Parking Lot Closures for Open House - University Police
Parking lots 18, 19, 20, 20A, 21 and 22 (ALL the parking lots between the stadium & Orvis) will be CLOSED beginning at 4pm on FRIDAY OCTOBER 25th. The lots will remain closed until Saturday morning at which time they will be re-opened for those attending the Open House. Students that are being required to move may park in any open lot between 4pm on 10/25 and the conclusion of the Open House. All vehicles should be back in the appropriate student parking by 7am Monday morning.
Virtual 'Registration Readiness' Workshops
The Academic Advising Center is hosting one virtual and one hybrid Registration Readiness workshop to help prepare students for Spring registration. Both sessions will be held on Thursday, October 24th. Students who attend a registration workshop will have a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card at each one!

Kitten Yoga Classes
The Vet Tech Club is sponsoring a Kitten Yoga class!
Event date Saturday November 2, 2024 in the Pioneer Studio. Pick a class time – either 11 am or 12 pm.
Registration is $10 and must be paid in advance by Friday November 1 at 4pm to reserve your spot. Space is limited! Walk-ins may be available as space permits. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Hornell Humane Society.
Some yoga mats available or you can bring your own. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. Suggested to bring water and a towel.

Open House Parking Lot Closures-University Police
Parking lots 18, 19, 20, 20a, 21 and 22 will be closed and cleared for Open House parking beginning at 5pm on Friday, October 25th. The lots will reopen Saturday afternoon. Students may park in any other open lots including Faculty Staff after 4pm on Friday.
Ag Science Minor Traffic Disruption
Thursday morning (October 24th) the Ag Science general contractor, Streeter Associates, will be taking delivery of large office trailers. There is a potential for some minor traffic delays along lower loop road from 8 AM-11AM. The contractor will have flag crews directing traffic while they are taking delivery of the trailers. We Thank You in advance for your understanding and patience during this time.

VOTING - Shuttle Bus Route
November 5th, ACES Transportation will be providing shuttle bus rides from 7:50am (beginning) - 5:50pm (last return) to the Alfred Village Fire Hall at 4 South Main Street, for students to be able to vote.

Thanksgiving Break Housing Application
Residence halls will close at 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, for the Thanksgiving Break. The Residence halls will reopen at Noon on Sunday, December 1, 2024. Residential Services is aware that the final bus scheduled to leave Alfred leaves before 10:00 p.m. If you are here for an academic reason and cannot make travel arrangements for the evening of Tuesday, November 26, please contact your Residence Director to remain on campus that night. However, you must plan travel arrangements for the morning of Wednesday, November 27.
Only students who have been approved to stay for the break will be allowed in the residence halls.
All others may be charged with trespassing.
Students will only be approved who:
- Live over 500 miles away (according to your home Banner Address)
- Have a Special Circumstance (ex. You do not have a place to go)
- Working for the college during the break (with Supervisors Approval)
- Athletics commitment during the break (must be on roster submitted from Athletics)
If you wish to apply to stay for the break, please complete the "Break Housing Request" form on eRezLife. To access this form, please sign in to my.alfredstate.edu, select "housing," and then select the "Break Housing Request" form.
Please note, that this form will close on Thursday, November 21.

Requests for Airport Shuttle must be to the Rochester Airport and students will have to fill out the Online travel request form for both their trips to and from the airport.

This semester the Student Senate Executive Board will be raffling off three $250 gift cards at the last General Assembly (GA) on 12/3/2024. To receive a ticket for the raffle you must attend a GA meeting throughout the semester. Each attendance will earn you one ticket.
Attendees must show up on time. Late attendance forfeits your ability to receive your raffle ticket.

Grant Money Available for your Fall Semester Bill
Alfred State College has been awarded funding for the Aid for Part-Time Study (APTS) grant for the 2024-2025 academic year. Students may be eligible to receive up to $1,000 for the Fall semester.
Part-time students may obtain an application by emailing sfs@alfredstate.edu or visiting https://www.alfredstate.edu/financial-aid/forms and click on aid for Part-Time Study (APTS) application.
Some of the eligibility criteria for the APTS grant include:
- Be a matriculated student and consistently enrolled between three (3) and eleven (11) credit hours per semester
- Be a New York State resident
- Completed 2024-2025 FAFSA application
- Meet satisfactory academic progress
- Not receiving TAP or Part-Time TAP this semester
The deadline for the Fall semester is Friday, November 15, 2024.
