Public debate on athletic/extracurricular requirement
Please join the English & Humanities department and the Debate Club for a brief student debate followed by an open public forum at 2-3:30 pm Thurs, May 1 in the SLC small events space.
Resolved: ASC should require all full-time students to participate in a varsity sport or other extracurricular activity of equivalent rigor.

Know Your Rights Workshop: LGBT Protections, April 16th, 5pm-7 pm, Small Events Space
The Center for Civic Leadership and Cultural Life Center invite you to join us, alongside Dr. Angela Graves for an LGBT Know Your Rights Workshop. This workshop will cover LGBT and specifically Trans students rights state wise and federally within a turbulent political climate. Refreshments and resources will be provided. All are welcome to attend!
Alice in Wonderland - Drama Club Production
Alfred State Drama Club presents Alice in Wonderland, based on the classic by Lewis Carroll and adapted by Anne Coulter Martens. Alice was just playing in the grass when suddenly an intriguing white rabbit passes her by. Little does Alice know that when she chases him, she’ll find herself down the rabbit hole and into a strange land, full of wonder and an assortment of mysterious characters! Desperately trying to get home, Alice will meet all the residents of Wonderland with plenty of adventure along the way! Join the Mad Hatter, Mr. White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, and more as we help Alice find her way back home.
This show is appropriate for all audiences and is open to all! Tickets can be purchased at the campus store in advance via CSA, cash, or card but you may also purchase tickets for CASH ONLY at the door. Tickets are $5 for students of any kind and $10 for general admission. Performances will be at 7 pm on April 10th, 11th, & 12th in the Cappadonia Auditorium of the Orvis Activities Center. Summer Aid Application Now Available!
Planning to take summer courses? If you’re interested in using financial aid to pay for summer classes, complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA and the Summer Aid Application. Once your application is reviewed, your eligibility details will be sent to your ASC email.
How to Apply for Summer Aid:
Step 1: Complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA at StudentAid.gov.
Step 2: Go to my.AlfredState.edu/finances and select “Submit Financial Aid Forms (Verification)” to access Alfred State Student Forms.
- First-time user? You may need to set up your account before proceeding.
- Once your account is set up, click “Manage Request” at the top of the page and select “Summer Aid Application.”
- Important: The Summer Aid Application will not be an available option unless you have completed the 2025-2026 FAFSA.

Special Event: Please join us on Thursday, April 17 from 11:30am-2:30pm and have the opportunity to give someone a 2nd Chance At Life! Christopher’s Challenge will be holding a bone marrow drive and will be there to educate and type people between the ages of 18-55 who would like to be added to the DKMS Registry. If someone relapses from a disease such as leukemia, their only hope to survive is to have a marrow transplant. Their sibling is the most likely match but if they do not match, then a search begins in the Registry. That is where you come in – you can get typed on April 17 and you may be that person that saves someone’s life. The initial testing is to complete a brief registration and a cheek swab. 2025 Hot Dog Day Guest Pre-Registration
The Office of Residential Services has opened guest pre-registration for those Alfred State students who live on campus that would like to have off-campus guests during Hot Dog Day Weekend. Although pre-registration is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged so you can skip the long wait of registering your guest with a staff member.
Students may only have one on-campus or off-campus at a time during Hot Dog weekend. Your guest should also be over the age of 17, otherwise they will not be permitted to stay in the residence hall.
Pre-registration will run until Friday, April 18th. Final approvals will be made on Tuesday, April 22nd.

'How to Overcome a Bad Day' Workshop - SSC
The Student Success Center will be hosting the How to Overcome a Bad Day Workshop on Wednesday, April 9th at 5pm in the Student Development Center, Room 109. Everyone has had one - a day that just does not go as planned. Sometimes we wake up and just feel off, or sometimes it feels everyone we try to do goes wrong. This workshop will discuss options on how to overcome these days. Learn how to learn how to control your day, rather than be a victim of a bad day.

Interested in representing your organization in the Hot Dog Day Parade?!
Showcase your organization in the Hot Dog Day parade on Saturday, April 26, 2025. The line-up will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Park Street (by the Saxon Inn). The parade will begin promptly at 12:00 p.m. and proceed down Main St. to Church Street. We request an outline of what you would like to do during the parade. Please understand that the Hot Dog Day committee has the right to deny any request for participation in the parade. All approvals/denials will be done in writing by April 11th.

Allegany County needs YOUR help for their community health survey and as a student that attends ASC your opinion matters! The survey is quite important as it is only conducted every 6 years now and is used to assess the needs of our community members across the county. The responses that are collected from the survey guide programming and suggests what are necessary interventions, several community organizations, schools, parks, and even churches depend on the data from this survey to support grant writing. Dirty Dog? Get it Washed!
The Vet Tech Club is hosting their spring dog wash on Sunday April 13 from 10 am to 2 pm. It will be held in the HOPR of the SLC. This is a basic wash, NO grooming (dematting, detangling, clipping, etc) is available. Open to students and faculty of Alfred State as well as members of the community. Well behaved dogs only! All dogs must be leashed and up to date on vaccinations.
Basic dog wash $10

Package (wash, ears, nails) $15

Room selection will begin March 31, 2025 for students whose tuition deposit is received by March 25.
For those who have not paid their tuition deposit by March 26, room selection will begin on April 14, 2025.
You will need to have your housing application completed in order to select your room!
Selecting your room instructions:
- Log into your my.alfredstate.edu
- Select the “Housing” icon
- Return to "Housing Overview"
- Select the green "Browse Rooms"
- You can search for specific rooms by building/section and/or other residence preferences set up. This may take a couple of attempts pending on your preferences and room availability. "No bed available" will appear if there is not a room available through the preferences you set up.
- Click the "bed" icon to select your room of choice.
- Dialog window will be prompted with details of the selected room.
- Click the "choose this bed" button
- Review the details of your room reservation. Click on "Assign me now" to confirm your assignment. Click the "look at other rooms" link to browse other rooms.
Please note individual room selection will close on August 1, 2025
