It is that time of year that Faculty Senate has created a survey so you can evaluate our Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Carrie Cokely.

Spring Open Houses – Save the Date – Admissions
Admissions is pleased to host our second Spring Open House programs on:
- Saturday, April 11
The program will begin at 9:30 a.m. with presentations on both the Alfred and Wellsville campuses. After completing their academic tours on the Wellsville campus, students will travel to the Alfred campus for a residence hall tour and to participate in financial aid and campus life presentations. Open House is a wonderful opportunity to showcase all that Alfred State has to offer to prospective students and their families.

The Ag./Vet Tech and Allied Health department has an opening for an Administrative Assistant 1.
Minimum Requirements:
Promotion: one year of service in a clerical title allocated to Grade 6 and above; and completion of a two-year traineeship*.
Non-competitive: High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma; and three years of experience in administrative support**, which includes use of office software (e.g., email, word processing), provision of customer service, business writing, and management of an office.

The Call for Nominations will be coming to a close on Friday, April 10. The annual Faculty Senate Spring Elections will take place from April 20 until May 4. Don't miss your chance to nominate yourself. If you nominate someone else, please get the candidate’s permission first.
To enhance the voting process, we are asking that all candidates submit a brief statement about who they are (including department and number of years at ASC) and why they are interested in serving on the committee. Please include no more than 3 sentences. This information will be shared with all voting members during elections.

On The Block
Support a Great Cause at On The Block! Saturday, April 11th 4-8 on the Mackenzie Quad
We’re excited to share that proceeds from this year’s On The Block event will be donated to ACCORD: A Center for Dispute Resolution & Community Justice, a Community Action Agency located in Belmont. ACCORD plays a vital role in supporting individuals and families in our local community through programs that promote stability, self-sufficiency, and overall well-being.
We’re asking all students, faculty, and staff to help us give back by bringing:
- Spare change
- Unopened self-care items
- Canned goods
These donations will be used as “votes” for your favorite activities at the event, so the more you bring, the more you can support both your top picks and the community!
Don’t miss the dunk tank just $5 per turn and all proceeds from it will also go directly toward supporting ACCORD.

Open House Parking Lot Closures 4/10 - University Police
Student parking lots 3 (by SLC), 19, 20, 20A and 22 (near Pioneer Stadium/Orvis) and Faculty/Staff parking lots 3 (by SLC) & 21 (near Orvis) will be closed Friday April 10th beginning at 4pm through the completion of the Open House on Saturday afternoon. If you are traveling and leaving a vehicle on campus for the weekend please make sure that it is moved out of the closed lots before you leave. Students may park in any other open lots over the weekend, but must be back in the appropriate student parking before Monday morning at 7am.
Vehicles that remain in closed parking lots or re-enter after the closing time are subject to enforcement up to and including towing at the owners expense.

Join us for the After Dark Dash 5k
The After Dark Dash 5K, hosted by the AU Wellness Center, will take place on Friday, April 24. The event coincides with Hot Dog Day, making it a great opportunity to be part of all the energy and activity happening.
The event is open to all and it’s a fun, active way for students and staff to get involved, connect, and enjoy the night.

Proceeds of the event will be donated to Allegany County Cancer Services

Tickets on Sale Now: A Midsummer Night’s Dream
The Drama Club invites the campus community to enjoy its Spring production of William Shakespeare’s beloved comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Set in a magical forest just outside Athens, the play follows four young lovers, a group of well-meaning amateur actors, and mischievous fairies whose magical interference leads to comic confusion, mistaken identities, and ultimately, happily-ever-after endings. It’s a lively, whimsical celebration of love, imagination, and chaos.
Ticket Information:

• $10 — General Admission
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at the Campus Store (in person or by phone). The Drama Club will also be tabling in CDH from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. every day through the show (cash only).
