Emergency Drill September 13th - University Police
ALERT: Emergency Drill
Wednesday, September 13th, 2023, at 10:10 a.m.
Alfred State will be conducting the drill to test its emergency procedures & systems on the Alfred and Wellsville Campuses
During the drill – actively shelter in place at a location where you can:
- Lock or block the door
- Darken the room
- Silence cell phones
- Move to the safest wall (where you are out of sight)
- Strategize and coordinate with persons with you about what to do if your door is entered by a threat. Identify 2-4 “contact” persons who will volunteer to actively assist in getting the threat to the floor where they are unable to continue their actions.
The sirens will be going off on both the Alfred and Wellsville campuses. Hear an audio sample and learn about them at: http://www.alfredstate.edu/university-police/emergency-preparedness-emergency-procedures/outdoor-warning-siren
RAVE Alert! Students upon activating their Alfred State email account are automatically registered. To manage and update notification preferences visit: www.getrave.com/login/alfredstate
Watch the video - RUN.HIDE.FIGHT. Learn what you should do if there is an active shooter in your vicinity at: http://www.alfredstate.edu/university-police/training
Faculty members - it is recommended to share this video with your class and/or talk about your strategy for sheltering and what you will do if your room is entered.
Constitution Day Program – September 18th
The Constitution of the United State is the basic framework of our Democratic Republic. September 17th is designated as Constitution Day and Citizenship Day and each year the federal government encourages us to celebrate the Constitution and its impact on our lives. Given the 17th is a Sunday, we will host our commemorative Constitution Day programming on Monday, September 18th at 5pm in the SLC Small Events Space.
This collaborative event is supported through Social and Behavioral Sciences and The Center for Civic Leadership. Join us for a lively discussion and interactive program centered on Article II of the Constitution as we explore the foundation of the Presidency and what makes a great president.
We will have light refreshments and voter registration resources available.
For any faculty wishing to offer extra credit, please email Cyan Corwine (corwincy@alfredstate.edu) with pertinent course information so that we can capture student engagement for you.
