls at that time.  If you need to stay past the closing time, please email your Resident Director or Area Coordinator with the reason you need to stay to request approval to stay late. 

Need to stay for Summer? 

Only students who have been approved to stay for the break will be allowed in the residence halls after that time. All others may be charged with trespassing.

There is a $50 charge per week for summer housing. Payments must be paid within 30 days of your bill, any remaining amount at the end of the summer will be placed onto your student account in the form of a hold. Additional information on acceptable payment methods and payment locations will be provided to those approved for summer break housing. 

Students will only be approved who:

• Live over 500 miles away (according to your home Banner Address)
• Have a Special Circumstance (ex. You do not have a place to go, homeless, etc.)
• Working for the college during the break (with Supervisors Approval)
• Have an athletic commitment (with Athletics approval)
• International Student
• Taking summer classes (will be confirmed with your academic advisor and/or class professor)

If you wish to apply for break housing, please complete the "Summer Break Housing Request" form on eRezLife. To access eRezLife, log into your my.alfredstatet.edu and select the "Choose Housing and Meal Plan" option.

Requests for Airport Shuttle to the Rochester Airport must be submitted via the Online travel request form for rides up to the Rochester Airport.

• Dogs MUST be friendly with other dogs and people 
• Dogs MUST be fully up to date on vaccinations and shots 
• Dogs must be on a leash when not racing 
• Dogs must have a collar with forms of identification 
• Dogs are allowed to wear costumes

If your dog does not win, please don't leave! All dogs who run get a small prize at the end!

The Office of Residential Services has opened guest pre-registration for those Alfred State students who live on campus that would like to have off-campus guests during Hot Dog Day Weekend.  Although pre-registration is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged so you can skip the long wait of registering your guest with a staff member.

Students may only have one on-campus or off-campus at a time during Hot Dog weekend. Your guest should also be over the age of 17, otherwise they will not be permitted to stay in the residence hall. 

Pre-registration will run until Friday, April 18th.  Final approvals will be made on Tuesday, April 22nd.

Do you belong to a club or organization actively involved in making a difference in the larger community? Are you solving problems, taking on opportunities, and using your passion and skills to help others? This could take the form of volunteerism, community service trips, public awareness campaigns, fundraising efforts, advocacy, and education.

If so, we invite you to view our Civic Engagement Pioneer page to submit a Leadership Suite proposal. Leadership Suites are designed to celebrate our clubs and organizations leading the way with civic action and help broaden visibility to get others involved in community-minded causes and initiatives locally, regionally, and/or globally.  

Generally, there are 2-5 suites up for review each semester. Suite applications must be submitted by May 4th, 2025, to be considered for Fall 2025.

Alfred State College has been awarded funding through NYS for the Aid for Part-Time Study (APTS) grant for the 2024-2025 academic year.  Students may be eligible to receive up to $1,000 for the Spring semester. 

Part-time students may obtain an application online at https://www.alfredstate.edu/financial-aid/forms or by emailing sfs@alfredstate.edu.  

Students who received APTS funding for the Fall 2024 semester DO NOT need to submit another application for spring 2025.

Eligibility criteria include:

Matriculated student consistently enrolled between three (3) and eleven (11) credit hours per semester.

Enrolled in at least one full term course this semester.

New York State resident

Completed 2024-2025 FAFSA application

Meet satisfactory academic progress

Not receiving TAP or Part-Time TAP this semester

Applicants are required to submit a signed 2022 New York State Income Tax return for student (or parent if applicable) along with the signed APTS application.  Applications will not be reviewed until all documentation has been submitted and signed.

Forward the completed application and required tax forms to sfs@alfredstate.edu.  The deadline for the Spring 2025 semester is Friday, April 11, 2025.

Submission of an APTS application does not guarantee receipt of an award.  Students who are not eligible will receive an email through their Alfred State email account indicating the reason for ineligibility.

Would you be interested in some community service for Spring into Action Month? Projects will run at the Community Garden on Friday, April 11, 18, and 25 from 1 pm to 4 pm. The garden is located behind the vet tech complex, and transportation can be provided via the loop bus. The Student Senate General Assembly (GA) provides the opportunity for all Students of Alfred State to discuss issues/concerns and hear updates in regard to all matters that affect campus life. These topics include, but are not limited to:

This semester the Student Senate Executive Board will be raffling off three $250 gift cards at the last General Assembly (GA) on 12/3/2024. To receive a ticket for the raffle you must attend a GA meeting throughout the semester. Each attendance will earn you one ticket.

Attendees must show up on time. Late attendance forfeits your ability to receive your raffle ticket.

Allegany County needs YOUR help for their community health survey and as a student that attends ASC your opinion matters! The survey is quite important as it is only conducted every 6 years now and is used to assess the needs of our community members across the county. The responses that are collected from the survey guide programming and suggests what are necessary interventions, several community organizations, schools, parks, and even churches depend on the data from this survey to support grant writing. The Vet Tech Club is hosting their spring dog wash on Sunday April 13 from 10 am to 2 pm. It will be held in the HOPR of the SLC. This is a basic wash, NO grooming (dematting, detangling, clipping, etc) is available. Open to students and faculty of Alfred State as well as members of the community. Well behaved dogs only! All dogs must be leashed and up to date on vaccinations.

Room selection will begin March 31, 2025 for students whose tuition deposit is received by March 25.  

For those who have not paid their tuition deposit by March 26, room selection will begin on April 14, 2025. 

You will need to have your housing application completed in order to select your room!

2. Select the “Housing” icon
3. Return to "Housing Overview" 
4.  Select the green "Browse Rooms"
5. You can search for specific rooms by building/section and/or other residence preferences set up. This may take a couple of attempts pending on your preferences and room availability. "No bed available" will appear if there is not a room available through the preferences you set up. 
6. Click the "bed" icon to select your room of choice. 
7. Dialog window will be prompted with details of the selected room. 
8. Click the "choose this bed" button
9. Review the details of your room reservation. Click on "Assign me now" to confirm your assignment.  Click the "look at other rooms" link to browse other rooms.
