MEET Dept.- Senior Engineering Project Showcase - Friday, Dec. 6th

On Friday, Dec. 6th, from 1-2:30 PM in the SLC Park Space, the Mechanical & Electrical Engineering senior project groups will display posters detailing their work on specific industry projects. Most industry representatives and MEET Dept faculty will be present. Show your support for your fellow Pioneers and come take a look!

Alfred State Dance Team WINTER SHOWCASE is December 7th!

Alfred State Dance Team presents our WINTER SHOWCASE on Saturday, December 7th in Orvis Auditorium! Hot Chocolate Bar starts at 6:30 pm and the Performance starts at 7 pm. With a special performance from THE ROCK BAND at our Intermission. Purchase tickets in advance at the Campus Store with cash, CSA, or credit/debit card. Tickets at the door are Cash Only. Ticket prices are $3 for students and $5 general admission. Welcome the Holiday season with us! See you there!

Performing Arts Winter Concert

This Friday, December 6th at 7:00pm in the Cappadonia Auditorium, come ring in the holiday season and support the Performing Arts at Alfred State in our annual Winter Concert. Come carol your way through some of Broadway’s best tunes and seasonal favorites with Voices and Instrumental Music. A dessert reception will follow.  We hope to see you there!

Relay For Life hosted by Live to Fight.

Join us as we bring back Relay for Life in partnership with the American Cancer Society, an organization dedicated to funding life-saving cancer research, supporting patients and caregivers, and promoting prevention and awareness initiatives.

This lock-in event is open to the entire Alfred community, surrounding communities, and Alfred State faculty, staff, and students. No entry or re-entry after 11:00 PM.

Our Goal: Raise $25,000!

🎭 Live performances
🌟 Memorial ceremony honoring those we’ve lost to cancer
🎵 Music throughout the event

Teams are encouraged to plan activities at their campsites.

🍴 Food: Provided at intervals throughout the night. Attendees are welcome to bring their own snacks.

Other Items You Can Bring:

  • Blankets, pillows, air mattresses
  • Comfortable chairs (standard chairs will be provided).

Items Not Allowed:

  • Weapons of any kind
  • Alcohol or drugs

Winter Break Transportation: 

Students going home for Winter Break? 

Megabus is offering non-stop bus services to New York City and Alfred for Winter break. Dates and times of bus travel are listed below! 

To New York City: 

Thursday, December 12 departing from Orvis Activities Center or West University St at 2:45 pm and 3 pm

Friday, December 13 departing from Orvis Activities Center or West University St at 7:45 am, 2:45 pm, and 3 pm

Rochester Airport Shuttle 

Depart Alfred Saturday, December 15 at 6 am

Requests for Airport Shuttle must be to the Rochester Airport and students will have to fill out the Online travel request form for both their trips to and from the airport.

Apply for Winter Break Housing!

Residence halls will close at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024, for the Winter Break. The Residence halls will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025. If you are here for an academic reason and cannot make travel arrangements for the evening of Friday, December 13, please contact your Residence Director to remain on campus that night. However, you must plan travel arrangements for the morning of Saturday, December 14.  If you are requesting to stay due to your bus being Sunday, December 15th, please be aware that you may have to relocate to break housing for the night. 

Only students who have been approved to stay for the break will be allowed in the residence halls.

All others may be charged with trespassing.

Students will only be approved who:

  • Live over 500 miles away (according to your home Banner Address)
  • Have a Special Circumstance (ex. You do not have a place to go)
  • Working for the college during the break (with Supervisors Approval)
  • Athletics commitment during the break (must be on roster submitted from Athletics)

If you wish to apply to stay for the break, please complete the " Winter Break Housing Request" form on eRezLife. To access this form, please sign in to my.alfredstate.edu, select "housing," and then select the "Winter Break Housing Request" form. 

Please notethat this form will close on Tuesday, December 10th.

Midnight Breakfast - 12/8

Kick off finals week with a PJ themed Midnight Breakfast served by your faculty & staff on Sunday, December 8 from 10PM-12AM in the Terrace, CDH. This is the time to wear your cozy PJ's to the Terrace and take a quick break from studying and enjoy a meal & conversations with friends and professionals. This breakfast is meant to help you relax and destress from finals. If you have a meal plan it will be one meal swipe; however, if you do not, you are still welcome as you will get a meal voucher!

Nominate for a Civic Engagement Award

College Council’s Leadership Through Civic Engagement Award

Please consider nominating a student, faculty, or staff member that has been a civic engagement leader in some capacity over the past two years before the January 30th deadline! This is a great way to celebrate our faculty, staff, and students for being civic champions. 

  • Who:  Anyone may nominate a student or faculty/staff member.  Faculty/staff service would need to be within the past two years 
  • Description:  College Council recognize members of the Alfred State community annually for leadership in civic engagement.  Background, instructions, and application found here (link here)
  • How to Nominate:  Use the online application
  • Recognition:  College Council selects up to 2 faculty/staff and unlimited # of deserving student awardees. Student awardees are recognized at Honors Convocation while faculty/staff awardees are recognized at the Reward & Recognition Luncheon.
