Week of Welcome Schedule
New students schedule for the Week of Welcome beginning on August 22nd can be found at:

Students should review the schedule noting both mandatory and optional programming.
Commuters can pick up a printed copy of the schedule at mandatory academic events.
Residential students can locate printed versions in their Residence Hall (Office).

Emergency Drill August 31st - University Police
ALERT: Emergency Drill
Wednesday, August 31, 2020, at 10:10 a.m.
Alfred State will be conducting the drill to test its emergency procedures & systems on the Alfred Campus only.
During the drill – actively shelter-in-place to a location where you can:
- Lock or block the door
- Darken the room
- Silence cell phones
- Move to the safest wall (where you are out of sight)
- Strategize and coordinate with persons with you about what to do if your door is entered by a threat. Identify 2-4 “contact” persons who will volunteer to actively assist in getting the threat to the floor where they are unable to continue their actions.

Vehicle Parking Permits at University Police
Please put the following on Student Announce ‘daily’ or when there are student announces – ending Friday, September 2nd (from University Police - not me).
Attention:
- Resident Students – please pick up your parking permits at University Police between the hours of 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (Monday-Friday).
- Commuter Students – please pick up your parking permits anytime you are on campus at University Police.
Fitness Center hours
The Pioneer Fitness Center Hours beginning Monday will be from 10 AM – 8 PM and 1 PM – 6 PM on Saturday.
Health and Wellness on Instagram!
Health and Wellness Services wants to invite all students to follow them on Instagram @alfredstatehealthandwellness and Facebook at Alfred State College Health and Wellness Services. These accounts will provide updates on groups, health clinics, as well as general mental health tips.
Pioneer Stadium Parking Lot Closures - University Police
To facilitate activities for the Week Of Welcome, University Police will be closing parking lots 20, 20A and the Pioneer Stadium half of lot 19 on August 21st. The lots will remain closed until the conclusion of the week. Parking lot 18 will be available for stadium parking.
Pell recipients: Save money on internet service with new federal program
Dear Student!
Thanks to a new federal program, households with Pell recipients can now save money on internet access. The benefits of the Affordable Connectivity Program include:

Instrumental Music is Looking for New Members
Do you play an instrument? Would you like to start playing again or try something new? Come join Instrumental Music! We are a looking for new members to join this fall. Any skill level is welcome and school instruments are available. All music is picked by members of the group. There is one concert near the end of each semester. Rehearsals take place Wednesday and Thursday nights, 5:30-7pm. First rehearsal date to be announced. $4000 "You Can't Label People, but You Can Label Things" Essay Scholarship
The “You Can’t Label People, but You Can Label Things” Scholarship by Sttark awards $4,000 to a U.S. student pursuing a creative field of study who demonstrates ingenuity and originality through an essay and label design. Sttark is excited to invest in creative young people, regardless of their cultural, economic, or educational backgrounds. Any high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student from the U.S. is eligible to apply. Applicants are asked to create a 1,000-word essay and label design that illustrate the theme of the scholarship--products can be labeled but people can’t. Winners will be awarded for their imagination and great ideas, not their academic merit. All submissions must be received by November 30, 2022. Interested in politics? Want to be more involved on campus? Join Student Senate and be a voice for the student body! We need individuals that want to improve our campus!
We currently have our Vice President of Finance and Vice President of Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging positions open.
The Vice President of Finance for the Student Senate shall be the organization’s Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer and a member of the Executive Board of the Student Senate. While being the chair of the Finance Committee, this position will be responsible for the accurate keeping of financial records of Student Senate funds review and sign all requests to expenditure funds from the Student Activities Fee according to SUNY Policy or assign a designee to-do so.
The Vice President of Inclusion & Belonging for the Student Senate is responsible for the exchange of information and the initiation of projects and problem-solving pertaining to ever-increasingly culturally diverse campus community. They are responsible for the exchange of information and the initiation of projects and problem-solving pertaining to the Center for Equity, Inclusion & Title IX.
