Student Ambassadors Wanted - Office of Admissions
The Admissions Office is currently looking for students who would like to become part of the Alfred State student ambassador team. Student ambassadors are dynamic leaders in the community and classroom and help provide a lasting impression of the College. The student ambassador position is highly prestigious and allows students to build valuable career skills like problem-solving, public speaking, and communication. As an added bonus you will earn some extra spending money!
Available positions are for Summer 2023 and the 2023-2024 academic year and all applicants must be in good academic standing (GPA of 2.0 or better). Students can apply here by April 14 to be considered for the position!
Graduation packet pick-up
Students can begin picking up their graduation packet starting April 10 at the Alfred Campus Store or Wellsville Campus Store during regular store hours. Students that would like to attend commencement and have not paid the commencement fee, would need to pay $60 at the time of picking up their graduation packet. Bachelor students will need to purchase an academic hood from the Campus Store. If you are an online student or not on campus this semester, please call the Alfred Campus Store, 607-587-4020, to have your graduation package shipped to you (shipping charges will apply).
Register for Classes Using the New Version of BannerWeb
This semester, you can use the new version of BannerWeb or the classic version of BannerWeb to register for classes. The new version includes panels that show your registered classes graphically by day of the week and time.
If you want to use the new version, log into the portal and navigate to the registration page from the menu. Click the register for classes link under the section titled Banner SSB 9 (Beta). If you would like to bookmark the page, the direct link is https://banner.alfredstate.edu/StudentRegistrationSsb/

'How to Overcome a Bad Day' Workshop - SSC
The How to Overcome a Bad Day Workshop will be hosted by the Student Success Center on Wednesday, April 12th at 5pm in the Student Development Center, Room 109. Everyone has had one - a day that just does not go as planned. Sometimes we wake up and just feel off, or sometimes it feels everything we try to do goes wrong. This workshop will discuss options on how to overcome these days. Learn how to control your day, rather than be a victim of a bad day.

Fall Registration Drop-In Hours - Academic Advising Center
The Academic Advising center will be hosting drop-in hours for students to meet about Fall registration this week. Students can stop in to SDC 203 from 8:30 am to 4pm Monday (4/10) through Friday (4/14) to meet with one of our Academic Advisors to discuss their schedule for next semester. Individual Room Selection - 2023 to 2024
The Office of College Housing would like to announce that Individual Room Sign-Ups are now active. The Individual Room Sign-up Process is based on accrued credit hours (including this term) as follows:
- All new incoming and returning students now have access to sign up for 2023 - 2024 housing options
- Individual Room selections end Tuesday, May 30, 2023
To sign up for housing, please follow the instructions below:
- Enter your my.alfredstate.edu
- Select the "Sign up for Housing" icon
- Log into eRezlife using your Alfred State email credentials
- Select "Housing Overview" under Housing
- Select your Admit Term "202401",
- Select your Class (freshman, senior, etc)
- Select your Full/Part time status (should be full time for housing)
- Select your Student Type (new freshman or transfer)
- Select the "Apply Now" button **if you have not completed your housing profile and housing profile questions you will be re-directed to do so**
- Select your Residence building preference(s). Once completed click "Save and Continue"
- Fill out the "Application Form"
- Confirm your application and select "Submit Application"
- Confirmation page will appear if you have successfully completed this process.
- Please note, any applications that are completed between 5:00 pm and 8:00 am may not be granted access to sign up for a room until the following day (ex. If you complete your application at 8:00 pm on Monday, you might not be able to sign up for housing until 8:00 am Tuesday). This is due to the formatting of our housing software and our department reviewing applications before permitting students to sign up for housing.
- Return to "Housing Overview"
- Select the green "Browse Rooms"
- You can search for specific rooms by building/section and/or other residence preferences set up. This may take a couple of attempts pending on your preferences and room availability. "No bed available" will appear if there is not a room available through the preferences you set up.
- Click the "bed" icon to select your room of choice.
- Dialog window will be prompted with details of the selected room.
- Click the "choose this bed" button
- Review the details of your room reservation. Click on "Assign me now" to confirm your assignment. Click the "look at other rooms" link to browse other rooms.

Nursing Students going to Ireland - Chicken Barbeque Fundraiser
Nursing students will study abroad in Ireland this summer and want to help defray the cost. They will be selling Stearn's Chicken complete meals on April 20, 2023, beginning at 1500 (3 pm); the price will be $15 per meal. They must presell tickets, so if you are interested in helping defray costs for these students to benefit from a study abroad program, don't hesitate to contact the following students. On Tuesday, April 11th at 6:30 pm the campus community is invited to attend a public debate event in the SLC Small Events Space. There will be a short, organized debate featuring student debaters to help frame the relevant issues followed by a public caucus-style debate in which YOU, the campus community, will have an opportunity to speak. Coffee and light refreshments will be served. We look forward to hearing your voice as we engage in a spirited but collegial debate on an issue of importance to students, faculty, and members of the campus community!

Our Civic Engagement Advocates (CEAs) are dynamic student leaders that play a key role in our civic leadership team! CEAs work to support a campus culture that promotes care and community involvement by initiating, enhancing, and engaging others in efforts designed to make a positive difference in our community and beyond.
Our team works with individual students, clubs/organizations, community partners, and faculty/staff to identify and address community challenges together- here in Alfred, regionally, and beyond. Some of our areas of oversight and engagement include The PLATE (our campus food pantry), Disaster Relief, Habitat for Humanity Builds, Voter Awareness and registration, and Leadership Suite Civic Initiative Support.

Get Ready for Fall 2023 Registration
Fall 2023 registration begins April 10, 2023 at 9 AM! The first step is printing a copy of the Course Selection Form from BannerWeb. Next, meet with your academic adviser to review your course selections and receive your Alternate Registration PIN and web registration time. Internet students should contact their adviser to discuss course selection. Registration instructions are available at my.AlfredState.edu/registration under “Records Office Resources.”
Graduating and re-admitting into a new major? You will need to re-apply through Admissions and pay your acceptance deposit before you will be assigned a web registration time and Alternate Registration PIN.
Were you expecting to graduate this semester but now will not? In order to be assigned a registration time, your academic department chair must remove you from the graduation list. Follow up to make sure your name has been removed.
Please note that students are not officially registered for classes until their bills are paid/processed with Student Records and Financial Services. The Fall 2023 bill is due by 4:00 PM on August 10, 2023.
Bandwagon is Hiring!
Bandwagon is hiring for the 2023-2024 academic year! We are a student-run content creation organization here at Alfred State. We make videos, produce podcasts, design posters and graphics, cover events, and encourage creativity throughout the student body. Responses are due April 12th and students must have a minimum of a 2.0 cumulative GPA to be eligible for employment in the Bandwagon. New Oasis Hours for the Spring!
Come in and enjoy a peaceful moment at the oasis, pick from several different essential oils, relax in the massage chairs, and grab a cup of tea on your way out. SLC RM 415
The Oasis will be open for the Spring 2023 semester, and will be following the below schedule throughout the semester.
- Monday (2-8pm), Tuesday (2-8pm), Wednesday (4-7pm), Thursday (2-6pm), Friday (2-4pm)
Use of the Oasis space can be booked by appointment (24 hours in advance) for certain days and hours. It will also be open for walk-in’s/first come, first served basis.
