First Year Prom - RSVP!

Celebrate the end of your first year at Alfred State with your peers at our inaugural First-Year Prom! A team of first-year students have been working hard to put this together for their class and are excited to announce that the theme is: Starfall Ball. Enjoy the evening "under the stars" in the MacKenzie Commons from 8:30PM-1AM. There will be a DJ, decor, dancing, hors d'ourves, and more! 

  • This is for first-year students ONLY, & one guest per student is allowed. 
  • Non-ASC students are allowed as a guest, but must fill out the guest form on eRezLife.
  • If you need assistance with finding proper attire, please contact our Director of Student Engagement at duenodm@alfredstate.edu.
  • Ticket cost is $10 for a single guest and $15 for a couple. We accept cash or you can stop by the campus store to use CSA.
  •  In order to attend, you must RSVP on Pioneer Link!

Spring Hunting Permits

Spring hunting permits for small game and turkey will be available at University Police Monday, April 1st beginning at 7:00 A.M.  We have a limited number of 25 to be issued.  

 

Please stop at UPD’s dispatch located in the Theta Gamma House and bring a driver’s license of other form of ID.  

 

Hunting at the College Farm property is limited to the farmhouse side of Route 244.

Trash to Fashion – Sign up to create a trash-ion look for our Earth Day action and awareness initiative!

Calling all creatives and environmental advocates. The Center for Civic Leadership is preparing for an action-packed Earth Day celebration (April 22nd) and this year’s theme is Planet vs. Plastics. 

In our effort to call awareness to two big Earth Day initiatives, plastic pollution and Fast Fashion we invite our campus community to sign up to create a Trash to Fashion look to showcase as part of our days events. We have a few different categories you can enter under, and we will have prizes awarded for crowd favorite, creativity, and most impactful environmental message.

Spring 2024 Dinner Theater

Prepare for an enchanting evening of theater as the Drama Club proudly presents "Alibis," a spellbinding series of mini-plays that will captivate your imagination.

Dates and Times:

  • Thursday, April 11: General Admission Show
    • Show starts at 7:00 PM
    • Doors open at 6:30 PM
  • Friday, April 12 & Saturday, April 13: Dinner Theater
    • Doors open at 5:30 PM
    • Dinner is served at 6:00 PM

Ticket Information:

  • To purchase tickets, please contact the campus store.
  • Tickets can be purchased with cash, card, 2 meal swipes, or dining dollars for students.

Ticket Prices:

  • Thursday (April 11): General Admission - $5 for students, $10 for general admission. Tickets for Thursday's show will be available for purchase up to the date of the performance.
  • Friday (April 12) & Saturday (April 13): Dinner Theater - $25 per ticket. Tickets for the dinner theater performances must be purchased by Friday, April 5th. No exceptions will be made.

Register for the Hot Dog Day Parade!

Hot Dog Day is on Saturday, April 20th this year.  And what is Hot Dog Day in Alfred without the annual parade to kick of the festivities? In addition to the parade and the vendors on Main Street, Alfred State is hosting a Spring Carnival from 1PM - 5PM.  The Carnival is taking place in Parking Lot #3 near the Townhouses and SLC.  There will be food vendors, games, a DJ, and FREE rides!

E-Bikes

It is that time of the year again where E-Bikes are available to use free of charge! Please see below for information regarding the bikes. 

You must be 18 years or older to utilize the E-Bikes

  • This form can be found on the Recreation Pioneer Link Page, or you can scan the QR codes around the SLC. 

All reservations requests must be submitted a minimum of one business day before your reservation time. All bikes being requested for the weekend must be requested by 3:30pm on Friday.

  • This is to make sure that we have staff available to hand out bikes.

Operational Policies: Operational time is 11am-7pm Monday-Friday and 10am-5pm Saturday-Sunday - 2 hour maximum!

  • Last reservations are 5pm M-F and 3pm Saturday/Sunday for two-hour periods. No bikes should travel further than the Dollar General in Alfred. Please follow the rules of the road. 

Helmets and safety training are provided before departure. Helmets must be worn at all times when utilizing the bike.

Passover Services

Hillel at Alfred (Alfred University) will be hosting its annual Passover services and dinner on Monday April 22, 2024, starting at 5:30pm in the Knight Club in the Powell Campus Center. Feel free to bring your friends and family, as we create community and retell stories from the Haggadah. The meal will have a suggested donation of $10 per person. Goat Yoga class

The Vet Tech Club is sponsoring a Goat Yoga class! 

Event date Saturday March 30, 2024 at the ASC Farm. Pick a class time - either 10am or 11am. 

Registration is $10 and must be paid in advance by Friday March 29 at 4pm to reserve your spot. Space is limited! A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Hornell Humane Society. 

Some yoga mats available or bring your own. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. Suggested to bring water and a towel.

Lot 4 Student Parking- University Police

Due to the continued construction on the campus, Parking Lot 4 will temporarily be designated as an all-Student Parking area. This means all residential and commuter students will be allowed to park in Lot 4. As a reminder according to the parking regulations, Commuter Students can park in any Student or Commuter assigned lot across our campus. University Police wish to remind our students that Faculty/ Staff lots are designated for Faculty and Staff, and we will continue to enforce this regulation with the issuance of parking tickets. NYC Bus Trip - April 27th

NYS Bus Trip sponsored by Student Senate. 

Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at the campus store. Seating is limited so pick yours up fast.

The bus will pick students up from the SLC parking lot at 5:00am and arrive at the New York Public Library at approximately 10:45am.

The bus will leave from the New York Public Library at 8:00pm and arrive back to Alfred at approximately 1:45am. 

Students interested in going must purchase their ticket by Wednesday, April 24th. Be aware that all students attending must provide their own funds to purchase food and other desires during their trip.

TIE Etiquette Dinner

Come join us Thursday, April 4th in the Allegany Room (CDH), for a dinner where students and staff members will be able to interact in a great setting. This will be a great opportunity to mingle with different professors and on campus Professionals and Staff members. We will be having a social happy hour with mocktails from 5-6pm, after a presentation on dinner etiquette will start promptly at 6pm followed by the dinner. Run for Student Senate Executive Board

Interested in running for the Student Senate Executive Board?

All positions earn a base pay of $15/hour for a maximum of 8 hours per week.

Elections will take place April 10th - April 12th.

A mandatory interest meeting will be scheduled for all potential candidates between Monday, March 18 – Tuesday, April 9th. Failure to attend will result in removal from the ballot.

Must be available every Tuesday from 5:00p to 8:00p for the academic year 2024-2025.

Fall 2024 Room Selection for New Students          

Selecting your Room! 

Room selection will begin April 1, 2024 for students whose tuition deposit is received by March 26.  

For those who have not paid their tuition deposit by March 26, room selection will begin on April 15, 2024. 

You will need to have your housing application completed in order to select your room! 

Selecting your room instructions:

  1. Log into your my.alfredstate.edu
  2. Select the “Housing” icon
  3. Return to "Housing Overview" 
  4.  Select the green "Browse Rooms"
  5. You can search for specific rooms by building/section and/or other residence preferences set up. This may take a couple of attempts pending on your preferences and room availability. "No bed available" will appear if there is not a room available through the preferences you set up. 
  6. Click the "bed" icon to select your room of choice. 
  7. Dialog window will be prompted with details of the selected room. 
  8. Click the "choose this bed" button
  9. Review the details of your room reservation. Click on "Assign me now" to confirm your assignment.  Click the "look at other rooms" link to browse other rooms. 

Please note individual room selection will close on August 1, 2024

Fall 2024 Housing Application Launches March 1

New, transfer, and returning students can log into Housing to complete your housing application for the fall 2024 semester beginning on March 1! 

Please note the actual room selection will being at a later date. Keep an eye on Student Announce for further details. 

Please follow these instructions: 

  1. Log into your my.alfredstate.edu
  2. Select the “Housing” icon
  3. All housing application forms are available under the Housing Overview tab. You will also have a recommended action to 'Apply for Housing' that will take you to the housing overview.
  4. Click the "Apply Now" button beside the housing you wish to apply.
  5. If you haven't completed your housing profile and profile questions, you may be required to complete both the housing profile and housing profile questions before proceeding to the housing application form.
  6. Once you have completed the housing profile and profile questions, you will be re-directed to your homepage. You can then use the recommended action or the housing overview to reopen the application. Select your Residence building preference by choosing the building that you would most like to live from the list on the left. You can reorder or remove preferences in the box on the left. Click "Save" to save your data, or click "Save and Continue" to proceed.
  7. Complete all questions on the application form. Mandatory questions on the application are marked with a red asterisk mark. After completing your application form, click "Save" to save your data, or click "Save and continue" to continue with your housing application process.
  8. On the Confirm Application page, carefully review your application details and check off the three terms listed indicating that you understand and agree with all statements.

Once your housing application is completed activate your RoomeeZ profile to find potential roommates! Please follow these instructions to activate and create your RoomeeZ profile.

  1. Turn on your profile under “My roommate profile.”
  2. Fill out the required fields on your roommate profile.
  3. Select which information you want shared with other students.
  4. Enter any social media and contact information you want to share.

You are now complete and can search for a potential roommate with other students who have created a RoomeeZ profile.
