Homecoming Family Weekend Basket Raffle

Homecoming Family Weekend is fast approaching and it is time to start thinking  about our Annual Basket Raffle!  Is your department or organization interested in donating a basket for the raffle?  We encourage you to come up with a unique and fun theme for your basket!  Please reach out to Sandra Burdick at or by calling X4098 to let us know if you are planning on donating a basket.  Baskets will need to be wrapped in cellophane and delivered to the Office of Student Engagement in the Student Leadership Center no later than Wednesday, October 19th.  Baskets will be displayed and tickets can be purchased in the Student Leadership Center in Room 204 on Friday, October 21st from 10am until 4pm and again at Homecoming on Saturday, October 22nd during the tailgate festivities with tickets being drawn at halftime.  Tickets will be sold as a sheet of 25 tickets for $10.  You may purchase multiple sheets if desired.

All student cars will have a chance of winning a CASH prize of $250 (1st place), $150 (2nd place) and $100 (3rd place)

Apply for December 2022 Diploma

All students completing degree requirements this semester need to apply for a diploma (diplomas are not automatically awarded) by visiting and selecting “Apply for Graduation”.  The deadline to apply for a December 2022 diploma is October 10, 2022.  Please DO NOT apply for May 2022 graduation at this time.  Graduating students who plan to return in the fall (in a new program) need to apply for readmission through the Admissions Office and will be unable to register until their readmission application has been approved.  Prospective graduates should contact their advisor or department chair to ensure graduation requirements have been met and view their progress online using the DegreeWorks tool on  If you have any questions, contact the Student Records and Financial Services Office at or call 607-587-4253.

Ergo Cover Contest

Wondering what to submit?  Full wrap cover (front & back) 17.25" wide by 11.25" high or just the front cover 8.75" wide by 11.25" high, 300 dpi, jpeg.  All entries must fit these specifications for consideration.


And better yet, there's a prize!  Winner and a runner-up will both get a $100 gift certificate for the ASC Campus Store, and boasting rights for being featured as the author of the cover on the Fall 2022 ERGO publication!

The Department of Social & Behavioral Sciences is excited to announce the reintroduction of our Criminal Justice Club at Alfred State.  There will be an interest meeting at the Physical Health and Sciences building (PHS) in room 107 at 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 29th.  We will discuss club membership, activities, and nominate individuals for Club President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.  Dr. Dave Ray will be the Club Advisor.  The Department looks forward to seeing you at our initial meeting. 


The Criminal Justice Club is open to anyone who has an interest in criminal justice, law, forensics, cyber security, or any other aspects related to the criminal justice field.  Clubs are a great opportunity to meet, interact, and engage in activities, meetings, and discussions of interest with fellow students who share similar interests.


The Department expects a great turnout for the initial meeting on Thursday, September 29th in PHS Room 107.

Mini-Break Housing Information

The Office of Residential Services would like to remind students that the residence halls will not close for Mini-Break (October 1 to October 4). With that, students are permitted to remain in their housing assignments without applying for break housing. Regardless of if you plan to remain on campus during a portion of mini-break or if you plan to go home, we ask that you take a few minutes to fill out the following survey. This information will be used to get an understanding of how many students will be on campus and to determine how best to serve them.

Student Survival Panel Two

The College Student Survival Guide panel discussion two will be held on Thursday September 29 at 7 p.m. in the Small Events Space of the SLC. The topic will be “Dealing with he roommate from H…, how to communicate effective with other people”.  The speaker will be Mary Chamberlain, Area Coordinator of Residential Services .
