The last day to add a full-term course is 4:00 pm on Monday, Sept. 8th.  Please see Academic Regulations 502.10A and 502.10B for more information.

Open Room Changes

Open Room Changes, Room Buyouts, and Consolidations- September 1st- September 4th

This provides students the option to move to any open bed on campus, or buy out their room. Please follow the steps below if you are interested in changing your room.  Please note that there limited single spaces on campus, and moves are based off first come, first served basis. 

Internal Building Move Requests (I want to move some where else in my building)- Monday, September 1st- Tuesday September 2nd

  • See your Residence Director during their office hours

External Building Move Requests (I want to move to a different building) - Wednesday, September 3rd-Thursday September 4th

  • See Residential Services in the Townhouse Commons between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. with Erika Winans or Mary Chamberlain
  • See Residential Services in the Townhouse Commons between 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. for after hours assistance. 

Pending on the move, there may be an increase or decrease in the cost of housing. Students are encouraged to review the Room Rates prior to completing any move. Information on room rates can be found on our Housing Costs page.

This process must be completed within 24 hours of starting the room change. 

During Open Room Changes, RDs will also be consolidating rooms and/or suites depending on the vacancies that are present. Students may be required to move from their room or accept a new roommate depending on the RDs plan for the building. More information on room consolidations can be found on our Room Selection page.

All moves must be completed by Close of Business on Wednesday, September 10th

Alfred's Got Talent Auditions!

Auditions for Alfred's Got Talent 2025 are happening soon! Whether you sing, dance, perform stand-up comedy, play a musical instrument, or have another amazing talent, we want to see what you've got!

Audition Dates: Wednesday, September 3rd & Thursday, September 4th
Audition Time: 2:00pm - 6:00pm
Location: SLC Small Event Space

Talent Show Date: Friday, September 19th
Talent Show Time: 9:00pm - 11:00pm

Get ready for success: myLearning Readiness Course

All Alfred State College students have been automatically enrolled in the 2025-26 myLearning Readiness Course. This non-credit, non-graded course is designed to help you become familiar with the myLearning Learning Management System (LMS).

The course provides information, skills, and strategies to support your success in the online learning environment. You will have the opportunity to practice submitting assignments and posting to discussion boards in a no-pressure, non-graded setting. Open the course and look around. The main goal is to build your confidence and increase your likelihood of academic success. The course is available as a resource for the entire 2025-26 academic year.

This course is not just for online students. Many face-to-face instructors use myLearning for testing, homework, and other assignments. We believe completing the readiness course will benefit all students.

Take advantage of this valuable resource to set yourself up for success.

Fall Hunting Permits

Alfred State Farm hunting permits will be available beginning Tuesday, September 2nd at 6:00 a.m. at Dispatch in the University Police Department. We have a limited number of deer archery & muzzleloader, turkey and small game permits.  You will need to provide a valid ID to obtain a permit.

33rd Annual RidgeWalk & Run

UR/Jones Memorial Hospital is excited to host the 33rd Annual RidgeWalk & Run - Sunday, October 19th. 

With a long reputation of being one of the premier autumn trail races in New York’s Southern Tier, RidgeWalk & Run is one of a kind. New- Professional Marketing Organization Collegiate Chapter starting Fall 2025

Alfred State has been approved at both the national and regional level for a collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association on campus starting this fall! This professional organization will engage students in collaborations with other collegiate campuses nationally and internationally at conferences, provide opportunities to compete at academic competitions against top schools in the country, attend regional and national industry events, hold seminars/guest speakers, and apply for industry certifications. All students are welcome to join!
