Internal Control Reminder - Property Control
All equipment with a useful life of at least two years requires an ownership tag. Any piece of equipment with a unit value of $10,000 or greater and a useful life of at least two years requires a bar code label and entry into the SUNY Property Control System. Generic ownership tags can be provided to any department for application onto equipment below the $10,000 threshold by contacting the Property Control Office; bar code labels on equipment above the threshold will be affixed by Property Control.
If your department has surplus equipment, please contact the Property Control Office with information concerning the surplus asset. The Property Control Office will advertise the asset locally for potential use by another department. If there is no interest in the asset across our campus, the asset will subsequently be offered to all SUNY campuses for transfer. If unable to relocate the asset within SUNY, it will be reported to the Office of General Services for public sale.
The Property Control Office can be reached at x3986 or mcclaipm@alfredstate.edu.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT STUDENT REFUNDS
Refunding for the Fall 2026 semester has begun. Students who have enrolled in e-Refund need not take any additional steps.
If you have not already done so, you can enroll in e-Refund by visiting my.AlfredState.edu/Finances and selecting Step 3 – Pay your Bill through Nelnet, followed by Manage Refunds. This is the fastest and most convenient way to receive your refund!
For students who do not enroll in e-Refund, checks are mailed to the address on file.
Please Note: Refunds are based on enrollment status. Students enrolled in part of term courses, may not see their full refund available until participation has begun in 12 credit hours for the semester. If you have any questions regarding a refund check, please email Student Records and Financial Services at sfs@alfredstate.edu.

NYS Energy Assistance Program
If you pay for electricity or natural gas in New York, you may qualify for monthly savings through New York State's Energy Affordability Program (EAP). Eligibility for the program recently expanded, allowing many New York households to now qualify. Anyone who is eligible can receive recurring discounts directly on their monthly utility bills and could save hundreds of dollars per year. You may qualify based on your household income or participation in programs such as SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, TANF, or other public benefit programs.
Even if you have not qualified for utility assistance in the past, you may be eligible under the expanded guidelines. Learn more about eligibility and how to apply at ny.gov/EAP.
