To support a smooth start to the 2026-2027 academic year, Alfred State has updated its parking regulations that became effective July 1. These changes are designed to keep spaces available for those who are parked correctly, deter parking violations, and promote orderly traffic flow across campus.

What’s changing:

• One unified student parking system: Student parking is fully integrated so it’s clearer where they can park and easier to find an open space.      There are no subcategories.
• Parking fine amounts increase by $5 (for example, a standard $25 ticket becomes $30). This update, after more than fifteen years of the former rate, aims to ensure there is some deterrence to parking in restricted areas (like faculty-staff parking areas).
• Escalated fines for repeated violations in the same academic year (to address persistent non-compliance in restricted areas like faculty-staff parking):
  • More than 5 tickets in academic year: each additional ticket is $50
  • More than 10 tickets in academic year: each additional ticket is $100
  • More than 20 tickets: parking privileges may be suspended or revoked (a last resort for a vehicle operator unwilling to alter behavior).
• The goal is not to issue more tickets — it’s to reduce them through greater compliance in restricted areas like faculty-staff parking. Those cost escalations for persistent violations reset after the conclusion of the academic year.

Alfred State has adopted updated Discrimination Complaint Procedures for both Title VI and Title IX matters. These procedures outline how reports of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and related concerns are addressed and resolved by the College.

We encourage all students, faculty, and staff to review the updated policy, which is now available on the Human Resources SharePoint, on the Title VI & IX webpages.

Saturday, September 26 will be packed with festivities, including the Carly 5K, Brunch Tailgate, Car Show, Basket Raffle, College Game Day, and Pioneer Football vs. Utica, plus plenty more throughout the weekend.

Want to enjoy Homecoming with a few extra perks? The VIP Experience includes a special gift, reserved parking and seating, and a ticket to the Tailgate BBQ. It’s a great way for faculty and staff to join alumni, families, and friends for the celebration!

Calling All Car Enthusiasts!
The Homecoming Car Show returns Saturday from 11 AM - 1 PM in Parking Lot 20A. Have a vehicle you’d love to show off? Register and be part of one of the weekend’s featured events, or simply stop by to check out the cars!

Institutional Advancement and Alumni Relations is excited to once again coordinate the Homecoming Basket Raffle, a favorite Homecoming tradition that helps make Homecoming/Family Weekend even more special for our campus community.

We're inviting departments across campus to join in the fun by donating a themed basket for this year's raffle! Whether it's filled with local favorites, movie night essentials, coffee treats, tailgating gear, self-care items, or something uniquely representative of your department, your creativity and generosity help make this event a highlight of the weekend.

How to Participate

• Sign Up: Please contact Evelyn Piatt in Institutional Advancement at x3930 or by emailing PiattEL@alfredstate.edu to let us know if your department plans to donate a basket.
• Basket Deadline: All baskets must be delivered by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22.
• Drop-Off Location: Please bring baskets to the Alumni House, located on the Lower Campus Loop.
• Presentation: To help keep everything secure and looking its best, please wrap baskets in clear cellophane.

A Little Friendly Competition!

To make this year's basket raffle even more fun, we're adding a little Homecoming competition! The department whose basket sells the most raffle tickets will win a special treat for their department. So get creative, have fun with your theme, and encourage your colleagues to help your basket take the top spot!

The "Stoplight" Rivalry begins this week, and we have one goal in mind- Taking back our Cup! So don't miss out as your Alfred State Women's Soccer Team opens the Alfred Cup season on the pitch Tuesday September 1st in Pioneer Stadium at 7pm against Alfred University and then the Alfred State Men's Soccer team makes the long trek across the street for their battle at 6pm Wednesday September 2nd in Yunevich Stadium.  Get out and support- Wear your Blue and Gold to wash out all that purple, in what's to be two awesome nights to be a Pioneer!! 

As a reminder, please do not move computers, monitors, printers, classroom technology, audiovisual equipment, or other technology-related items without first contacting Technology Services.

While moving equipment may seem straightforward, even a simple relocation can affect inventory records, licensing, network connectivity, security, support coverage, and classroom or office functionality. In many cases, equipment is assigned to a specific space, department, or configuration, and it may not be obvious how moving it could affect other users or services.

If equipment needs to be relocated, our team is happy to assist with the move and ensure everything is properly documented and continues to function as expected. To help us manage this process effectively, we strongly request that employees contact the Technology Services Help Desk before moving any equipment so that appropriate coordination can take place.

SLC Building Hours – Fall Semester

The Student Leadership Center (SLC) is open during the following hours for the semester:

Monday–Saturday: 7:00 AM–Midnight
Sunday: 7:00 AM–10:00 PM

Need access to the SLC outside of these hours for a late-night event or other campus business? Please contact Maggie Gause at weissmm@alfredstate.edu at least 48 hours in advance to arrange access.
