Did you have a 3.5 GPA while taking 12+ credit hours and also demonstrate your commitment to the campus or surrounding community through action or involvement?  The Association for Council Members and College Trustees (ACT) offers an opportunity to apply for a competitive $1000 scholarship with an additional $250 given to the charity of your choice.  If interested in applying, please contact  SmithDL1@alfredstate.edu for a copy of the application form.  Please note: ACT only awards one winner among all students in the Colleges of Technology sector.  The application deadline is June 1, 2026 (submitted application form to SmithDL1@alfredstate.edu).

The Office of Residential Services and Student Success Center are hiring Academic Peer Mentors (APMs) for Fall 2026

• Academic Peer Mentors (APMs) are live-in residential staff that are co-supervised by Residential Services and the Student Success Center (SSC).
• APMs will connect with mentees in their residence hall to establish academic, social, and career goals. 

• The APMs will also engage residents in timely and topical conversations to help student develop a deeper understanding of how to be successful in college. 

   

• REQUIREMENTS:
  -Minimum of a 2.75 GPA
  -Live in a first-year building (Burdick, Braddon, Shults, Peet, R/C, and Mackenzie South & North)
  -A good listener with an open mind.
  -Trustworthy, reliable, and responsible.
  -A good role model.
  -Familiar with a wide range of campus resources.
  
  COMMITMENT: ~10 hours per week
  
  COMPENSATION: Half the cost of a standard double room
