Muslim Student Association Interest Meeting
The Cultural Life Center is conducting a reach out to students in the Muslim community who would be interested in starting a Muslim student-focused club. The temporary name for the club is The Muslim Student Association or MSA for short. The goal of this club is to provide a space where Muslims can assemble for prayer, community, charity work, and information about Islam. The club would also help inform other students about Islam and Muslims and work towards dispelling all misconceptions about Islam in the community.

College Council’s Leadership Through Civic Engagement Award
- Who: Anyone may nominate a student or faculty/staff member. Faculty/staff service would need to be within the past two years
- Description: College Council recognize members of the Alfred State community annually for leadership in civic engagement. Background, instructions, and application found here (link here).
- How to Nominate: Use the online application
- Recognition: College Council selects up to 2 faculty/staff and unlimited # of deserving student awardees. Student awardees are recognized at Honors Convocation while faculty/staff awardees are recognized at the Reward & Recognition Luncheon.
- Due Date: January 27 for nominations
Residential Change Agent Application
The Office of Residential Services and Center for Cultural Life seek Residential Change Agent (RCA) applicants for the spring semester of 2023. RCAs are responsible for living in and coordinating culturally diverse activities and events inside resident halls for first-year students. This employment is paid with a half-room voucher, with the understanding that the chosen students would be housed in a residence hall for first-year students to offer better service. In addition, roommates will still be matched with the RCAs. Some expectations include the following:
A cumulative and semester GPA of 2.25 or above must be maintained.
Develop Work with the CLC to develop and administer activities and materials about diversity, equality, inclusion, and social justice for first-year residential facilities.
Engage residents in meaningful and timely discussions to help students better comprehend how to engage in a diverse world and workforce.
Support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs and campus-wide efforts by working in the main office of the Cultural Life Center.
Participate in cultural groups, organizations, and activities.
