Welcome to the end of spring semester!  United University Professions has been active like never before on both statewide and federal fronts.  During professional development week, our Alfred chapter of UUP will hold member engagement events to share updates and answer questions that arise. We will send direct email reminders as more details get solidified. On Monday May 12th we'll start with a lunch time drop-in from 11am to 1pm, in PHS 107 on the Alfred campus.

As the week progresses, we hope to host sessions in Wellsville and Northland, and we'll advertise our monthly executive board meeting (which members are always welcome to attend).  As usual, we hope to incentivize attendance with food!  So stay tuned, and if you have specific topics of interest that you want addressed, send them to our chapter assistant Elaine (Burns) Ryan at burnsem@alfredstate.edu so we can organize useful answers.

These are member events - UUP membership makes good things happen! A higher proportion of membership adds to our negotiating leverage for improving our work lives and benefitting SUNY as a whole. The Wellsville Campus Store will close on May 9th at 1PM.  We will reopen in August.  

The Alfred Campus Store will be open from 9AM to 5PM on GRADUATION DAY.  We will also have a pop-up store at Pioneer Field.

UUP, through the work of its represented professionals at all SUNY campuses, developed a survey directed toward understanding the experiences of all UUP represented professionals (often referred to as administrative faculty) within SUNY.  Some of the questions have been tailored for Alfred State College. We hope that we will be able to use the collected data in many ways, including for discussions at Labor/Management meetings and in contract negotiations, to improve the campus and work experiences for all staff and students within SUNY.

UUP represented professionals will receive an email with a link to the survey. It is completely anonymous.  If you do not receive this link, contact our chapter assistant Elaine (Burns) Ryan at burnsem@alfredstate.edu for assistance. For those not yet members, we encourage you to join by signing up here, or contact your chapter leaders to fill out a membership card. This is an opportunity for your voice to be heard, and to make a difference in your life and that of others in SUNY.

The survey will be open until May 31.

Applications are now open for proposals from faculty and staff members of Alfred, Wellsville and Northland campuses, to lead one or more sessions at the Professional Development Week in August 2025. 

• Tentative Dates: August 14 to August 19
• Session Types: Short, full length, poster or panel presentations and small group round tables or open forums
• Complete this short form to apply.
• Applications Due: May 30, 2025.

UUP Local chapter election results have been certified and posted.  On behalf of the Alfred chapter, our executive board appreciates everyone who put their name in the hat to help!  We will welcome all new leaders soon, but you can find results for Alfred and all UUP chapters here:

BYLAWS BALLOTS have also been sent out to members, for the purpose of approving the proposed chapter bylaws changes.  The effort was undertaken to "do what we say and say what we do" so that bylaws would more accurately reflect current obligations of our chapter leadership.  Feel free to ask questions of any UUP leader, but remember that you can also find information at:
