Students of Color Leadership Conference (SOCLC), Saturday February 22nd, 10 am-3 pm, SUNY Alfred State
Registration is open for the 2025 Students of Color Leadership Conference. The conference takes place on Saturday, February 22nd from 10:00am-3:00 pm at SUNY Alfred State in the Student Leadership Center. It promises to be an inspiring day filled with breakout sessions, prizes, a dynamic keynote speaker, live musical performances, catered cultural cuisine, and an illuminating and timely panel discussion. Last Day to Drop Without a Fee
Students can process a course change notice without a fee until 11 am on Monday, February 10, 2025.
After this date, a $20 drop fee will be assessed. Students may pay the fee online by visiting my.alfredstate.edu/finances > View/Pay your Bill, or in the Student Records and Financial Services Office located in 10 Elm.
Students Looking To Change Their Major?
- The Degree Program Change Form is used to change from one degree program (major) to another.
- Degree Program Changes for the Spring 2025 semester cannot be processed after February 14, 2025. Any requests received after the deadline will be processed for the next semester.
- Students must notify both their current department chair and the department chair of the new program and both chairs must approve and sign the Degree Program Change Form.
- The new department chair must list each course to be excluded from the new program. Please refer to Academic Regulation 305.3 for more information on course exclusion policies.
Apply to Graduate May 2025
All students completing degree requirements this semester need to apply to graduate (diplomas are not automatically awarded) by visiting my.AlfredState.edu/registration > Graduation and Commencement > Apply for Graduation. Prospective graduates should contact their academic department to ensure graduation requirements have been met and view their degree progress on DegreeWorks.
The deadline to apply for a May 2025 diploma is February 24, 2025.
- There is NO fee for the graduation application.
- Students with a minor OR students in a 4-year program looking to earn the corresponding 2-year degree (once requirements are met) must apply to graduate by filling out a Paper Degree Application.
- Please DO NOT apply for August 2025 graduation at this time.
- Graduating students who plan to return this fall (in a new program) must apply for readmission through the Admissions Office. Readmission Applicants are unable to register until their application is approved.

Calling all first-year students! Do you excel at event planning, have exciting ideas, looking for leadership experience, or just want to be more involved on campus? The Office of Student Engagement is looking for first-year students who would be interested in joining a First Year Prom Committee. Join the Prom Committee and help design a night your classmates will never forget - from theme selection to entertainment, your input matters! Be a part of creating the ultimate prom experience!

Notary Public Training
How to Take and Pass the New York State Notary Examination Training
Date/Time: March 14, 2025, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Location: PHS 107
Cost: $125 includes required course textbook (book will be provided at training)
This practical seminar helps prepare participants to successfully pass the NYS official notary examination. Four sample examinations and answer keys are provided to every participant as a self-study aid for review after the seminar. Attendance at this seminar is a MUST for every state notary examinee to properly prepare for the duties, authority and responsibility of holding a NYS notary commission.
Trainer: Alfred E. Piombino is the leading New York and national notary law and practice expert. He has personally prepared tens of thousands of people from across New York to pass the official examination. Piombino is the author of nine books, including Notary Public Handbook: A Guide for New York, Fourth Edition, court expert witness and is listed in Who's Who in American Law.

'Tackling Assignments' Workshop - SSC
The Student Success Center will be hosting the Tackling Assignments Workshop on Thursday, February 6th at 5pm in the Student Development Center, Room 109. If your approach to assignments/homework is to complete them with the least amount of time & effort, then this workshop is for you! You will learn how to: 1. take notes and make them meaningful, 2. track and complete assignments, and 3. utilize valuable feedback.

8 a.m. Buses begin to arrive at Orvis or Wellsville PSU, depending on origin
9 a.m. Contests scheduled to start
12 noon - 1 p.m. Lunch – Alfred box lunches to be delivered to the Orvis gym or individual sites/buildings,
Wellsville – Wellsville box lunches to be delivered to the Pioneer Student Union
1 - 2 p.m. Continuation of competitions in some areas
2 p.m. Contests completed
2 - 2:30 p.m. Last contests to be tallied and results delivered to Orvis or faxed to 4331 in Orvis
2:15 p.m. Buses leave Wellsville for Alfred
3 - 4 p.m. All Skills USA personnel in the Orvis gym for Awards Ceremony

Questions from Skills USA visitors may be referred to the Orvis lobby or the Wellsville Zero Energy Home (Jen Graves at 3101).

RA's get leadership development, mentorship with professionals, soft skill development and a resume builder, opportunities to advance into paid positions, and getting their room paid for!
To qualify for the RA position, candidates must have a minimum 2.25 GPA (Semester & Cumulative) and no current student conduct status.

commUNITY Potluck Series returns – help us celebrate home, heritage, community and culture through food!
Make a dish to share a taste of “home” and help enhance our culture of care in Alfred. The Center for Civic Leadership is partnering with Union University to revive a commUNITY potluck initiative. This secular event welcomes all as we build commUNITY by engaging in conversation and sharing foods that evoke a feeling of home!
- Location: Union University Center (located on the corner of Main street and Church Street - side entrance on Church St.)
- Time: 6pm-8pm
- Dates: Wednesday, February 12th / Wednesday, March 19th / Wednesday, April 16th
- Sign up to Make and RSVP Here – Separate RSVP requested by Sunday before for each date so we can better prepare but it is not required. So even if you want to pop down to join us last minute to help foster community, you are welcome.
