Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day
We are pleased to announce that the annual Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day is scheduled for Thursday, April 10th, for the children and grandchildren of Alfred State employees, ages 8-13. The day will begin at 8:30am and feature demonstrations by faculty, staff, and students, along with games, activities, and tours of various campus areas. With 30 slots available, participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Each registered child will receive a lunch voucher for the Central Dining Hall, where they can enjoy lunch with their parent or grandparent; parents and grandparents are responsible for their own meals. Children are encouraged to bring an item for the food pantry.
Please contact Kayla Cilvick at cilvickr@alfredstate.edu for registration forms or by phone at extension 4023 with any questions. The deadline for registration is Friday, March 28th.
Stay For 4 - Submit Your Application In Time to Register For Fall Classes!
Any students who are planning to graduate this May from either an associate (or certificate) program who wish to continue their education at Alfred State College in a corresponding baccalaureate (or associate) degree program need to complete a SUNY Joint Admissions/Intent to Enroll Form. This includes any graduates who wish to pursue the Technology Management or Interdisciplinary Studies baccalaureate degree!
This form should be submitted online by the end of March in order to sign-up for fall classes when course registration opens on April 7. As a reminder, there is no application fee since students will be either associate degree (or certificate) recipients continuing in the corresponding program.
The SUNY Joint Admissions/Intent to Enroll form is available at https://www.alfredstate.edu/stay-for-four.
UUP Organizing This Week: Visits to UUP Represented Employees
This week, UUP's organizer Danielle Judge will be visiting UUP employees on campus and at home March 12 and 13. She is assigned to our campus by the statewide office to help us with having educational conversations and signing up new members represented by UUP (faculty and professional staff). Don't be surprised if she and our local UUP representatives drop by to say hi and help you know more about what being a member of United University Professions does for you, Alfred State, SUNY, and the world!
UUP MEMBERS MAKE SUNY WORK. A higher proportion of membership adds to our negotiating leverage for improving our work lives and benefitting SUNY as a whole. Membership is NOT automatic; check your pay stub and if you’re not already a member, you can sign up at http://uupinfo.org/join
Great Colleges to Work for survey begins March 17
Alfred State is once again participating in the Great Colleges to Work For survey, and we need your input to make it a success! The survey will be open from March 17 to March 31, and employees will receive an email with their personal login information to access it. The survey is quick, easy, anonymous, and confidential.
How Your Confidentiality is Protected:
ModernThink, an independent research and consulting firm specializing in workplace excellence, administers the survey and ensures confidentiality in several ways:
- Your responses go directly to ModernThink and are processed independently.
- The college does not receive any data that could link responses to individuals, even within small demographic groups. Results are only reported when at least five respondents fall into a category.
Your voice matters! Your feedback helps us understand what makes Alfred State a great place to work and where we can improve. This is your opportunity to share your honest insights, knowing that your responses are completely anonymous.
Thank you for helping us build a stronger, more supportive workplace. We appreciate your participation!
New Alfred State Shirts - Arbor Day Fundraiser
Alfred States Community Garden has partnered with The Center for Civic Leadership to revive Arbor Day celebrations! Tree-themed Alfred State shirts will be sold for $15.00 at the Campus Store to help us fund our celebrations. Proceeds from shirt sales will support Arbor Day funding, helping us purchase fruit trees, which will be planted near Alfred States Community Garden for present and future generations to nurture and enjoy. Help us plant roots for the future and support us through the purchase of these shirts and mark Arbor Day (April 25th) on your calendars so you can join us for our tree planting ceremony and garden party (more information to come). In addition, if you are looking for a way to volunteer in lead up to the event, our Community Garden Coordinator is looking for volunteers to help spruce up the garden in time for spring plantings throughout the month of April.
Should you have any questions or want to get involved, please reach out to Tom Kacalski (KacalsTD@alfredstate.edu) or Cyan Corwine (corwincy@alfredstate.edu)
