Student Announce November 7, 2025

CD Jewel cases needed

Botany students make mini rhizotrons (for viewing root growth) out of old CD jewel cases. If you have some you don't need anymore, please contact Jessica Hutchison (HutchiJM@alfredstate.edu) and she will come pick them up. She can also show you how to make your own! Jewel cases need to be the thicker ones, not the thin, flat type since they need to hold soil.

Tips for Successful Course Registration

Spring registration begins Monday, November 17. Here are some tips to ensure a smooth registration process:

  1. Meet with Your Advisor Early: Schedule a meeting with your academic advisor before November 17 to discuss your course choices, confirm they align with your degree requirements, and get your registration PIN and time ticket. This step is essential to avoid any registration delays.
  2. Register Promptly: Sign up for your classes as soon as registration opens. Courses can fill up quickly, especially popular or required ones, so registering early gives you the best chance to secure your preferred schedule.
  3. Check Financial Aid Messages: Pay attention to any financial aid notifications that appear while registering. Financial aid can be affected if you’re enrolling in a repeated course or one that doesn’t count toward your degree, which might lead to unexpected charges.

Helpful registration resources (How-to Guides) are available to students by visiting my.AlfredState.edu, selecting “Academics,” and then choosing “Additional Academic Info” on the “Academic Resources” card.
