The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals

The Alfred State Drama Club presents The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals November 21st, 22nd, and 23rd! Everything in Hatchetfield seemed normal until people began singing... Then, they began dancing... And now, a musical pandemic is sweeping the entire city. It’s up to Paul (an average guy who doesn’t like musicals) and his friends to stop this musical apocalypse and fight for humanity’s future. Come see the show! All performances will be in the Cappadonia Auditorium in Orvis Activities Center. Shows are 11/21 at 7 pm, 11/22 at 7 pm, 11/23 at 2 pm and 11/23 at 7 pm. Spring Registration Week is happening now! Our registration process looks different this semester so the Academic Advising Center has created a step-by-step guide with screenshots to help you through the process! ACES Office - Holiday Closure

The ACES Office will be closed on Thursday, November 28th (Thanksgiving) and Friday, November 29th. We will re-open for regular business hours on Monday, December 2nd. Our regular office hours are Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm. Have a safe, happy and thankful Thanksgiving!

Volunteer Fair This Saturday

Are you  interested in volunteering for your community but don't know where to go or how to get started? Come to the Volunteer Fair this Saturday, November 23rd anytime between 11am to 1pm at the David A Howe Library in Wellsville. There is a wide variety of organizations who are looking for volunteers in the community. Meet representatives from local businesses and nonprofit organizations and learn how you can make a difference in Allegany County. This is a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with local businesses and career paths. Volunteering is a great way to build on your resume.

Skarin Law Group’s Leaders Of Tomorrow Scholarship

Skarin Law Group announces its Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship, offered to promising scholars focused on helping others in need. This scholarship provides a $1,000 award to help ease the financial burden of earning an Associate, Bachelor’s, or Postgraduate degree. Retro Callof Duty 1v1 Tournament

Esports will be hosting a 1v1 Retro Call of Duty Event in the Pioneer Underground Gaming Room on Saturday, November 23, from 12:30 pm - 4:00 pm. Registration and bracket creation is from 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm.

Systems and controllers will be provided, but you are also welcome to bring your own gear! Come play and see if you are the best at BO2!

Nominate a Colleague for the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service

Is there someone on campus who goes above and beyond, not just meeting expectations but consistently setting the standard for excellence? Here's your chance to recognize and celebrate their outstanding contributions! Nominations for the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service are now being accepted for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Submit names and a brief statement of support by electronic form. Contact C.J. Rahr at 3541 for more information.

Criteria 2024-2025

  • Nominees for the award should be individuals who have repeatedly sought self-improvement, campus improvement, and ultimately, the State University’s excellence.
  • They should serve as professional role models for the University system in pursuing excellence.
  • Candidates must have completed three full-time academic years at the nominating campus within the past five years.
  • They must be present on campus and serving in full-time professional service capacities, with over 50% of their assignment in non-teaching services.
  • Promotion within the same department doesn’t prevent nomination.

Deadline: All nominations must be submitted by January 6, 2025.

Alternate bus options are available through https://trailways.com. Please note that Trailways bus leaves from Hornell, NY and you will need to find transportation to the bus station. 

Rochester Airport Shuttle 

Depart Alfred Wednesday, November 27 at 6am 

Return trip departs Rochester Airport Sunday, December 1st at 5pm 

Requests for Airport Shuttle must be to the Rochester Airport and students will have to fill out the Online travel request form for both their trips to and from the airport.

Student Senate General Assembly Meetings - Fall Schedule

The Fall Schedule for the Student Senate General Assembly Meeting is as follows:

  • Tuesday, September 10th: Class A Incentive Event - 3 Points
  • Tuesday, September 24th: Class B Incentive Event - 1 Point
  • Tuesday, October 15th: Class B Incentive Event - 1 Point
  • Tuesday, October 29th: Class B Incentive Event - 1 Point

Meetings will take place in a new location - Physical Health & Science Building (PHS) 107
Meetings will begin promptly at 7:00pm.

The Student Senate General Assembly (GA) provides the opportunity for all Students of Alfred State to discuss issues/concerns and hear updates in regard to all matters that affect campus life. These topics include, but are not limited to:

1. Campus Dining & Transportation

2. Academic & Technology Services

3. Student Engagement & Clubs/Organizations

4. Commuter Affairs & Campus Parking

5. University Police & Campus Safety

6. Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging. 

This semester the Student Senate Executive Board will be raffling off three $250 gift cards at the last General Assembly (GA) on 12/3/2024. To receive a ticket for the raffle you must attend a GA meeting throughout the semester. Each attendance will earn you one ticket.

Attendees must show up on time. Late attendance forfeits your ability to receive your raffle ticket.
