Muslim Student Association (MSA) - Kickoff Event

Join MSA on Thursday, April 4th for our very first event! The event will be held in the SLC Small Events Space, room 310 at 7:30pm and will feature guest speaker, Dr. Ismail Mehr. Dr. Mehr will be leading a discussion and answering any questions you may have about Islam and the meaning behind fasting during Ramadan. Following the discussion, we will be gathering for sunset prayer (Maghrib), which anyone is welcome to observe, even if you're not joining us for the event. Last but not least, there will be giveaways, free translated copies of the Quaran, and lots of free food! We will be serving up some delicious traditional eastern dishes, so come hungry and get ready to enjoy a good time while we bond as a community; connecting with Islam and each other!


Special Olympics - Volunteers Needed

The Alfred State Athletic Department is looking for volunteers needed on May 3rd for the annual Special Olympics event, hosted at the Alfred State College stadium. Fall Registration Drop-In Hours - AAC

It’s almost time to register for Fall classes!

The Academic Advising Center will be hosting drop-in hours from 8:30am to 4:30pm the week of April 8th to April 12th in SDC 203. Stop in for help with choosing classes, creating your schedule, navigating Schedule Planner or DegreeWorks, questions about changing your major or any other academic advising questions. Remember – any advising questions can be sent to advising@alfredstate.edu.

 

Don’t forget to make an appointment with your primary Academic Advisor to get class recommendations, your registration PIN, and your day/time for registering!

Amazon Lockers for Students are Here!

Alfred State now has an Amazon Hub to allow more flexible student pick-up. The lockers are located outside of the Print and Mail Services building.

To place an order for delivery to an Amazon Hub:

   1. Place an eligible item in your shopping cart and select Proceed to Checkout.

   2. When choosing a delivery address, select Search for a Pickup Point location near you

   3. Search by zip code (14802), address (10 Upper College Dr. Alfred, NY), or Hub Name: Racing 

   4. Select Ship to this address beside your chosen location. 

   5. Complete your order.

When your package is ready for you to collect, Amazon will email you Directly. This email will contain the information you need to collect your package.

 

***This is a service for student use. Students can still choose to have their orders shipped to our 10 Upper College Drive address using their MC# and pick up their packages at Print and Mail Services, Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

First Year Prom - RSVP!

Celebrate the end of your first year at Alfred State with your peers at our inaugural First-Year Prom on Saturday, April 6! A team of first-year students have been working hard to put this together for their class and are excited to announce that the theme is: Starfall Ball. Enjoy the evening "under the stars" in the MacKenzie Commons from 8:30PM-1AM. There will be a DJ, decor, dancing, hors d'ourves, and more! 

  • This is for first-year students ONLY, & one guest per student is allowed. 
  • Non-ASC students are allowed as a guest, but must fill out the guest form on eRezLife.
  • If you need assistance with finding proper attire, please contact our Director of Student Engagement at duenodm@alfredstate.edu.
  • Ticket cost is $10 for a single guest and $15 for a couple. We accept cash or you can stop by the campus store to use CSA.

Veteran Internship Opportunity

Alfred State College is proud to announce a Veteran Enrollment and Support Internship program through SUNY.   This is a paid internship for student veterans to assist in the enrollment and engagement of veteran and military connected students.

Pool table ready for use in Mackenzie Commons

Did you know there is a pool table in the Mackenzie Commons?  We now have new pool sticks and supplies that you can sign out.  Just check in with the Mackenzie Student Union Staff at the desk daily anytime between 3PM - 11PM to sign out the equipment.

Eclipse Glasses Avaliable at Hinkle Library

Trash to Fashion – Sign up to create a trash-ion look for our Earth Day action and awareness initiative!

Calling all creatives and environmental advocates. The Center for Civic Leadership is preparing for an action-packed Earth Day celebration (April 22nd) and this year’s theme is Planet vs. Plastics. 

In our effort to call awareness to two big Earth Day initiatives, plastic pollution and Fast Fashion we invite our campus community to sign up to create a Trash to Fashion look to showcase as part of our days events. We have a few different categories you can enter under, and we will have prizes awarded for crowd favorite, creativity, and most impactful environmental message.

Prepare for an enchanting evening of theater as the Drama Club proudly presents "Alibis," a spellbinding series of mini-plays that will captivate your imagination.

NYC Bus Trip - April 27th

NYS Bus Trip sponsored by Student Senate. 

Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at the campus store. Seating is limited so pick yours up fast.

The bus will pick students up from the SLC parking lot at 5:00am and arrive at the New York Public Library at approximately 10:45am.

The bus will leave from the New York Public Library at 8:00pm and arrive back to Alfred at approximately 1:45am. 

Students interested in going must purchase their ticket by Wednesday, April 24th. Be aware that all students attending must provide their own funds to purchase food and other desires during their trip.

Get Ready for Fall 2024 Registration

Fall 2024 registration begins April 8, 2024, at 9 AM!  The first step is printing a copy of the Course Selection Form from BannerWeb.  Next, meet with your academic adviser to review your course selections and receive your Alternate Registration PIN and web registration time. Registration instructions are available at my.AlfredState.edu/registration under “Records Office Resources.” 

 

Graduating and returning in a new major?  You will need to re-apply through Admissions and pay your enrollment deposit before you will be assigned a registration time and Alternate Registration PIN.  

 

Were you expecting to graduate this semester but now will not?  In order to be assigned a registration time, your academic department chair must remove you from the graduation list.  Follow up to make sure your name has been removed.

 

Please note that students are not officially registered for classes until their bills are paid/processed with Student Records and Financial Services.  Fall 2024 bills become available online July 1st and are due by 4:00 PM on August 8, 2024.

Run for Student Senate Executive Board

Interested in running for the Student Senate Executive Board?

All positions earn a base pay of $15/hour for a maximum of 8 hours per week.

Elections will take place April 10th - April 12th.

A mandatory interest meeting will be scheduled for all potential candidates between Monday, March 18 – Tuesday, April 9th. Failure to attend will result in removal from the ballot.

Must be available every Tuesday from 5:00p to 8:00p for the academic year 2024-2025.

Selecting your Room! 

Room selection will begin April 1, 2024 for students whose tuition deposit is received by March 26.  

For those who have not paid their tuition deposit by March 26, room selection will begin on April 15, 2024. 

You will need to have your housing application completed in order to select your room! 

Selecting your room instructions:

  1. Log into your my.alfredstate.edu
  2. Select the “Housing” icon
  3. Return to "Housing Overview" 
  4.  Select the green "Browse Rooms"
  5. You can search for specific rooms by building/section and/or other residence preferences set up. This may take a couple of attempts pending on your preferences and room availability. "No bed available" will appear if there is not a room available through the preferences you set up. 
  6. Click the "bed" icon to select your room of choice. 
  7. Dialog window will be prompted with details of the selected room. 
  8. Click the "choose this bed" button
  9. Review the details of your room reservation. Click on "Assign me now" to confirm your assignment.  Click the "look at other rooms" link to browse other rooms. 

Please note individual room selection will close on August 1, 2024

Fall 2024 Housing Application Launches March 1

New, transfer, and returning students can log into Housing to complete your housing application for the fall 2024 semester beginning on March 1! 

Please note the actual room selection will being at a later date. Keep an eye on Student Announce for further details. 

Please follow these instructions: 

  1. Log into your my.alfredstate.edu
  2. Select the “Housing” icon
  3. All housing application forms are available under the Housing Overview tab. You will also have a recommended action to 'Apply for Housing' that will take you to the housing overview.
  4. Click the "Apply Now" button beside the housing you wish to apply.
  5. If you haven't completed your housing profile and profile questions, you may be required to complete both the housing profile and housing profile questions before proceeding to the housing application form.
  6. Once you have completed the housing profile and profile questions, you will be re-directed to your homepage. You can then use the recommended action or the housing overview to reopen the application. Select your Residence building preference by choosing the building that you would most like to live from the list on the left. You can reorder or remove preferences in the box on the left. Click "Save" to save your data, or click "Save and Continue" to proceed.
  7. Complete all questions on the application form. Mandatory questions on the application are marked with a red asterisk mark. After completing your application form, click "Save" to save your data, or click "Save and continue" to continue with your housing application process.
  8. On the Confirm Application page, carefully review your application details and check off the three terms listed indicating that you understand and agree with all statements.

Once your housing application is completed activate your RoomeeZ profile to find potential roommates! Please follow these instructions to activate and create your RoomeeZ profile.

  1. Turn on your profile under “My roommate profile.”
  2. Fill out the required fields on your roommate profile.
  3. Select which information you want shared with other students.
  4. Enter any social media and contact information you want to share.

You are now complete and can search for a potential roommate with other students who have created a RoomeeZ profile.
