Is there someone on campus who goes above and beyond, not just meeting expectations but consistently setting the standard for excellence? Here's your chance to recognize and celebrate their outstanding contributions! Nominations for the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service are now being accepted for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Submit names and a brief statement of support by electronic form. Contact C.J. Rahr at 3541 for more information.

Criteria 2024-2025

• Nominees for the award should be individuals who have repeatedly sought self-improvement, campus improvement, and ultimately, the State University’s excellence.
• They should serve as professional role models for the University system in pursuing excellence.
• Candidates must have completed three full-time academic years at the nominating campus within the past five years.
• They must be present on campus and serving in full-time professional service capacities, with over 50% of their assignment in non-teaching services.
• Promotion within the same department doesn’t prevent nomination.

Deadline: All nominations must be submitted by January 6, 2025.

The Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence is a distinguished award for SUNY student leaders (2 nominees). We are requesting that if you have or know of an excellent student leader who meets the following criteria, please respond to Deena Smith (smithdl1@alfredstate.edu) with that student’s name and we will follow-up with them to acquire the needed information.

Criteria:

1. A senior / in their last year (must graduate between June 2024 and May 2025)
2. Exceptional academic performance (3.0 or above)
3. Strong examples in at least three of the following areas:
4. Academic Excellence
5. Leadership
6. Diversity, Equity, inclusion & justice
7. Campus Involvement
8. Civics and Service
9. Research & Development
10. Creative or Performing Arts

Nominators must identify the student to us (smithdl1@alfredstate.edu) and we will do the rest!

We need the student leaders to fill out their nomination forms and forward them to us by Friday, January 24th, 2025.

Keri Edsall, Loan Officer & Online Financial Aid Counselor sits down with key campus partners from Residential Services, Health & Wellness Services, University Police, and Global & Civic Wellbeing to discuss the importance of maintaining good mental health as it is crucial for overall well-being and impacts how we think, feel, and behave in all aspects of our lives.

The State of New York takes personal information confidentiality and security very seriously. Breaches of information security may result in disciplinary action, depending upon the nature and severity of the breach.

To control access to confidential information:

·         Lock doors to office areas during non-business hours.
·         Process customer information in secure work areas.
·         Provide an escort for guests entering areas where customer information is being processed and/or stored.
·         Store and secure student information in locking file cabinets.
·         Refrain from leaving confidential information on desks or open areas accessible to the public.
·         Dispose of obsolete documents in designated shredding containers.
·         Arrange computer screens so that they are not visible to the public.

The Office of Human Resources has worked to resolve the system issue that was previously identified in BizLibrary. At this time we believe that all employee trainings prior to the reset have been updated if you log into the system and notice that your previously completed trainings are showing as incomplete, email hr@alfredstate.edu.  

Please note that if you completed your trainings prior to Tuesday, December 10th, it is possible that courses completed in previous cycles were marked as complete this year. That issue has been corrected and all assigned trainings need to be completed this year. 

Trainings completed after the 10th were not impacted. 

We thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked to check and correct the completion records of all employees. 

Dear Faculty and Staff,

The offices of Career Development and Institutional Advancement are excited to announce an upcoming Networking Event that will coincide with our Signing Day Dinner.  This is designed to connect students with employers, professionals, and alumni from various industries.  It will provide valuable opportunities for students to network, learn about career pathways, and engage with potential employers.

We would be grateful if you could share any relevant employer contacts or industry connections that are also Alfred State Alumni that might be interested in participating. Your support in connecting us with professionals from your network will help ensure the success of this event and provide our students with meaningful opportunities.
