Pioneers Vote! Vote Ready Resources and Deadlines

Pioneers Vote! Make sure you have the information and resources you need to participate in the upcoming November 3, 2026, Election.

Get Registered

If you are eligible but not registered to vote or need to update your registration, you have several options:

  • Online: Visit the New York State Board of Elections website to register or update your voter information. Registering out of the state? Click here. Or you can use our Voter Registration portal
  • Paper Registration Form: Stop by the accessibility services office in SDC, the Pioneer Student Union Building on Wellsville campus, or the Student Leadership Center to pick up a voter registration form from either the Civic Engagement suite (SLC4 412) or from the Director of Global Engagement and Civic Wellbeing office (SLC 416). We’ll even save you the stamp!
  • In Person: You may also register through your local Board of Elections or any New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office.

New York State voter registration deadline: October 24, 2026.

Three Ways to Vote in New York

  1. Vote Early In-Person
Early voting for the General Election is October 24–November 1, 2026. Locations and hours vary by county. Find early voting site(s) here.
  2. Vote on Election Day
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Polls in New York are open from 6 a.m.–9 p.m. Find your polling place.

Note: those registered to vote with an Alfred address will vote at A E Crandall Hook and Ladder Co Fire Station in the village of Alfred (4 S Main, Alfred, NY 14802)

If you do not use your local campus address to register to vote you will need to either plan to vote early wherever you are registered (if it is not easily commutable on election day) or vote by mail so your vote can be counted where you are registered.

Use our Find Your Polling Place portal tool so you know where to cast your ballot on election day!

  3. Vote by Mail
New York voters may request a ballot to be mailed to them, which you will then fill out and mail back to your Board of Elections. Requests to receive a ballot by mail must be received by October 24. You can receive a ballot in person by going to your local Board of Elections by November 2.
  • Are you registered in another county and need information about voting by mail? You can request a ballot through NYS Request a Ballot website and follow the instructions to ensure your vote is counted. Note that absentee ballots and early mail ballots function similarly in NYS; you may apply for either.
  • Need to request an absentee ballot from a different state? Click here.
  • We also have a Request Your Ballot tool that can help guide you to the appropriate BOE page based on your registration information.

Know Before You Vote

Feeling shaking about voting because you don’t know who and what will be on your Ballot, we have a tool for that! Don’t treat democracy like a multiple-choice test that you didn’t study for, research candidates and make informed decisions that you feel good about!

Check out our Research Your Ballot tool to not only see who and what will be on your ballot but to learn more about the position and each candidate

Questions or need help? Contact us at civicengagement.alfredstate.edu or stop by SLC 416 or any of the offices located at the bottom of our Political Engagement Page

Community Trick-or-Treat Event October 30th

Alfred State is once again opening the doors to the SLC park-space and leadership suites for our wider community to bring their children for a trick-or-treat event and we invite you to be a collaborative partner!

  • Date - Friday, October, 30th
  • Location - 3rd Floor of Alfred States Student Leadership Center
  • Time- 5pm to 7pm

There are a few ways to be involved:

  • Celebrate your campus affinities while engaging in this spirited community engagement event by signing your club/department/class up to have a table in the SLC to hand out "treats" to the community "treaters"
  • Can't donate your time but want to help with supplies? Donate candy or Halloween-themed swag to be handed out by campus organizations on the night.
  • Looking for something fun to do with your family, dress up and pilot those costumes with your children for a warm "trick-or-treat" experience in the SLC and help us spread the word to the wider community (we can even print a poster for you to put up where folks in wider community can see).
    • Student Unions is further supporting the event by screening a festive spooky-season classic (yet to be determined) as they have done in the past.

For sign up to support this event complete our community trick-or-treat table sign-up form (using your Alfred State credentials). If you have any questions, please email civicengagement@alfredstate.edu
