Parking Lots 19 & 20 Closing at 4pm Thursday - University Police

Parking Lots 19 & 20 (top two tier lots by Pioneer Stadium) will be closing at 4pm on Thursday, April 30th. The lots will remain closed through the day on May 1st for the Special Olympics. Students that are required to move should park in any other residential student parking lot. This does not include commuter student parking lots. 

Please keep in mind, there is always available parking in parking lot 31 (which can be accessed behind Peet Hall). Vehicles that remain in closed parking lots, or re-enter after the closing time are subject to enforcement up to and including towing at the owner’s expense. Please spread the word and continue to monitor your daily announcements.

The lots will remain closed through the day on the 3rd for the Honors Convocation. Students that are required to move should park in any other residential student parking lot. This does not include commuter student parking lots.

Alfred Cup Presentation

On Thursday, April 30 members of the Alfred State and Alfred University athletic departments will gather at 1 p.m. to announce the winner of the inaugural Pioneer Cup. The event will take place in the lawn of the Fasano House right next to the main entrance of both institutions.

All members of the Alfred State, Alfred University, and local community are invited to join the event.

$1000 Scholarship opportunity: Calling all students who made Dean’s List and helped the community!

Did you have a 3.5 GPA while taking 12+ credit hours and also demonstrate your commitment to the campus or surrounding community through action or involvement?  The Association for Council Members and College Trustees (ACT) offers an opportunity to apply for a competitive $1000 scholarship with an additional $250 given to the charity of your choice.  If interested in applying, please contact  SmithDL1@alfredstate.edu for a copy of the application form.  Please note: ACT only awards one winner among all students in the Colleges of Technology sector.  The application deadline is June 1, 2026 (submitted application form to SmithDL1@alfredstate.edu).

'Start Finals Prep Now' Workshop

The Student Success Center will be hosting the Start Finals Prep Now Workshop on Wednesday, April 29th at 5pm in the Student Development Center, Room 109. Start Finals Prep Now will help prepare students for Final Exams. Students will learn the different stages of exam prep that includes before, during and after checklists, the study cycle, and mistakes to avoid in order to do their very best on Final Exams. In addition, students will learn strategies to address the causes of testing anxiety and leave with an individualized plan to overcome their own personal test taking anxieties.

Manufacture Your Future event for high school students, May 1st

ASC is hosting a Manufacture Your Future, career exploration event for high school students in the SET building on May 1st. Approximately 125 high school students and staff will be on campus with our professors and students learning about manufacturing equipment. Local manufacturing companies will also be on site to offer interactive hands-on learning experiences to these students. Please be patient and use caution as there will be an influx of traffic due to this event and others taking place on our campus.

Summer Closing and Travel Information

The residence halls close Saturday, May 9th at 7:00 pm, so all students will need to be out of the residence halls at that time.  If you need to stay past the closing time until Sunday, please email your building professional with the reason you need to stay to request approval to stay late. 

Need to stay for Summer? 

Only students who have been approved to stay for the break will be allowed in the residence halls after that time. All others may be charged with trespassing.

We are anticipating a $60 change per week for summer housing, but a final decision will be made the first week of May. Payments must be paid within 30 days of your bill, any remaining amount at the end of the summer will be placed onto your student account in the form of a hold. Additional information on acceptable payment methods and payment locations will be provided to those approved for summer break housing. 

Students will only be approved who:

  • Live over 500 miles away (according to your home Banner Address)
  • Have a Special Circumstance (ex. You do not have a place to go, homeless, etc.)
  • Working for the college during the break (with Supervisors Approval)
  • Have an athletic commitment (with Athletics approval)
  • International Student
  • Taking summer classes (will be confirmed with your academic advisor and/or class professor)

Megabus is offering non-stop bus services to New York City and Alfred for Summer break. Dates and times of bus travel are listed below! 

To New York City: 

Friday, May 8th departing from Orvis Activities Center or West University St at 2:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m.

Sunday, May 10th departing from Orvis Activities Center or West University at 7:45 a.m.

Alternate bus options are available through https://trailways.com. Please note that Trailways bus leaves from Hornell, NY and you will need to find transportation to the bus station. 

Rochester Airport Shuttle 

Depart Alfred Saturday, May 9th at 6am and Sunday, May 10th at 6am

Requests for Airport Shuttle to the Rochester Airport must be submitted via the Online travel request form for rides up to the Rochester Airport.
