Mackenzie Renovation – Celebration

Join us in the Mackenzie Commons on Monday, April 29th (3pm) as we celebrate the progress of a six-year renovation project serving more than 1100 students living in our Residence Halls.  The event will include remarks by President Mauro, Matthew Ryan (Residential Life) and four of our Architectural students (JoAnna Musacchio, Connor Weihoneig, Colin Thompson and John Snyder III), who have created concepts for the Mackenzie outdoor spaces.  The event will feature refreshments and a tour of the newest section of the renovation to open (“C” Tower).

STUEY Award Nominations & Ceremony

It’s that time of year to acknowledge all the hard work that has been done by our clubs and organizations for the 2023-2024 academic year! This year's annual Student Engagement Award show will take place Wednesday, May 1st, 5pm-7pm, Location TBA. Please click here to nominate any qualifying person or event that you feel is deserving (you can nominate individuals/events for more than one award)! Nominations will close Monday, April 29th.

C.S.I: Alfred

The Alfred State Computer and Information Technology (CIT) Department invites you to participate in C.S.I Alfred; a Cybercrime Investigation Competition.

This virtual competition will test your skills in the following subjects: cryptography, open-source Intelligence, and digital forensics.   Participation does not require previous experience and is designed for a variety of skill levels.  During the competition, you will also be exposed to some of the Alfred State CIT department offerings during the Microsoft Teams broadcast (this link will be provided). 

To be held in the Engineering Building Rooms 440 and 443.

Minecraft Mayhem

Minecraft Mayhem: April 27th 10am to 2 pm.  To be held in the Engineering building, room 446.

Minecraft Mayhem is an Alfred State Information Security Team student event to have fun with Minecraft and maybe learn a thing or two about programming and cyber security.

World Tai Chi Day on Saturday

Join us at the hairpin turn on the hill above Alfred University campus on Saturday, April 27th at 10:00 am. We will do some Qigong and Tai Chi, joining with others around the world in spirit. The hairpin turn has a great vista to help capture the essence of communing with others of like mind. Promoting this relaxing, peaceful movement brings a sense of harmony. This free event is open to all community members, students, faculty and staff and is brought to the Alfred community by the Tai Chi Society of Western New York.

Parking lot Closures on 4/26-University Police

Parking lots 18, 21, 22, 23 and 26 will be closing on 4/26 at 4 pm for Honors Convocation.  The lots will remain closed until Sunday 4/28 after Honors Convocation concludes.  Students may use lots 19, 20 and 20a for alternate parking.

Food For Fine

Do you have a parking ticket? Or want to donate to the campus food pantry? Bring 9-12 good condition, non-expired, canned food items to SLC Criminal Justice Suite 411 during office hours (hours posted on our door), or the Student Senate Suite 304. One ticket forgiveness per participant. Partnership with Civic Engagement, Student Senate, and University Police.

Esports Room Open Hours

Esports will be hosting Open Hours in SLC 319 starting Friday, April 5, and ending on Sunday, May 5. Feel free to stop by the room to play some of the games we have on the computers or play your own!

Open Hours will be as follows: 
Fridays: 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Saturdays: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Sundays: 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Gender Inclusive Housing Application

Gender Inclusive Housing Application is now open for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Gender Inclusive Housing is a housing option that allows individuals who are not the same gender, who may identify outside of the gender binary (male or female), who may be questioning aspects of their sexuality/gender or who may be in the process (or completed) a gender transition to live in an environment that is safe and supportive.

Summer 2024 Break Housing Application

Summer 2024 Break Housing Application Now Open!!!

Residence halls will close at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, for the Spring Break. The Residence halls will reopen for fall 2024 on August 22. Residential Services is aware that the final bus scheduled to leave Alfred leaves Sunday, May 12 at 7:45 a.m. 

Only students who have been approved to stay for the break will be allowed in the residence halls.

All others may be charged with trespassing.

Students will only be approved who:

  • Live over 500 miles away (according to your home Banner Address)
  • International Student
  • Athletic Commitment during the break (will be verified with Athletics)
  • Have a Special Circumstance (ex. You do not have a place to go)
  • Working for the college during the break (with Supervisors Approval)
  • Taking summer classes (will need to confirm with your academic advisor and/or class professor)

If you wish to apply to stay for the break, please complete the "Summer Break Housing Request" form on eRezLife. To access this form, please sign in to my.alfredstate.edu, select "Housing," and then select the "Summer Break Housing Request" form. 

Please note, that this form will close at Noon on Monday, May 6. 

Prior to leaving for summer break please be sure to: 

  • Remove all your belongings.
  • Check out of your room with the RA staff.
  • Sweep out the room (there should be a broom available in the staff office)
  • Turn in your room key with the RA staff.

Your room will be inspected by a member of the Residential Life staff to ensure windows and blinds/ shades are closed and your room door is locked. Please notify your Resident Assistant of an approximate time you will be leaving campus. 

**Please be aware that there will be a cost of $50.00 per week to reside on campus over the summer**

Fall 2024 Room Selection for New Students          

Selecting your Room! 

Room selection will begin April 1, 2024 for students whose tuition deposit is received by March 26.  

For those who have not paid their tuition deposit by March 26, room selection will begin on April 15, 2024. 

You will need to have your housing application completed in order to select your room! 

Selecting your room instructions:

  1. Log into your my.alfredstate.edu
  2. Select the “Housing” icon
  3. Return to "Housing Overview" 
  4.  Select the green "Browse Rooms"
  5. You can search for specific rooms by building/section and/or other residence preferences set up. This may take a couple of attempts pending on your preferences and room availability. "No bed available" will appear if there is not a room available through the preferences you set up. 
  6. Click the "bed" icon to select your room of choice. 
  7. Dialog window will be prompted with details of the selected room. 
  8. Click the "choose this bed" button
  9. Review the details of your room reservation. Click on "Assign me now" to confirm your assignment.  Click the "look at other rooms" link to browse other rooms. 

Please note individual room selection will close on August 1, 2024

Selecting your Room! 

Room selection will begin March 25, 2024 and will be released based on completed credit hours as follows: 

Monday, March 25 – 90+ Credit Hours Completed

Tuesday, March 26, 60+ credit hours completed

Wednesday, March 27, 30+ credit hours completed

Thursday, March 28 , 29 or less credit hours completed
