This weeks Workforce Wednesday session 10/2/2024 is time for making a Career Fair Plan. See who is coming and strategize for the day of.

Wednesdays are for workforce preparation! This weekly drop in series in the Wellsville PSU computer lab will offer career planning and support every Wednesday. A full list of topics and dates is available here. Stop up any or every Wednesday any time between 2 and 4 pm. No registration required, no time limit on visits. After a 5 to 10 minute presentation there will be time for students to work applying presented content with coach and peer support.
Religious Freedom Panel (faith and civic life)
What is the First Amendment and how does it impact public life? Join us during Voter Education week as we explore religious freedom through the lens of different faith identities. Our panel will be comprised of professionals from the wider community, supporting our efforts to engage in meaningful dialogue across difference, while exploring faith, politics, discourse, and civic life. Voter resources and refreshments will be on offer.

Postal Art Show At Almond Library
The Almond Library is currently hosting an International Postal Art Show through Saturday, October 5. The library's hours are Tuesday - Friday 1:00 to 8:00 pm, and Saturday 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. The Art Show, "Artfull Communications" is the work of a local installation artist and features postal creations from 23 countries as well as many states from the US. Stop by the show, read some letters, touch some tactile art, and check out the Braille, and say "hello" to the librarians.

REV+FLOW by REFIT is a one of a kind workout that's kind to your body as you develop strength, toning, balance, and flexibility. This semester, enjoy a super fun playlist featuring ALL Taylor Swift songs! It's FREE for students, faculty and staff on Wednesdays from 5 - 6 pm in The Studio at the Pioneer Center. Grant Money Available for your Fall Semester Bill
Alfred State College has been awarded funding for the Aid for Part-Time Study (APTS) grant for the 2024-2025 academic year. Students may be eligible to receive up to $1,000 for the Fall semester.
Part-time students may obtain an application by emailing sfs@alfredstate.edu or visiting https://www.alfredstate.edu/financial-aid/forms and click on aid for Part-Time Study (APTS) application.
Some of the eligibility criteria for the APTS grant include:
- Be a matriculated student and consistently enrolled between three (3) and eleven (11) credit hours per semester
- Be a New York State resident
- Completed 2024-2025 FAFSA application
- Meet satisfactory academic progress
- Not receiving TAP or Part-Time TAP this semester
The deadline for the Fall semester is Friday, November 15, 2024.

Alfred's Got Talent Auditions - Last Call to Sign Up!
Do you have a hidden talent that you are ready to showcase for a chance to win a monetary prize?! We are hosting our final round of auditions this Thursday (10/3) & Friday (10/4).
We are so excited to announce that our annual talent show, Alfred's Got Talent, will be back for another year during Homecoming/Family Weekend and you can sign up for an audition now! The Talent Show will be on Saturday, October 19 in the Orvis Auditorium starting promptly at 7 p.m., however if performing, you must be there by 6 p.m. to allow for prep.

If you make it through auditions, you must be present at Alfred's Got Talent, as well as the Tech Rehearsals on Friday, October 18 in Orvis Auditorium. The time of the tech rehearsals is 4-7 p.m., you will only need to be present for your practice time slot, which will be assigned after auditions.

Homecoming Family Weekend 2024 Basket Raffle
Homecoming Family Weekend is fast approaching and it is time to start thinking about our Annual Basket Raffle! Is your department or organization interested in donating a basket for the raffle? We encourage you to come up with a unique and fun theme for your basket! Please reach out to Calsey Bump at BumpCE@alfredstate.edu or by calling X4959 to let us know if you are planning on donating a basket. Baskets will need to be wrapped in cellophane and delivered to the Office of Student Engagement in the Student Leadership Center no later than Wednesday, October 16th. Baskets will be displayed and tickets can be purchased in the Student Leadership Center in Room 204 on Friday, October 18th from 10am until 4pm and at the Pep Rally Friday night near the Pioneer Stadium from 6:30PM - 10PM. They will also be displayed at Homecoming on Saturday, October 19th during the tailgate festivities with tickets being drawn at halftime. Tickets will be sold as a sheet of 25 tickets for $10. You may purchase multiple sheets if desired.”

Cost: $125 includes required course textbook (book will be provided at training)
CSEA employees – please note: you may use a tuition benefit voucher to pay for the training course and then you can use the Certification & Licensure Examination Fee Reimbursement benefit to be reimbursed for the cost of the exam. This practical seminar helps prepare participants to successfully pass the NYS official notary examination. Four sample examinations and answer keys are provided to every participant as a self-study aid for review after the seminar. Attendance at this seminar is a MUST for every state notary examinee to properly prepare for the duties, authority and responsibility of holding a NYS notary commission.
Trainer: Alfred E. Piombino is the leading New York and national notary law and practice expert. He has personally prepared tens of thousands of people from across New York to pass the official examination. Piombino is the author of nine books, including Notary Public Handbook: A Guide for New York, Fourth Edition, court expert witness and is listed in Who's Who in American Law.
