We will be giving our shuttle buses and our driving staff some much needed rest during Mini-Break.

We will resume the regular shuttle schedule when classes are back in session.

Religious Freedom Panel (faith and civic life)

What is the First Amendment and how does it impact public life? Join us during Voter Education week as we explore religious freedom through the lens of different faith identities. Our panel will be comprised of professionals from the wider community, supporting our efforts to engage in meaningful dialogue across difference, while exploring faith, politics, discourse, and civic life. Voter resources and refreshments will be on offer.

  • Time: 5-6:30PM
  • Location: SLC Small Events Space

There are new hours for both the Student Leadership Center & Pioneer Center.

Student Leadership Center:

  • Monday-Thursday: 6:30am-11pm
  • Friday-Sunday: 6:30am-12am

October 8, 2024 – from New York City to Alfred departing New York City at 9 a.m.  

We will not be offering shuttle services to or from Rochester for mini-break.

SPCA Theme Basket Auction

The SPCA Serving Allegany County Theme Basked Auction will be hosted on the Wellsville Campus/School of Applied Technology of Alfred State during the following times:

  • Friday, October 18th from 5PM to 9PM
  • Saturday, October 19th from 9AM to 4PM

The Theme Basket Auction is a penny social-style auction with different sections such as a kid’s corner and man cave. There are also special tickets and a separate section for more valuable prizes. The proceeds go to the SPCA Serving Allegany County which is a local animal shelter.

There are also several volunteer opportunities for students as well as Faculty and Staff looking to be involved in some civic engagement.

Juma'a Prayer (Friday Islamic Prayer) – Open Invitation

The Muslim Student Association (MSA) invites you to join our weekly Juma'a prayer, held every Friday at 2:15 PM in the prayer space at Braddon Hall. The prayer and sermon will be completed in 30 minutes.

All Muslims and non-Muslims are welcome to attend. We begin with a Jama' speech (Islamic sermon), and non-Muslims are welcome to observe or participate.

Religious Freedom Panel: Constitutional framing and the intersectionality of faith and civic life

Join the Cultural Life Center, Center for Civic Leadership, and Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences on Wednesday, October 9th at 5 pm in the Small Events Space (SLC 310) for a panel discussion where we will review how freedom of religion and separation of church and state are framed within the context of our constitution. We will then hear from practitioner's representative of different faith identities as we explore the intersectionality between those identities and civic life. Together we will dialogue about our current political climate as we explore personhood, privilege, persecution and our collective roles in building community.  Snacks and voter registration information will be available!

All members of the Alfred State community are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

Do you love parades? On Friday October 18th at 6pm, HC/FW is featuring a parade that encourages floats, trailers or walking groups to celebrate their ALFRED STATE SPIRIT!! If you are a student group/club/organization/etc, faculty/staff department or alumni ALL are welcome to join! Following the parade there will be multiple food options (dining dollars and meal swipes CAN be used!), a pep rally and live music from the Sweet Degenerates with FIREWORKS!

Collegiate Agriculture Leaders Club- CAL Club

Alfred State CAL Club is reaching out to any and all students with any interest in agriculture! Whether is be dairy cows, beef cows, sheep, goats, crops or any other area of agriculture, we have a place for you. Our goals as a club is to help advocate all areas of agriculture and help educate the public about all the great things farmers do. We host guest speakers to talk about career opportunities in the ag industry, we go on field trips, have club bonding events(ag related and non ag related) and our big event this fall will be organizing a haunted trail held at the college farm. 

When and where can you find us? We meet every Wednesday at the college farm(location to be discussed if there is enough interest to move it to campus) in the classrooms at 6:30 p.m.

The Fall Schedule for the Student Senate General Assembly Meeting is as follows:

  • Tuesday, October 15th: Class B Incentive Event - 1 Point
  • Tuesday, October 29th: Class B Incentive Event - 1 Point
  • Tuesday, November 12th: Class B Incentive Event - 1 Point
  • Tuesday, December 3rd: Class A Incentive Event - 3 Points

Meetings will take place in a new location - Physical Health & Science Building (PHS) 107
Meetings will begin promptly at 7:00pm.

The Student Senate General Assembly (GA) provides the opportunity for all Students of Alfred State to discuss issues/concerns and hear updates in regard to all matters that affect campus life. These topics include, but are not limited to:

This semester the Student Senate Executive Board will be raffling off three $250 gift cards at the last General Assembly (GA) on 12/3/2024. To receive a ticket for the raffle you must attend a GA meeting throughout the semester. Each attendance will earn you one ticket.

Attendees must show up on time. Late attendance forfeits your ability to receive your raffle ticket.
