Student Announce April 1, 2024

The Alfred State Athletic Department is looking for volunteers needed on May 3rd for the annual Special Olympics event, hosted at the Alfred State College stadium. Please email Taylor Button (buttonta1@alfredstate.edu) or Anne Holmok (holmoka@alfredstate.edu) for more information if you have interest in assisting with this event. 

Herps Alive is a traveling, educational herpetology program. Licensed and insured, they offer hands-on displays, lectures, roving programs and custom-designed residencies. They have appeared on nearly 200 college campuses in 36 states and nearly 300 other venues, preforming thousands of programs for tens of thousands of people since they started as a high school project in 1976. 

Herps Alive will be visiting Alfred State on Thursday, April 11th and will be in the SLC Park Space from 11AM - 1PM.  Stop by to partake in this hands on experience and learn more about reptiles.

Alfred State College is proud to announce a Veteran Enrollment and Support Internship program through SUNY.   This is a paid internship for student veterans to assist in the enrollment and engagement of veteran and military connected students.  

To be considered, students must: 

*served in the United States military, to include members of the Guard and Reserve

*Have at least 30 credit hours, been at the campus for two semesters, and be in good academic standing.

After a national search, Alfred State College (ASC) has named Ryan LaBrozzi the Vice President for Finance and Administration. He begins his new duties on April 8. 

"Ryan will be an integral member of our team as we continue to invest in our infrastructure, people, and programs while still remaining a highly affordable and high-quality choice for students and parents," commented Dr. Steve Mauro. "Ryan’s experience as a meticulous supervisor of people and projects will serve us well as ASC is investing more than $100 million in construction and program development to modernize, beautify, and expand to meet the needs of tomorrow’s students.”

Professor Ross's Nutrition class is selling chicken BBQ tickets for a fundraiser.  Tickets are $10 each and include chicken, two salads and a roll.  Dinners can be picked up Monday, April 15 and Thursday, April 18 from 11am to 1pm in EJ Brown 119.  Tickets can be purchased through Jennifer Ross or from students in her Nutrition class.

Spring hunting permits for small game and turkey will be available at University Police Monday, April 1st beginning at 7:00 A.M.  We have a limited number of 25 to be issued.  

Please stop at UPD’s dispatch located in the Theta Gamma House and bring a driver’s license of other form of ID.  

Hunting at the College Farm property is limited to the farmhouse side of Route 244.

Hillel at Alfred (Alfred University) will be hosting its annual Passover services and dinner on Monday April 22, 2024, starting at 5:30pm in the Knight Club in the Powell Campus Center. Feel free to bring your friends and family, as we create community and retell stories from the Haggadah. The meal will have a suggested donation of $10 per person. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at the campus store. Seating is limited so pick yours up fast.

The bus will pick students up from the SLC parking lot at 5:00am and arrive at the New York Public Library at approximately 10:45am.

The bus will leave from the New York Public Library at 8:00pm and arrive back to Alfred at approximately 1:45am. 

Students interested in going must purchase their ticket by Wednesday, April 24th. Be aware that all students attending must provide their own funds to purchase food and other desires during their trip.

Come join us Thursday, April 4th in the Allegany Room (CDH), for a dinner where students and staff members will be able to interact in a great setting. We will be having a social happy hour with mocktails from 5-6pm, after a presentation on dinner etiquette will start promptly at 6pm followed by the dinner. Interested in running for the Student Senate Executive Board?

All positions earn a base pay of $15/hour for a maximum of 8 hours per week.

Elections will take place April 10th - April 12th.

A mandatory interest meeting will be scheduled for all potential candidates between Monday, March 18 – Tuesday, April 9th. Failure to attend will result in removal from the ballot.

Must be available every Tuesday from 5:00p to 8:00p for the academic year 2024-2025.

Fall 2024 Room Selection for New Students          

Selecting your Room! 

Room selection will begin April 1, 2024 for students whose tuition deposit is received by March 26.  

For those who have not paid their tuition deposit by March 26, room selection will begin on April 15, 2024. 

You will need to have your housing application completed in order to select your room! 

Selecting your room instructions:

1. Log into your my.alfredstate.edu
2. Select the “Housing” icon
3. Return to "Housing Overview" 
4.  Select the green "Browse Rooms"
5. You can search for specific rooms by building/section and/or other residence preferences set up. This may take a couple of attempts pending on your preferences and room availability. "No bed available" will appear if there is not a room available through the preferences you set up. 
6. Click the "bed" icon to select your room of choice. 
7. Dialog window will be prompted with details of the selected room. 
8. Click the "choose this bed" button
9. Review the details of your room reservation. Click on "Assign me now" to confirm your assignment.  Click the "look at other rooms" link to browse other rooms. 

Please note individual room selection will close on August 1, 2024

Fall 2024 Room Selection for Returning and Transfer Students

Monday, March 25 – 90+ Credit Hours Completed

Tuesday, March 26, 60+ credit hours completed

Wednesday, March 27, 30+ credit hours completed

Thursday, March 28 , 29 or less credit hours completed

Fall 2024 Housing Application Launches March 1

New, transfer, and returning students can log into Housing to complete your housing application for the fall 2024 semester beginning on March 1! 

Please note the actual room selection will being at a later date. Keep an eye on Student Announce for further details. 

Please follow these instructions: 

1. Log into your my.alfredstate.edu
2. Select the “Housing” icon
3. All housing application forms are available under the Housing Overview tab. You will also have a recommended action to 'Apply for Housing' that will take you to the housing overview.
4. Click the "Apply Now" button beside the housing you wish to apply.
5. If you haven't completed your housing profile and profile questions, you may be required to complete both the housing profile and housing profile questions before proceeding to the housing application form.
6. Once you have completed the housing profile and profile questions, you will be re-directed to your homepage. You can then use the recommended action or the housing overview to reopen the application. Select your Residence building preference by choosing the building that you would most like to live from the list on the left. You can reorder or remove preferences in the box on the left. Click "Save" to save your data, or click "Save and Continue" to proceed.
7. Complete all questions on the application form. Mandatory questions on the application are marked with a red asterisk mark. After completing your application form, click "Save" to save your data, or click "Save and continue" to continue with your housing application process.
8. On the Confirm Application page, carefully review your application details and check off the three terms listed indicating that you understand and agree with all statements.

Once your housing application is completed activate your RoomeeZ profile to find potential roommates! Please follow these instructions to activate and create your RoomeeZ profile.

1. Turn on your profile under “My roommate profile.”
2. Fill out the required fields on your roommate profile.
3. Select which information you want shared with other students.
4. Enter any social media and contact information you want to share.

You are now complete and can search for a potential roommate with other students who have created a RoomeeZ profile.
