Are you in need of a job starting this semester that goes through May 2025? Would you be interested in a dynamic position as an AmeriCorps member helping potential students and their families learn about Financial Aid? It would be a great way to build your resume. If so, we may have an opportunity for you through the Financial Aid Work Study Program. 

If you qualify for the Federal Work Study program, we currently have two openings to fill. Alfred State CAL Club is reaching out to any and all students with any interest in agriculture! Whether is be dairy cows, beef cows, sheep, goats, crops or any other area of agriculture, we have a place for you. Our goals as a club is to help advocate all areas of agriculture and help educate the public about all the great things farmers do. We host guest speakers to talk about career opportunities in the ag industry, we go on field trips, have club bonding events(ag related and non ag related) and our big event this fall will be organizing a haunted trail held at the college farm. 

When and where can you find us? We meet every Wednesday at the college farm(location to be discussed if there is enough interest to move it to campus) in the classrooms at 6:30 p.m.

The Vet Tech Club is happy to announce their annual dog wash! It will be held Saturday September 28 from 10am to 2pm in the HOPR of the SLC. This is a basic wash, NO grooming (dematting, detangling, clipping, etc) is available. Open to students and faculty of Alfred State as well as members of the community. Well behaved dogs only! All dogs must be leashed and up to date on vaccinations. 

Basic dog wash $10

Ear cleaning $5

Nail trim $5

Package (wash, ears, nails) $15

Proceeds from the dog wash support club activities, including donations to the Hornell Humane Society.

Do you have a hidden talent that you are ready to showcase?! 

We are so excited to announce that our annual talent show, Alfred's Got Talent, will be back for another year during Homecoming/Family Weekend and you can sign up for an audition now! The Talent Show will be on Saturday, October 19 in the Orvis Auditorium starting promptly at 7 p.m., however if performing, you must be there by 6 p.m. to allow for prep.

If you make it through auditions, you must be present at Alfred's Got Talent, as well as the Tech Rehearsals on Friday, October 18 in Orvis Auditorium. The time of the tech rehearsals is 4-7 p.m., you will only need to be present for your practice time slot, which will be assigned after auditions.

Homecoming Family Weekend is fast approaching and it is time to start thinking  about our Annual Basket Raffle!  Is your department or organization interested in donating a basket for the raffle?  We encourage you to come up with a unique and fun theme for your basket!  Please reach out to Calsey Bump at BumpCE@alfredstate.edu or by calling X4959 to let us know if you are planning on donating a basket.  Baskets will need to be wrapped in cellophane and delivered to the Office of Student Engagement in the Student Leadership Center no later than Wednesday, October 16th.  Baskets will be displayed and tickets can be purchased in the Student Leadership Center in Room 204 on Friday, October 18th from 10am until 4pm and  at the Pep Rally Friday night near the Pioneer Stadium from 6:30PM - 10PM.  They will also be displayed at Homecoming on Saturday, October 19th during the tailgate festivities with tickets being drawn at halftime.  Tickets will be sold as a sheet of 25 tickets for $10.  You may purchase multiple sheets if desired.”

The Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Dept. has started up a Robotics Club! ANYONE can join, participate or just observe! We will be meeting every Thursday from 6-8 p.m. in SET Engineering building Rm #454. 

Are you interested in using the gaming computers in the Student Leadership Center? Alfred State Esports is happy to announce our Open Hours for the Fall 2024 semester! The Student Leadership Center, Room 319 will be open during the following days and times:

RA's get leadership development, mentorship with professionals, soft skill development and a resume builder, opportunities to advance into paid positions, and getting their room paid for!

The Student Senate General Assembly (GA) provides the opportunity for all Students of Alfred State to discuss issues/concerns and hear updates in regard to all matters that affect campus life. These topics include, but are not limited to:

3. Student Engagement & Clubs/Organizations

4. Commuter Affairs & Campus Parking

5. University Police & Campus Safety

6. Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging. 

This semester the Student Senate Executive Board will be raffling off three $250 gift cards at the last General Assembly (GA) on 12/3/2024. To receive a ticket for the raffle you must attend a GA meeting throughout the semester. Each attendance will earn you one ticket.

Attendees must show up on time. Late attendance forfeits your ability to receive your raffle ticket.
