Spring 2024 Dinner Theater

Prepare for an enchanting evening of theater as the Drama Club proudly presents "Alibis," a spellbinding series of mini-plays that will captivate your imagination.

Dates and Times:

  • Thursday, April 11: General Admission Show
    • Show starts at 7:00 PM
    • Doors open at 6:30 PM
  • Friday, April 12 & Saturday, April 13: Dinner Theater
    • Doors open at 5:30 PM
    • Dinner is served at 6:00 PM

Ticket Information:

  • To purchase tickets, please contact the campus store.
  • Tickets can be purchased with cash, card, 2 meal swipes, or dining dollars for students.

Ticket Prices:

  • Thursday (April 11): General Admission - $5 for students, $10 for general admission. Tickets for Thursday's show will be available for purchase up to the date of the performance.
  • Friday (April 12) & Saturday (April 13): Dinner Theater - $25 per ticket. Tickets for the dinner theater performances must be purchased by Friday, April 5th. No exceptions will be made.

Goat Yoga class

The Vet Tech Club is sponsoring a Goat Yoga class! 

Event date Saturday March 30, 2024 at the ASC Farm. Pick a class time - either 10am or 11am. 

Registration is $10 and must be paid in advance by Friday March 29 at 4pm to reserve your spot. Space is limited! A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Hornell Humane Society. 

Some yoga mats available or bring your own. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. Suggested to bring water and a towel.

E-Bikes

It is that time of the year again where E-Bikes are available to use free of charge! Please see below for information regarding the bikes. 

You must be 18 years or older to utilize the E-Bikes

  • This form can be found on the Recreation Pioneer Link Page, or you can scan the QR codes around the SLC. 

All reservations requests must be submitted a minimum of one business day before your reservation time. All bikes being requested for the weekend must be requested by 3:30pm on Friday.

  • This is to make sure that we have staff available to hand out bikes.

Operational Policies: Operational time is 11am-7pm Monday-Friday and 10am-5pm Saturday-Sunday - 2 hour maximum!

  • Last reservations are 5pm M-F and 3pm Saturday/Sunday for two-hour periods. No bikes should travel further than the Dollar General in Alfred. Please follow the rules of the road. 

Helmets and safety training are provided before departure. Helmets must be worn at all times when utilizing the bike.

Stay For 4 - Submit Your Application In Time to Register For Fall Classes!

Any students who are planning to graduate this May from either an associate (or certificate) program who wish to continue their education at Alfred State College in a corresponding baccalaureate (or associate) degree program need to complete a SUNY Joint Admissions/Intent to Enroll Form.  This would also include any graduates who wish to pursue the Technology Management or Interdisciplinary Studies baccalaureate degree!

These forms should be completed and returned to the Admissions Office as soon as possible.  Students must submit their completed SUNY Joint Admissions/Intent to Enroll Forms to the Admissions Office by the end of March in order to sign-up for spring classes when course registration opens on April 8.  As a reminder, there is no application fee since students will be either associate degree (or certificate) recipients continuing in the corresponding program.

NYC Bus Trip - April 27th

NYS Bus Trip sponsored by Student Senate. 

Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at the campus store. Seating is limited so pick yours up fast.

The bus will pick students up from the SLC parking lot at 5:00am and arrive at the New York Public Library at approximately 10:45am.

The bus will leave from the New York Public Library at 8:00pm and arrive back to Alfred at approximately 1:45am. 

Students interested in going must purchase their ticket by Wednesday, April 24th. Be aware that all students attending must provide their own funds to purchase food and other desires during their trip.

The Last Day to Drop a Full-Term Class is Friday, March 29, 2024 at 4pm

  • Students must work with their academic department to complete a Course Change Notice to drop a class
  • The completed Course Change Notice should be brought to the Student Records and Financial Services Office for processing. 
  • Financial aid will review all course drops to determine any financial aid implications.   
  • A $20 fee is charged for a course drop. This fee can be paid online at my.AlfredState.edu/finances or in person at the Student Records and Financial Services Office.  A late fee will be added if it’s not paid within 30 days.

The Center for Civic Leadership is partnering with Student Success and Academic Advising in a two-part series exploring personal insights, learning journeys, majors, and career paths. The mini-series has been set up with first year and undeclared students in mind, but the planned activities and discussion points are beneficial for all.

Get Ready for Fall 2024 Registration

Fall 2024 registration begins April 8, 2024, at 9 AM!  The first step is printing a copy of the Course Selection Form from BannerWeb.  Next, meet with your academic adviser to review your course selections and receive your Alternate Registration PIN and web registration time. Registration instructions are available at my.AlfredState.edu/registration under “Records Office Resources.” 

 

Graduating and returning in a new major?  You will need to re-apply through Admissions and pay your enrollment deposit before you will be assigned a registration time and Alternate Registration PIN.  

 

Were you expecting to graduate this semester but now will not?  In order to be assigned a registration time, your academic department chair must remove you from the graduation list.  Follow up to make sure your name has been removed.

 

Please note that students are not officially registered for classes until their bills are paid/processed with Student Records and Financial Services.  Fall 2024 bills become available online July 1st and are due by 4:00 PM on August 8, 2024.

TIE Etiquette Dinner

Come join us Thursday, April 4th in the Allegany Room (CDH), for a dinner where students and staff members will be able to interact in a great setting. This will be a great opportunity to mingle with different professors and on campus Professionals and Staff members. Run for Student Senate Executive Board

Interested in running for the Student Senate Executive Board?

All positions earn a base pay of $15/hour for a maximum of 8 hours per week.

Elections will take place April 10th - April 12th.

A mandatory interest meeting will be scheduled for all potential candidates between Monday, March 18 – Tuesday, April 9th. Failure to attend will result in removal from the ballot.

Must be available every Tuesday from 5:00p to 8:00p for the academic year 2024-2025.

Fall 2024 Room Selection for New Students          

Selecting your Room! 

Room selection will begin April 1, 2024 for students whose tuition deposit is received by March 26.  

For those who have not paid their tuition deposit by March 26, room selection will begin on April 15, 2024. 

You will need to have your housing application completed in order to select your room! 

Selecting your room instructions:

  1. Log into your my.alfredstate.edu
  2. Select the “Housing” icon
  3. Return to "Housing Overview" 
  4.  Select the green "Browse Rooms"
  5. You can search for specific rooms by building/section and/or other residence preferences set up. This may take a couple of attempts pending on your preferences and room availability. "No bed available" will appear if there is not a room available through the preferences you set up. 
  6. Click the "bed" icon to select your room of choice. 
  7. Dialog window will be prompted with details of the selected room. 
  8. Click the "choose this bed" button
  9. Review the details of your room reservation. Click on "Assign me now" to confirm your assignment.  Click the "look at other rooms" link to browse other rooms. 

Please note individual room selection will close on August 1, 2024

Fall 2024 Housing Application Launches March 1

New, transfer, and returning students can log into Housing to complete your housing application for the fall 2024 semester beginning on March 1! 

Please note the actual room selection will being at a later date. Keep an eye on Student Announce for further details. 

Please follow these instructions: 

  1. Log into your my.alfredstate.edu
  2. Select the “Housing” icon
  3. All housing application forms are available under the Housing Overview tab. You will also have a recommended action to 'Apply for Housing' that will take you to the housing overview.
  4. Click the "Apply Now" button beside the housing you wish to apply.
  5. If you haven't completed your housing profile and profile questions, you may be required to complete both the housing profile and housing profile questions before proceeding to the housing application form.
  6. Once you have completed the housing profile and profile questions, you will be re-directed to your homepage. You can then use the recommended action or the housing overview to reopen the application. Select your Residence building preference by choosing the building that you would most like to live from the list on the left. You can reorder or remove preferences in the box on the left. Click "Save" to save your data, or click "Save and Continue" to proceed.
  7. Complete all questions on the application form. Mandatory questions on the application are marked with a red asterisk mark. After completing your application form, click "Save" to save your data, or click "Save and continue" to continue with your housing application process.
  8. On the Confirm Application page, carefully review your application details and check off the three terms listed indicating that you understand and agree with all statements.

Once your housing application is completed activate your RoomeeZ profile to find potential roommates! Please follow these instructions to activate and create your RoomeeZ profile.

  1. Turn on your profile under “My roommate profile.”
  2. Fill out the required fields on your roommate profile.
  3. Select which information you want shared with other students.
  4. Enter any social media and contact information you want to share.

You are now complete and can search for a potential roommate with other students who have created a RoomeeZ profile.

Aid for Part-Time Study Grant

Alfred State College has been awarded funding through NYS for the Aid for Part-Time Study (APTS) grant for the 2023-2024 academic year.  Students may be eligible to receive up to $1,000 for the Spring semester. 

Part-time students may obtain an application online by clicking Aid for Part Time Study Form or by emailing sfs@alfredstate.edu.

Students who submitted an application during the Fall 2023 semester and received the APTS grant do not have to submit another application for spring semester.

Some of the eligibility criteria for the APTS grant include:
- Be a matriculated student and consistently enrolled between three (3) and eleven (11) credit hours per   semester.
- Be a New York State resident
- Completed 2023-2024 FAFSA application
- Meet satisfactory academic progress
- Not receiving TAP or Part-Time TAP this semester

Students must submit a 2021 New York State Income Tax return for student (or parent if applicable) with the student or parent's signature along with the signed APTS application. Applications will not be reviewed until all documentation has been submitted and signed.

Forward the completed application and required tax forms to sfs@alfredstate.edu.  The deadline for the Spring semester is Friday, March 29, 2024.

Submission of an APTS application does not guarantee receipt of an award. Students will be notified of an award through BannerWeb after Friday, March 29, 2024. Students who are not eligible will receive an email through their Alfred State email account indicating the reason for ineligibility.
