Open House Parking Lot Closures-University Police
Parking lots 19, 20, 20a, 21, 22 and 3 will be closing at 4pm on Friday April 11th to accommodate parking for the Open House event on April 12th. Please have your vehicle moved out of the lot prior to 4pm Friday. You may move your vehicle back at the conclusion of the event on Saturday April 12th at approximately 4pm.

The Association for Council Members and College Trustees (ACT) offers an opportunity to apply for a competitive $1000 scholarship with an additional $250 given to the charity of your choice. Traffic Delays Near Agriculture Science Construction
There will be temporary traffic disruptions on Monday, 4/14, and Tuesday, 4/15, on Lower College Drive near AgSci to allow for a crane to be mobilized to the site. A flagger will be present these two days to route traffic through one open lane. Drivers on this section of the loop road may encounter short delays. Thank you for your understanding.
Showmanship Day
Showmanship Day 2025 is here! Starting at 9 am on Saturday, students will be showing off their hard work with their animals! Dairy, beef, goats, and sheep have been clipped, washed, groomed, primped and pampered overall as they prepare to be shown. Students have been working at all hours and in all weather to be ready to show. The Vet Tech club will be there with a concession stand as well. Come cheer on your favorite animal and enjoy the day!
Lot 13 Temporary Faculty/Staff Parking -University Police
Starting next week, April 14th, the commencement of a construction project at TA Parish Hall (Health and Wellness) will necessitate the closure of Parking Lot 15.
Throughout the remainder of the semester, temporary Faculty/Staff signs will be placed in Lot 13 (Commuter Lot), adjacent to TA Parish Hall, to accommodate a limited number of 10 spaces.
It is imperative to remind everyone that the parking regulations stipulate that individuals possessing a Commuter hangtag are authorized to park in any lot designated as either Student or Commuter.

Mother Nature had other plans on Tuesday, but we’re back and ready for Thursday, April 10 at 6pm at the stadium! Come cheer on our new women's lacrosse team as we celebrate Division III Week! Whether you're a lacrosse enthusiast or still figuring out what a "crease" is, this is the perfect chance to learn the rules, enjoy snacks and soak up some D3 spirit. Public debate on athletic/extracurricular requirement
Please join the English & Humanities department and the Debate Club for a brief student debate followed by an open public forum at 2-3:30 pm Thurs, May 1 in the SLC small events space.
Resolved: ASC should require all full-time students to participate in a varsity sport or other extracurricular activity of equivalent rigor.

Showcase your organization in the Hot Dog Day parade on Saturday, April 26, 2025. The line-up will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Park Street (by the Saxon Inn). The parade will begin promptly at 12:00 p.m. and proceed down Main St. to Church Street. We request an outline of what you would like to do during the parade. Please understand that the Hot Dog Day committee has the right to deny any request for participation in the parade. All approvals/denials will be done in writing by April 11th.

Summer Closing and Travel Information
The residence halls close Saturday, May 10th at 7:30 pm, so all students will need to be out of the residence halls at that time. If you need to stay past the closing time, please email your Resident Director or Area Coordinator with the reason you need to stay to request approval to stay late.
Need to stay for Summer?
Only students who have been approved to stay for the break will be allowed in the residence halls after that time. All others may be charged with trespassing.
There is a $50 charge per week for summer housing. Payments must be paid within 30 days of your bill, any remaining amount at the end of the summer will be placed onto your student account in the form of a hold. Additional information on acceptable payment methods and payment locations will be provided to those approved for summer break housing.
Students will only be approved who:
- Live over 500 miles away (according to your home Banner Address)
- Have a Special Circumstance (ex. You do not have a place to go, homeless, etc.)
- Working for the college during the break (with Supervisors Approval)
- Have an athletic commitment (with Athletics approval)
- International Student
- Taking summer classes (will be confirmed with your academic advisor and/or class professor)
If you wish to apply for break housing, please complete the "Summer Break Housing Request" form on eRezLife. To access eRezLife, log into your my.alfredstatet.edu and select the "Choose Housing and Meal Plan" option.
Please note that the application closes at 3:00 pm on Monday, May 5th.

Requests for Airport Shuttle to the Rochester Airport must be submitted via the Online travel request form for rides up to the Rochester Airport.

Summer Aid Application Now Available!
Planning to take summer courses? If you’re interested in using financial aid to pay for summer classes, complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA and the Summer Aid Application. Once your application is reviewed, your eligibility details will be sent to your ASC email.
How to Apply for Summer Aid:
Step 1: Complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA at StudentAid.gov.
Step 2: Go to my.AlfredState.edu/finances and select “Submit Financial Aid Forms (Verification)” to access Alfred State Student Forms.
- First-time user? You may need to set up your account before proceeding.
- Once your account is set up, click “Manage Request” at the top of the page and select “Summer Aid Application.”
- Important: The Summer Aid Application will not be an available option unless you have completed the 2025-2026 FAFSA.

Dirty Dog? Get it Washed!
The Vet Tech Club is hosting their spring dog wash on Sunday April 13 from 10 am to 2 pm. It will be held in the HOPR of the SLC. This is a basic wash, NO grooming (dematting, detangling, clipping, etc) is available. Open to students and faculty of Alfred State as well as members of the community. Well behaved dogs only! All dogs must be leashed and up to date on vaccinations.

Make a dish to share a taste of “home” and help enhance our culture of care in Alfred. The Center for Civic Leadership is partnering with Union University to revive a commUNITY potluck initiative. This secular event welcomes all as we build commUNITY by engaging in conversation and sharing foods that evoke a feeling of home. Come help us celebrate our final potluck for the semester!

2025 Hot Dog Day Guest Pre-Registration
The Office of Residential Services has opened guest pre-registration for those Alfred State students who live on campus that would like to have off-campus guests during Hot Dog Day Weekend. Although pre-registration is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged so you can skip the long wait of registering your guest with a staff member.
Students may only have one on-campus or off-campus at a time during Hot Dog weekend. Your guest should also be over the age of 17, otherwise they will not be permitted to stay in the residence hall.
Pre-registration will run until Friday, April 18th. Final approvals will be made on Tuesday, April 22nd.

Grant Money Available for your Spring Bill
Alfred State College has been awarded funding through NYS for the Aid for Part-Time Study (APTS) grant for the 2024-2025 academic year. Students may be eligible to receive up to $1,000 for the Spring semester.
Part-time students may obtain an application online at https://www.alfredstate.edu/financial-aid/forms or by emailing sfs@alfredstate.edu.
Students who received APTS funding for the Fall 2024 semester DO NOT need to submit another application for spring 2025.
Eligibility criteria include:
Matriculated student consistently enrolled between three (3) and eleven (11) credit hours per semester.
Enrolled in at least one full term course this semester.
New York State resident
Completed 2024-2025 FAFSA application
Meet satisfactory academic progress
Not receiving TAP or Part-Time TAP this semester
Applicants are required to submit a signed 2022 New York State Income Tax return for student (or parent if applicable) along with the signed APTS application. Applications will not be reviewed until all documentation has been submitted and signed.
Forward the completed application and required tax forms to sfs@alfredstate.edu. The deadline for the Spring 2025 semester is Friday, April 11, 2025.
Submission of an APTS application does not guarantee receipt of an award. Students who are not eligible will receive an email through their Alfred State email account indicating the reason for ineligibility.

For those who have not paid their tuition deposit by March 26, room selection will begin on April 14, 2025.

- Select the green "Browse Rooms"
- You can search for specific rooms by building/section and/or other residence preferences set up. This may take a couple of attempts pending on your preferences and room availability. "No bed available" will appear if there is not a room available through the preferences you set up.
- Click the "bed" icon to select your room of choice.
- Dialog window will be prompted with details of the selected room.
- Click the "choose this bed" button
- Review the details of your room reservation. Click on "Assign me now" to confirm your assignment. Click the "look at other rooms" link to browse other rooms.
