Alfred State has enhanced its non-partisan political engagement resources and partnered with ALL IN to implement a voter registration and resource portal for our students! A new Register to Vote link can be found on the Student Portal Page under student resources. From that link you can either continue to voter registration resources that are relevant for you and the state you wish to be registered in or you can use a pull down menu in the top corner of the landing page that says Get Vote Ready to access additional resources such as:
If you are registering to vote in NYS the last day to have your registration logged with the Board of Elections is October 26th, but each state had different deadlines and we recommend that eligible students get registered ASAP so that you have time to verify your voter status, check your polling location, and make a plan to vote (i.e. mail in ballot, early voting location, scheduling a time to get to your polling location on election day). Should you have questions about the voting process or navigating the above resources, we have staff that are able to assist on both the Alfred and Wellsville campus, their contact details and additional resources can be found on our Political Engagement page.

Did you know that Licensed Veterinary Technicians are a key part of the health and well being of your pets when they are in a Veterinary Hospital, and even when your pet is home with you, but you have questions about their care? They do everything from blood draws to lab work, monitoring anesthesia to assisting in surgical procedures, dispensing medications and ensuring you understand why that medication was prescribed and how to properly administer it when you take your pet home. They are counselors, educators, scrub nurses, physical rehabilitation specialists, surgical assistants, radiologists, ultrasound technicians, post op recovery nurses, nurse anesthetists, pharmacy techs, behavior specialists, schedulers, and so much more. They are highly trained, and can do the job of 20 different people on the human side in one day.
This week is National Veterinary Technician Week! Let's celebrate these amazing individuals by being a little kinder to people, and thanking that special LVT in your animal's life.

If you are interested in joining a FACT2 Task Group please email the co-chairs directly.
FACT2 Experiential Learning Task Group Signup –
While approaches to experiential learning vary, SUNY has focused on curricular experiences that are structured, intentional and authentic (Applied Learning Initiative), and integrated within credit-based courses or programs of study. Experiences should have hands-on and/or real-world context and should be designed in concert with those who will be affected by or use them, or in response to a real situation. Additional expectations include intentional curricular design featuring the following minimal requirements, with opportunity for further customization and signature offerings.
While the possibilities are limitless, the importance of the work calls for a focused and practical planning process, one that results in tangible outcomes that are inherently useful for SUNY campuses and programs, while also ambitious and generative, culminating in an actionable and sustainable plan for activating the benefits of experiential learning for all SUNY students while catalyzing broader impacts related to innovation, and economic and sustainable development.
Co-chairs: Mara Huber (mbhuber@buffalo.edu) Ed Beck (ed.beck@oneonta.edu)
FACT2 Generative AI in Action Task Group Signup –
As faculty, staff, and students continue to navigate the changing landscape of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI), ongoing guidance and support is needed to ensure that these tools are being leveraged in ways that support effective teaching and student success. This group will focus on the use and application of GAI in various teaching contexts, focusing on positive ways to use GAI. The group will comprise three subcommittees, described below, each tasked with specific goals that will result in the creation of resources and information designed to meet the pressing needs of the SUNY faculty and students.

Program Exit (PSLO) Survey results are being uploaded to Watermark Planning & Self-Study today (Monday, May 13). The Program Exit Surveys ask students to rate how well the program prepared them to achieve each program student learning outcome. For those who are completing academic assessment plans in Watermark Planning & Self-Study this week, they will be uploaded to the first PSLO in each 2023-24 Academic Assessment Plan, in the Program Exit Survey measure. The reports are in PDF format. Each PSLO being assessed should have a Program Exit Survey measure, and the PDF results can be used to complete these measures in the rest of the program's annual academic assessment plan.
If you don't find survey results uploaded to your program in Watermark Planning & Self-Study by Tuesday, May 14, this means there were no surveys completed or there were no graduating students from the program. The surveys will remain open until May 25, so if there are graduating students from your program, please reach out to them to ask them to complete the survey. All students received emailed survey links and reminders to complete the survey addressed from Bridget Jacobs, Alfred State College Surveys.
Questions about Program Exit Surveys or about assessment? Contact Bridget Jacobs at jacobsbm@alfredstate.edu. I also look forward to seeing many of you during the Assessment PDW sessions on Tuesday, 5/14 on the Alfred and Wellsville campuses (see the PDW schedule for times, locations and details).

Program Exit (PSLO) Surveys have been sent to students who are expected to complete their programs this spring from those departments/programs that participate in this college-wide assessment activity. These surveys ask students how well they think their programs prepared them to succeed in each of the expected student learning outcomes. These surveys are the main indirect assessment activity that most programs use and they are very important to our academic assessment plan.
Surveys opened on April 15 and will run through mid-May to give graduating students ample time to complete the survey. Students received an email to their Alfred State email address from Bridget Jacobs, Alfred State College-Surveys at Surveys@alfredstate.edu and most of them will also see a pop-up box in myLearning encouraging them to "Please Complete Your Course Evaluations and Surveys". Students graduating from multiple programs, or those in programs administering more than one version of the exit survey received multiple surveys based on their program(s). Please direct any questions about the survey to your school's Academic Support Assistant, dean or department chair administrative assistant, or to Bridget Jacobs, Director of Assessment at jacobsbm@alfredstate.edu.
To maintain high response rates, please encourage students to access and complete the survey. If students do not find the survey in MyLearning, please ask them to look in their Alfred State email for an email asking them how well they think their program prepared them to succeed so they can access the survey from there. Thank you!
