Pioneer Wellness Workshops
Counseling services will be continuing to facilitate wellness workshops over the next several weeks that are open to all students. The workshops are based on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy curriculum and will cover the following topics on these upcoming dates:
Mindfulness/Distress Tolerance 4/13 @5PM
Relationships with Others/ Boundaries 4/20 @5PM
Communication 4/27 @5PM
Students will have the option to attend one workshop or the entire series, though it is encouraged to attend all. The next workshop on mindfulness and distress tolerance will take place at the Oasis in the SLC Thursday April 13th at 5PM.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Fundraiser - Cheerleading Team
The Alfred State Cheerleading Team is selling Krispy Kreme Doughnuts through this Thursday, April 13 in the Student Leadership Center park space from 2-4PM. A half dozen is $7, glazed dozen is $12, and an assorted dozen is $14 (cash only)! Open House - Saturday, April 15, 2023
Admissions is excited to host our final spring 2023 Open House program, this Saturday, April 15. The program will start at 9:30 a.m. with presentations on both the Alfred campus and Wellsville campus. Once students have completed their academic tours on the Wellsville campus, they will be directed to the Alfred campus to go on a residence hall tour, and participate in financial aid and campus life presentations. Both campuses will be offering academic tours at 10 am, 11 am, 12 pm, 1 pm, and 2 pm. Open House is a great opportunity to show potential students and their families all that Alfred State has to offer.

Fall Registration Drop-In Hours - Academic Advising Center
The Academic Advising center will be hosting drop-in hours for students to meet about Fall registration this week. Students can stop in to SDC 203 from 8:30 am to 4pm Monday (4/10) through Friday (4/14) to meet with one of our Academic Advisors to discuss their schedule for next semester. 'How to Overcome a Bad Day' Workshop - SSC
The How to Overcome a Bad Day Workshop will be hosted by the Student Success Center on Wednesday, April 12th at 5pm in the Student Development Center, Room 109. Everyone has had one - a day that just does not go as planned. Sometimes we wake up and just feel off, or sometimes it feels everything we try to do goes wrong. This workshop will discuss options on how to overcome these days. Learn how to control your day, rather than be a victim of a bad day.

Bandwagon is Hiring!
Bandwagon is hiring for the 2023-2024 academic year! We are a student-run content creation organization here at Alfred State. We make videos, produce podcasts, design posters and graphics, cover events, and encourage creativity throughout the student body. Responses are due April 12th and students must have a minimum of a 2.0 cumulative GPA to be eligible for employment in the Bandwagon. Student Ambassadors Wanted - Office of Admissions
The Admissions Office is currently looking for students who would like to become part of the Alfred State student ambassador team. Student ambassadors are dynamic leaders in the community and classroom and help provide a lasting impression of the College. The student ambassador position is highly prestigious and allows students to build valuable career skills like problem-solving, public speaking, and communication. As an added bonus you will earn some extra spending money!
Available positions are for Summer 2023 and the 2023-2024 academic year and all applicants must be in good academic standing (GPA of 2.0 or better). Students can apply here by April 14 to be considered for the position!
Hot Dog Day Guest Pre-Registration
Hello,
The Office of Residential Services will be opening pre-registration for those Alfred State students who live on campus that would like to have off-campus guests during Hot Dog Day Weekend. Although pre-registration is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged so you can skip the long wait of registering your guest with a staff member.
Students may only have one on-campus or off-campus at a time during Hot Dog weekend.
Pre-registration will run until Tuesday, April 18th. Final approvals will be made on Wednesday, April 19th.

Individual Room Selection - 2023 to 2024
The Office of College Housing would like to announce that Individual Room Sign-Ups are now active. The Individual Room Sign-up Process is based on accrued credit hours (including this term) as follows:
- All new incoming and returning students now have access to sign up for 2023 - 2024 housing options
- Individual Room selections end Tuesday, May 30, 2023
To sign up for housing, please follow the instructions below:
- Enter your my.alfredstate.edu
- Select the "Sign up for Housing" icon
- Log into eRezlife using your Alfred State email credentials
- Select "Housing Overview" under Housing
- Select your Admit Term "202401",
- Select your Class (freshman, senior, etc)
- Select your Full/Part time status (should be full time for housing)
- Select your Student Type (new freshman or transfer)
- Select the "Apply Now" button **if you have not completed your housing profile and housing profile questions you will be re-directed to do so**
- Select your Residence building preference(s). Once completed click "Save and Continue"
- Fill out the "Application Form"
- Confirm your application and select "Submit Application"
- Confirmation page will appear if you have successfully completed this process.
- Please note, any applications that are completed between 5:00 pm and 8:00 am may not be granted access to sign up for a room until the following day (ex. If you complete your application at 8:00 pm on Monday, you might not be able to sign up for housing until 8:00 am Tuesday). This is due to the formatting of our housing software and our department reviewing applications before permitting students to sign up for housing.
- Return to "Housing Overview"
- Select the green "Browse Rooms"
- You can search for specific rooms by building/section and/or other residence preferences set up. This may take a couple of attempts pending on your preferences and room availability. "No bed available" will appear if there is not a room available through the preferences you set up.
- Click the "bed" icon to select your room of choice.
- Dialog window will be prompted with details of the selected room.
- Click the "choose this bed" button
- Review the details of your room reservation. Click on "Assign me now" to confirm your assignment. Click the "look at other rooms" link to browse other rooms.

The Center for Civic Leadership is Hiring Civic Engagement Advocates for Fall!
Our Civic Engagement Advocates (CEAs) are dynamic student leaders that play a key role in our civic leadership team! CEAs work to support a campus culture that promotes care and community involvement by initiating, enhancing, and engaging others in efforts designed to make a positive difference in our community and beyond.
Our team works with individual students, clubs/organizations, community partners, and faculty/staff to identify and address community challenges together- here in Alfred, regionally, and beyond. Some of our areas of oversight and engagement include The PLATE (our campus food pantry), Disaster Relief, Habitat for Humanity Builds, Voter Awareness and registration, and Leadership Suite Civic Initiative Support.

Earth Week Live Stream Event – Global Climate Stories
In celebration of Earth Day, we will be live streaming a webinar with the Cornell Humphrey Fellows (Global Scholars invested in sustainable solutions to our world’s biggest challenges).
Our changing climate poses great challenges for humanity around the world: extreme weather events, sea level rise, flooding, drought, wildfires and more. How are countries in areas most affected by climate change responding to these and other challenges? In honor of Earth Day 2023, this special edition of Verdant Views will feature current Fellows in Cornell’s Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program, sharing stories of the challenges and choices they face in their home countries, and actions being taken in response to this global crisis. Presented in partnership with the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program and the CALS Department of Global Development.

Seeking Donations – gently used lab coats and goggles
Do you have a lab coat or goggles no longer needed or spare that you are willing to part with? If so, please donate to our student initiative to provide support to current and future students!
Donation bins can be found in the Cultural Life Center (CLC), SLC 401, and in the main entrance of the Physical and Health Sciences Building. The students leading this initiative would like for any students in need to feel free to pull directly from donations that have been received in bins.
At the end of the semester, remaining donations will be inventoried and made available through the Exchange (campus thrift). New Oasis Hours for the Spring!
Come in and enjoy a peaceful moment at the oasis, pick from several different essential oils, relax in the massage chairs, and grab a cup of tea on your way out. SLC RM 415
The Oasis will be open for the Spring 2023 semester, and will be following the below schedule throughout the semester.
- Monday (2-8pm), Tuesday (2-8pm), Wednesday (4-7pm), Thursday (2-6pm), Friday (2-4pm)
Use of the Oasis space can be booked by appointment (24 hours in advance) for certain days and hours. It will also be open for walk-in’s/first come, first served basis.

- Oasis slots are 20 minutes long.
- No food, drinks, or vaping allowed.

It is that time of year again, leadership suite applications for both new applicants and renewals are due by April 14th.
What are Leadership Suites? Leadership Suites highlight student organizations actively involved in identifying community challenges- and creating solutions. The primary purposes for Leadership Suites- and the Student Leadership Center- is to inspire uninvolved students to become civically engaged, generate positive community impact, and build leaders for the future.
