Student Announce October 7, 2025

Tuesday October 7th Alfred State College will be hosting the 39th Annual Sophomore Career Day in partnership with Steuben County's Career Development Council. While I hope that everyone is enjoying their time off campus during mini-break, please take note that this event is taking place in Orvis and SET if you are here this day. Sophomore Career Day will bring over 500 guests to campus from 9 different school districts across Steuben County.

Vaziri Law Group, APC is excited to announce its 2025 Academic Scholarship, which awards $2,500 to one deserving student who demonstrates commitment to both academics and community impact.

Scholarship Details:

• Award: $2,500 (one winner)
• Format: Essay (1,000 words or less)
• Essay Prompt: If you could change one law to help those in need, what would it be? How would your solution improve on the status quo?
• Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students accepted or enrolled in an accredited U.S. university
• Deadline: December 31, 2025

The Office of Residential Services is now taking applications for the Resident Assistant position for Spring 2026 and Fall 2026. If you are interested in being an RA starting in either of these semesters, please apply now!

RA's get leadership development, mentorship with professionals, soft skill development and a resume builder, opportunities to advance into paid positions, and get a single room paid for! That means no housing bill!

To qualify for the RA position, candidates must have a minimum 2.25 GPA (Semester & Cumulative) and no current student conduct status.

Fall into Fitness in October! FREE for students, faculty, staff, and community members! Join the REFIT or REV+FLOW fitness classes this month on Wednesday evenings for a fun workout to strengthen your body and your mind! I added a few themed Halloween songs in the REFIT class at 5 pm, including THRILLER (video attached), CHAINSAW, and BONES! With a long reputation of being one of the premier autumn trail races in New York’s Southern Tier, RidgeWalk & Run is one of a kind. Appealing to all levels of runners & walkers, participants can select from five incredible courses, the 2 mile trail, 2 mile road walk, the 6 mile, 9 mile or the event’s gem, the gorgeous but grueling 25K - “The Ridge!”

The Wellsville Campus Flu Clinic will be held in the Pioneer Student Union on Monday, October 13th, from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
