New Alfred State Shirts - Arbor Day Fundraiser

Alfred States Community Garden has partnered with The Center for Civic Leadership to revive Arbor Day celebrations!  Tree-themed Alfred State shirts will be sold for $15.00 at the Campus Store to help us fund our celebrations. Proceeds from shirt sales will support Arbor Day funding, helping us purchase fruit trees, which will be planted near Alfred States Community Garden for present and future generations to nurture and enjoy.  Help us plant roots for the future and support us through the purchase of these shirts and mark Arbor Day (April 25th) on your calendars so you can join us for our tree planting ceremony and garden party (more information to come). In addition, if you are looking for a way to volunteer in lead up to the event, our Community Garden Coordinator is looking for volunteers to help spruce up the garden in time for spring plantings throughout the month of April.

Should you have any questions or want to get involved, please reach out to Tom Kacalski (KacalsTD@alfredstate.edu) or Cyan Corwine (corwincy@alfredstate.edu)

Community Needs Hub - Open Hours and Donations

The Civic Leadership team has been busy filling pantry requests from our new location on the ground floor of Braddon Hall and after a pause on in-person service for some maintenance, we are once again open to wider community for shopping in our thrift store.  If you haven’t checked us out yet, we invite you to stop by! We are grateful to be able to have this space for your campus community and are currently seeking donations.

Our hours of operation in the Community Needs Hub (ground floor of Braddon Hall) are*:

  • Monday 9-5
  • Tuesday 10-5
  • Wednesday 9-5
  • Thursday 9-1
  • Friday 9-5
  • Saturday 10-4
  • Sunday 9-4

*While we aim to have abide by the above hours, there are occasionally changes in staff availability, so we have a large blue feather flag that says OPEN to help signify when we are open for business.

*Space is limited but we are happy to receive any clean/good condition clothing and non-perishable food or hygiene items if you are interested in donating. Donations can be dropped off during open hours in our Community Needs Hub, which is accessed through the two front facing doors on ground floor of Braddon Hall or dropped off in our donation bin at the 3rd floor entrance of the SLC.  Alternatively, you can email civicengagement@alfredstate.edu to make drop off plans.

Thank you for your continued support!
