Equipment and Ebike Rentals

Campus Recreation is trying something new this year for E-bikes and Equipment on the weekends. Starting September 13th, we will have the following open hours where no reservation or request is needed to take out a bike or equipment:

Fridays 1-6pm 

Saturdays 1-4pm 

Sundays 1-4pm 

E-bikes:

  • you must be 18 years or older to utilize a bike
  • Rentals are for 2-hour periods 
  • Bikes are first come first serve as we have a limited amount. 
  • They are unable to be given out in poor weather conditions (rain, snow, etc.) 
  • To utilize on other days outside of open hours, please use the E-bike form on Pioneer Link

Equipment: 

  • No reservation is needed during open ours. 
  • Equipment can be signed out during normal business hours Monday-Thursday 8:30am-4:30pm as long as a staff member is in the office. No request needed. 
  • Equipment needed for a specific date and time or special event.

Club/Organization Involvement - Homecoming/Family Weekend

Calling all Clubs/Organizations! 

We are looking for your involvement with Homecoming & Family Weekend (HCFW)! New this year, there will be a parade during Homecoming & Family Weekend on Friday, October 18 leaving at 5:30 p.m. from the Student Leadership Center parking lot, #3 to the Pioneer stadium parking lots leading up to the Pep Rally. If you are signing up to participate in the parade, please arrive to parking lot #3 at 5 p.m. to check-in.

Also, if your club/organization would like to program during Homecoming/Family Weekend, please submit this survey. Submitting this information does NOT guarantee that your event will be approved, you will receive a decision from Calsey Bump, bumpce@alfredstate.edu by Wednesday, October 2. Please note, if you need to purchase anything for your requested event, it is your club/organization's responsibility to cover that expense. Do not purchase anything unless your event is approved.

Workforce Wednesday Series - 9/11 - Résumé Writing

Wednesdays are for workforce preparation!     This weekly drop in series in the Wellsville PSU computer lab will offer career planning and support every Wednesday.   A full list of topics and dates is available here.   Stop up any or every Wednesday any time between 2 and 4 pm.  No registration required, no time limit on visits.  After a 5 to 10 minute presentation there will be time for students to work applying presented content with coach and peer support.  


This weeks session, Wednesday 9/11/2024, is time for Résumé Writing.  Whether you have a start or need to start come on by!

Calling all Volunteers! Celebrate Alfred: Day of Service – September 21st

The Center for Civic Leadership is proud to be partnering once again with Alfred University and the Village of Alfred to host our 2nd annual Alfred Day of Service.  If you are interested in volunteering, we welcome helping hands as we engage in a variety of identified projects, from painting and gardening to street and creek clean-up.

  • Arrival time: 8:45 
  • Location: Village Bandstand

Service will take place following opening remarks and introduction to service projects at 9am and will continue until 12 (or until work is complete).

Student Parking Information/Commuter Lots - University Police

Please remember that parking lots 4, 9 and 13 are designated for Commuter Parking ONLY. Students who live on campus are not permitted to park in Commuter parking at any time (even if you travel to the Wellsville Campus). If your assigned hangtag is not a commuter tag, you will receive a parking violation for parking in the Commuter lots.  Vehicles have also been parking down the middle of parking lot #13, which has no designated (striped) parking spaces. Vehicles should not be parked outside of the striped spaces, as this is a violation of the parking regulations. commUNITY Potluck Series returns – help us celebrate home, heritage, community and culture through food!

Make a dish to share a taste of “home” and help enhance our culture of care in Alfred. The Center for Civic Leadership is partnering with Union University to revive a commUNITY potluck initiative.  This secular event welcomes all as we build commUNITY by engaging in conversation and sharing foods that evoke a feeling of home! Help us kick start this meaningful event this September, a month that is synonymous with sustainability, hunger action, and Hispanic Heritage.  

  • Location: Union University Center / 4 Church Street
  • Time: 6pm-8pm
  • Dates: Wednesday, September 18th / Wednesday, October 23rd / Wednesday, November 20th

“Tasters Choice” awards will be given at each event for the favorite dishes at each potluck.

REV+FLOW fitness class - it's a SWIFTIE semester!

What is REV+FLOW fitness? It is functional mobility that is low impact and high intensity at the same time. It is a one of a kind workout that is kind to your body as you develop strength, toning, balance, and flexibility. This semester, enjoy a super fun playlist featuring ALL Taylor Swift songs!

Drop into this FREE weekly class for students, faculty and staff on Wednesdays from 5 - 6 pm in The Studio at the Pioneer Center. Yoga mats and light (optional) hand weights are provided. Watch this short promotional video to see what you might expect during the REV+FLOW class.

On September 17th of every year, we celebrate the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. This year, Constitution Day coincides with National Voter Registration Day and the Center for Civic Leadership invites you to enhance your civic knowledge and connect through one or more of our events.

SPCA Theme Basket Auction

The SPCA Serving Allegany County Theme Basked Auction will be hosted on the Wellsville Campus/School of Applied Technology of Alfred State during the following times:

  • Friday, October 18th from 5PM to 9PM
  • Saturday, October 19th from 9AM to 4PM

The Theme Basket Auction is a penny social-style auction with different sections such as a kid’s corner and man cave. There are also special tickets and a separate section for more valuable prizes. The proceeds go to the SPCA Serving Allegany County which is a local animal shelter.

There are also several volunteer opportunities for students as well as Faculty and Staff looking to be involved in some civic engagement. Areas where volunteers will be accepted:

  • Wrapping baskets evenings between Monday, October 14th – Thursday, October 17th : Exact times and places will be announced later.
  • Help setting up the afternoon of Friday, October 18th 
  • Data Entry of ticket buyers and Food operations during the auction
  • Drawing operations after 4PM on Saturday, October 19th 
  • Handing out baskets to winners and transporting the baskets which the winners can’t make a same-day trip out
  • Tear-down and cleanup Sunday afternoon

'Note-Taking & Active Reading' Workshop

The Student Success Center will be hosting the Note-Taking & Active Reading Workshop on Wednesday, September 11th at 5pm in the Student Development Center, Room 109. This workshop will introduce different strategies designed to help you take notes on both class lectures and assigned readings more effectively.

The Fall Schedule for the Student Senate General Assembly Meeting is as follows:

The Student Senate General Assembly (GA) provides the opportunity for all Students of Alfred State to discuss issues/concerns and hear updates in regard to all matters that affect campus life. These topics include, but are not limited to:

This semester the Student Senate Executive Board will be raffling off three $250 gift cards at the last General Assembly (GA) on 12/3/2024. To receive a ticket for the raffle you must attend a GA meeting throughout the semester. Each attendance will earn you one ticket.

Attendees must show up on time. Late attendance forfeits your ability to receive your raffle ticket.

Love, Commitment, and Beyond: Love and Relationships Edition

Join Dr. Brian Saltsman and Amira Martin-Saltsman, LCSW-r as they facilitate a discussion on romantic relationships, the expression of love, healthy relationships, and how we manifest and experience love, individually and collectively.

This is the first in a planned series of follow-up discussions from last year's very popular "Black Love" discussion. All Alfred State Campus community members are invited and encouraged to attend this open dialogue. The discussion will be held on Friday, September 13th from 3:00 - 4:30pm in the Small Events Space on the 3rd Floor of the Student Leadership Center. We will also have light refreshments for those in attendance. You may also RSVP on Pioneerlink. (RSVPs are NOT required)

It is important for everyone to see, share, and experience our communities and unique experiences. There are no boundaries to what we can achieve when we come together as a community and share and be exposed to various experiences and perspectives. Please join us and make this yet another extraordinary event. Hispanic Heritage Month Tabling @ Alfred Farmer's Market

Afua Boahene and Dr. Saltsman from the Cultural Life Center (CLC) will be tabling at the Farmers' Market in Alfred at the Village Bandstand on Sunday, September 15th from 11 am-3 pm to celebrate the start of Hispanic Heritage Month. During the event they will be there providing information, wristbands, flags and buttons of Latin American countries, posters, and other giveaways. We invite and encourage all members of the community to stop by the table to say hi and learn more about Hispanic Heritage Month. We will even have some coloring pages and crayons for the young (and young at heart). Hope to see you there!

High Heel Donation Collecting!

Hello everyone! As the semester has started, Pi Nu Epsilon sorority is collecting high heels! These donations are a part of our Domestic Violence Week which will be held later this Fall semester. Afterwards, they will be donated to ACCORD so women in shelters can have clothes for events such as job interviews. You can drop them off at our leadership suite in SLC 307. We will have sisters in there every week day from 10am-4pm. If you have any questions or need assistance with donating, please get in touch with our philanthropy chairman, Bee Williams, at williara@alfredstate.edu.

PARKING LOT 22 is back to STUDENT PARKING

University Police would like to inform you that as of 9/9/2022 Lot 22 up on the side of Orvis has returned to a STUDENT Parking lot. The sign has been changed to Student Parking. As such any student with a Student or Commuter Parking permit is allowed to park in this lot.
