đ 30-Second Scholarship Universe Classroom Pitch for Students đ
Mary PerkinsFeb. 11, 2026
PLEASE remind students to log in to Scholarship Universe!
Here is a 30-second quick pitch you can share in your classrooms or even in the hallway:
Alfred State has a new scholarship platform called Scholarship Universe. Itâs the one place where students can be matched with both internal and external scholarships.
5 Things to Know:
- When students log in, theyâll land on a dashboard. To unlock scholarships, the most important step is answering the matching questions â they can click the green bar with the dollar signs at the top or the âQuestionsâ tab on the left.
- As students answer questions, the system automatically matches them with scholarships they may qualify for. Matches can be viewed under the âScholarshipsâ tab on the left toolbar. Scholarships are labeled as Match, Partial Match, or Non-Match.
- Students can see application-based scholarships under the âApplicationsâ tab, including a section for ones that are âReady to Start.â
- If documents are required, students can upload everything directly under the âMy Docsâ tab.
- Itâs quick, itâs easy, and itâs absolutely worth it â scholarships are open NOW, so students should log in and get started.

Be a Big Blue Super Hero đ
Sandra BurdickFeb. 5, 2026

đ Scholarship Universe â A Time-Saving Tool for Faculty & Students
Mary PerkinsJan. 27, 2026
We have officially integrated our private donor scholarships within Scholarship Universe! With this database being a centralized scholarship platform, it is designed to make the scholarship process simpler, faster, and more efficient for everyone.
⨠Why this matters:
Scholarship Universe significantly reduces manual work, streamlines the review process, and helps ensure students are matched with scholarships they actually qualify for, all in one place!
As students return to the classroom, we kindly ask for your help in spreading the word by encouraging them to log in and complete their matching questions.
https://alfredstate.scholarshipuniverse.com
đ Important to know:
In order for students to be matched with internal and external scholarships for the upcoming academic year, they must answer the matching questions within Scholarship Universe. If those questions arenât completed, students wonât appear as eligible applicants during the review process.
As shared in our previous announcement, once we have fully learned and tested the system, we will offer training sessions at various times and days to walk faculty and staff through the scholarship review and selection process. Our goal is to ensure everyone feels comfortable and confident using this new tool before diving in.
Your encouragement will help students take full advantage of this systemâand will ultimately save everyone time down the road. Thank you for helping us launch this exciting new tool!

Scholarship Changes Coming Soon â Empowering Students with More Opportunities
Mary PerkinsDec. 16, 2025
Dear Faculty and Staff,
We are excited to share that Alfred State has adopted a new scholarship management system: Scholarship Universe by Ellucian. This powerful tool not only helps our institution streamline scholarship processes but also gives students access to a wide range of external scholarship opportunities.
Currently, any accepted or enrolled student can log in at https://alfredstate.scholarshipuniverse.com to explore and apply for external scholarships they may qualify for. Please encourage your students to check it out as they head home for break. If students have any questions, please direct them to use the email: AlfredStateScholarships@alfredstate.edu
As for Alfred State campus scholarships, we are working diligently to integrate them into the system. Once this setup is complete, we will schedule training sessions at various times and days for departments and reviewers to guide you through the new process which will be consistent with the scholarship timeline that we have used at Alfred State.
Thank you for your patience and support as we implement these exciting changes, and please don't hesitate to reach out to Chris Vernam and/or Mary Perkins with any questions.
We hope you have a magical holiday season! đ

Mary Huntington's Celebration Scholarship
Mary PerkinsMay. 8, 2024
In May of last year, we celebrated a monumental occasion with Mary Huntington's 100th Birthday Celebration at the Lake Lodge. In memory of this event a scholarship was created, primarily for students that are non-traditional (entering Alfred State 5 years after high school), a resident of Allegany, Steuben or Cattaraugus counties and is chosen by the Financial Aid Department where Dr. Huntington's scholarship is as well. Your contribution to this scholarship would be greatly appreciated and will have a positive impact on our students!
To contribute to this scholarship, we have created a webpage.
